I like to think that the burrowing attack sometimes launches or kills radscorpions because of the speed, they accidentally impale themselves on something underground or hit another scorpion so hard that it's knocked upwards.
You missed the best, the robot scorpions from big MT. Sure they might be just robots created by mad scientist but they are cool and I like em the best.
It would also make sense that the Albino Scorpions you encounter would be such threats. As they are mutated to now lack any and all camouflage, they are constantly under threat and easy targets. ANY Albino Scorpion that can survive to that stage in life is either beyond lucky, or a real powerhouse.
You are indeed correct, in real life the vast majority of them have a blue-tinted blood. The hemocyanin is was does that. I'm totally speculating here, but I think evolving to use red blood instead of blue blood would be advantages because of their massively increased size compared to their real world cousins. That would mean they use an iron-based blood, which may be a heck of a lot better at transporting oxygen to where it needs to go when you're much, much larger. The book lungs they have might not be able to absorb enough oxygen during simple respiration either, so they may have lungs more similar to other mamals. I could be way off, again, just speculating.
something i find strange is there is no spiders in fallout unless in the games i havent played. Spiders have existed for some 400 millions year if not more (might have been slightly less, but still a damn long time) so spiders have defenitly been able to survive a multitude of devestating mass extinctions, including the extremly deadly one that hit in the time period called Perm (the one befor the Triatic period when the first dinosours started to apear) and is belived to have been the most devestating mass extinction event of all, so they would probably be able to survive in some form during a nuclear holocost like we see in fallout.
There are many theories as to why there are no spiders in the FO world, mine is simple, apparently the authors didn't want to scare people with arachnophobia.
@@zlostnypopolnik as someone who has arachnophobia, I'm so glad they're not in fallout, the one bad thing about jedi fallen order are the massive spiders lol
One note, a radscorpion tail and an antidote do not have the same weight and value in fallout 1. A radscorpion tail weights 20 pounds and is worth 5 caps, as opposed to the antidote's 1 weight and 50 caps worth.
My head cannon is OG radscorpions were mutated by radiation to be slightly larger but were influenced with FEV, given their location. Since then they've continued to mutate and adapt due to radiation and varients of FEV. This would explain pretty much every difference and discrepancy of them. Especially the Commonwealth versions, being heavily mutated almost alien scorpions.
FEV does not respond well to the presence of Radiation, producing outright magical effects when the two are combined. It's a consistent explanation for basically all of Fallouts weird creatures. Both are now endemic natural hazards, so they're going to interact whether you want them to or not
Then there's Fallout Shelter, where radscorpions are at their absolute worst. Nothing drains my dwellers health and irradiates them faster. It's even worse when they invade the Vault and they burrow between different floors.

Also 2- and 3-star legendry Scorpions are very buggy(pun yes) on their god-drops as they do NOT drop the appropriate level and stared loot for the player. Just focus on the meat week part.

We’re hung up dry for Fallout content and RadKing poured some water in our mouths. I can’t wait until we get to the point of covering Atlantic City and the other 76 raids. Or even just covering The Glowing Sea and everything out there.
The Albino Radscorpion was terrifying when I first saw it years ago. First saw it trying to get to the Enclave base where they blow up Liberty Prime, and it was a damn nightmare to kill, costing most of my ammo. Second time I saw it was in Deathclaw territory somewhere up north, where it took on 6 deathclaws, and then came after me, still with 15-20% of its HP. Always fun to lead them into Deathclaw, Enclave, or Mutant patrols, though, and watch them just tear everything apart for me.

Radscorpions in Fallout New Vegas have always been among the most terrifying foes to me, especially where and when you encounter them. And I'm not only talking about Goodsprings Cemetary, I'm referring to the road South of Primm towards the Monave Outpost. One moment you're taking potshots at single naked ghouls, the next there's 2 or more of these tanks skittering towards you, completely eating any kind of ammo you send their way. Edit: Scorpion Gulch is another of these areas, though by then you kinda know what to expect from the game. Still though, just imagine you're in that ravine, happily smashing Bark Scorpions like ripe pumpkins, then turn a corner and got one of these nasty giants clawing at your face.
I have to say, I do have to give Bethesda props with Fallout 4, they managed to make what is considered a general nuisance in previous games were made to be an actual threat and actually really terrifying.
To answer your final question: my least favorite type of scorpion is... the Robo-Scorpion from Old World Blues. Well maybe because my latest courier was a melee build, so those post-mortem explosions were especially annoying. Apart from those, my least favorite actual scorps are the Giant ones in New Vegas, for the reasons I stated in my other comment. They don't need any fancy (and buggy) digging strats, they're just an unstoppable tank, heading straight for your throat.
46:55 So digging is a learned behavior, and here's my theory why the DC area scorpions don't dig: If you put a bunch of fleas in a sealed jar, they will jump and hit the lid because they know they can jump higher than the lid. When time passes, and a new generation is born, the new generation will see all the other fleas jumping just under the lid and will only jump as high as their peers. I believe that due to the massive amount of foundations and concrete of DC, they "forgot" how to burrow as a means of attacking, it is likely easier for them to Leroy Jenkins their prey than navigate foundations, rubble, and fallen concrete that they wouldn't be able to burrow through. If they can still burrow, it is likely slow because of how urbanized and full of concrete most of the area is. If they can't dig through rock, they can't dig through a foundation. If they can't dig through a foundation, they won't be able to dig through most of the rubble present in FO3. When the third of fourth generation of scorpions was born in the Capitol Wasteland, they have simply not learned the learned behavior because they never saw any of their peers hunt by digging.
I like to go with the FEV explanation when it comes to explaining their size. Bugs and Arachnids have an open circulatory system tha basically means theyre organs are baithing in blood soup, meaning they can be very big due to a poor oxygen delivery system. So them evolving a closed circulatory system would make sense to allow the size increase and maybe even the change in blood color from blue to red/green.
Would be funny if, after you kill that jumpscare scorpion, the shack becomes home to a trader that sells home electronics. Because, ya know, Radio Shack
I don’t know if you have make a Video about this before, but it would be interesting to see a video talking about the settlement of fallout (from fallout 1 to NV and fallout 4). The main idea is to talk about the settlement economy and lore, like where do they get food and water for it settler, what resources do they have, how was/ when did the …. Settlement founded, did they build their settlement with rusty metal sheet, brick,… or was the settler live in a bunch of pre-war building that somehow stand for over hundred of years since the Great War, …..
I have a unexplainable Hate and love for the FO4 Radscorpions. They look awesome. Ive encountered my forst Radscorpion(s) when I was going to one of the Hospitals. Ive passed a rock and about 5 Radscorpions popoed out of nowhere. I died...several times. I think that was a Radscorpion nest. Im unsure, but I remember i watched another FO RUclipsr talk about a Radscorpion nest. Also, I beliave Laser Weapons wirk best on Radscorpions, at least they did for me. Ok, thanks for reading and have a nice day,
I wonder if the red blood of radscorpions is the result of horizontal gene transfer from radiation or FEV. It's also likely that "radscorpion" doesn't refer to a single species but is rather a colloquial term like "mirelurk", which would explain the large difference between portrayals.
My take on the radscorpions in Fallout 1 and 2: The antidote had just been developed, so people didn't fight them and instead opted to avoid them at all costs. That lead to the scorpions populating the area like crazy, making it such a common encounter for the fearless Vault Dweller. 80 years later, the antidote is now widely available, so people dare to engage the scorpions instead of keeping their distance, leading to a decrease in the scorp population. Also, maybe the geckos are another reason for the radscorpions' decline. Maybe those lizards are an invasive species coming from the North, maybe they're even resistant to the scorpions' venom and have a taste for bug meat (just like real geckos)
I think we can all agree that the best implementation is in Fallout 4. Technically 76 by proxy since they're the same thing, but with MMO style stat scaling differences weighing them down in comparison (Thanks for the 'live service', Bethesda). Not only are they much deadlier for their iconic appearances, they're also much different to fight than other types of enemies in the game.
oh man that fallout 4 radscorpion jump scare had me stuck in a deathloop for a while cuz I was super low level and tried to run away Also the naruto running on that fallout brotherhood character looked so goofy
Correction. All animals capable of live birth store eggs internally, both prior and after fertilization. Of course Radscorpions can be looted for eggs. That's why you can't find radscorpion eggs in the open world like in the case of mirelurks. I also find it unlikely that the radscorpion locked indoors were mutated by the Brotherhood's actions. If this were the case, they wouldn't have become Radscorpions, but scorpions that are otherwise horribly mutated. The fact that they are part of the recognizable Radscorpion species means the queen more likely entered as a juvenile and matured until it could no longer leave. There's a reason why reocurring mutants such as Brahmen, Bloatflies and Bloodbugs exist: because these are species that have undergone radiation-expedited natural selection, resulting in a cohesive and stable biosphere.
The lore of a lot of radioactive animals and people is very difficult since 2 companies obviously had their own way of describing the way and world in which they mutated. I'm on the Obsidian's side tbh seems a lot better.
Always thought the albino radscorpions were overhyped as all hell. They go down easy with some whiskey, stimpacks, and a shishkebab. Not quick, mind you, jusy easy. Also, if you want a pet radscorpion, Fallout 4 has you covered. Just build one of those brain-melt bug-zappers, and a cage to catch one. Bam, pet big scorpion!

I have a question about fallout prisons and if anyone lived in them before the bombs and keep up the good work and I love your videos
Scorpin! Scromble's punch.
Me with a horrible fear of scorpions. Your video in my recommended 6 diffrent times giving a heart attack eatch time.
More precisely, scorpions use haemocyanin as respiratory protein, which is blue when oxygenated, and colorless when deoxygenated.
i would be terrified if there was a radscorpion queen variety that had its young ride it
Thank you
The queen radscorpion could've also been locked in the building through the garage door.
Major missed opportunity to model and animate a Radscorpion Mother with little Scorplings, a la the Mirelurk Queen and its Hatchling attack. 😈
Good work, 'King. Just don't let the next Scorp sting through your skull, lest you be reduced to a paranoiac, Lenin-hating hobo.
