The Televisions should NOT be mounted above The Fireplace. It's very bad form. Why do people do this ? The TV should be mounted at eye height on a separate wall.

It's because they are trying to present a blank canvas so you can renovate and decorate how ever you want, but I agree it's dry to look at initially.
