Rent for a month is 390 USD, this may not sound a lot but you need to realize the minimum wage was only recently established at US$3.5/hr. I also heard that it is impossible to rent at this price for the same apartment now (rent went up 25-50% this past year in that region).

Inflation has skyrocketed past salaries and landlords and property tycoons are taking all of us young people for a ride. I'm sick and tired of this, something has to change.
Hong Kong should adopt Australian style policy -- only citizens can purchase residential dwellings. Foreigner are not allowed to speculate on home properties. A government for the people will have laws protecting the welfare of the people.
It's shocking how despite the size of the room, the decorations are done so well it looks great if one just gaze on each panel of the walls individually. Of course, once you step out the place just looks like a sodding beggar's flat :p
Nothing will change until the people of HK decide it's time to change. 500k people did it in 2003, there's no reason why we can't do it again with some organizing.
