I SEE SEVERAL FLAWS in the reasoning of Mr Tahir Nasser in the "Christianity vs. God" section. St. Paul didn't say Israel's law is a curse in the way you suggest (and further on, you even make a mockery of it). But the meaning of what Paul really said was that the low increases the trespassing of law, therefore it can be called a 'curse' in the same sense that God in the old testament did not want Israel to demand a law, even not demand a king. They received both, but only because they kept asking for it. You call this a "perverse" way of looking at laws, but even today, we would still say that turning certain good things into law (think of gender ideology for instance, but also things like prohibiting insult) makes life worse, because laws tend to nullify virtues (the Biblical principle of "law being written in the hearts" gets nulliifed). It is also not true that Catholics believed that the Hebrew law was to be annulated. Most church fathers believed that the law ceded to be 'Jewish' (and that the Sabbath command could be set aside, or replaced by another day) but they all knew very well that the 10 (or 9) commandments were an expression of moral values, virtues that were desirable, and which should be taken to heart. Then, your argument that God is "too holy to accept sin" and "any sin makes you punishable" seems equally biased against St. Paul. And not following the "ceremonial laws" (what to eat or not, circumcision, etc) by Christians has nothing to do with feeling "free from sins". As a Buddhist, you are right guys. In fact, liberal modernity comes from a Protestant background mainly and it could not create a sucessful universal ethics because ethics comes from communtiy and relation with another member of a community and it is not individual as Kant thought. Neither Kant nor Hegel could achieve ethics for liberalism. That's why they want to naturalize human behaviour within the free market frame with ethology, darwinism, psychology. But morality needs to be trascendent. Protestantism, from other side, uses solo fide, where only faith plays role for salvation, this moral determinism plays no moral awareness in liberalism as background.

You do not evidence God’s goodness in the world but through the ripe and good fruits of faith, I.e. example and works. That is both theological and practical in the best of Christian tradition though it may be absent in the worst.
