John’s squat usually takes the biggest hit in his meets. He usually looks more shaky on his heaviest squat attempts which is likely from the water cut. Hi squats were awesome. His other lifts “struggled” by his standards. Still an insane total. I know his goal is 2300 @198. I might be next meet. It all comes down to health during prep and meet.
I believe his strongman training dampened his bench press. The squat and deadlift carryover was good but he didn’t do much bench while prepping for that so it got hit.
strength is always relative. So to him, with how strong he knows he is and if something isn't going the way it should, then to him yes that is not good even though to others it is a lot of weight
His bench suffered too much from strongman. He finally got his squat to where it needs to be, just needs to recover bench strength and stay injury free for dl, then he's got the 2300 in the bag.
John's real issue is that no one told him you're supposed to train bench and overhead. So while he was prepping for his strongman comp he stopped benching
ive been taking a break from benching because of my shoulder rotstor cuff i think, its much better now but i still cant bench without pain what is an alternative i can do to not lose to much strenght?
YO LOVE TO SEE YOU MAKING VIDEOS. I've said for a long time i think you should make these and documentary style videos. the vlogs and personal videos are dope but your take on all things powerlifting and bodybuilding is always dope.
Man is a unit. I like that now he looks like he lifts and looks like a unit. I remember 4-6 years ago he looked scrawny while putting up massive numbers. Now he looks jacked as fuck lol
He would have set a 6 lbs meet PR and pushed the ATWR by the same amount. He took a strategic approach to pushing DL after missing his bench. Extremely smart attempt selection, but nonetheless it wasn’t there on the day
Have you noticed that your Right pupil is more dilated than left. No biggie if not all the time, but if you do end up noticing that, good to check out. If just this once, just lightening then
@@patrickyoung2813 oh, really? Thank you for stating the obvious. My issue is with the judges since I see more and more records being broken with clearly high squats.

he basically did the opposite this meet, but 2300lbs at 198 would be the best total ever 100%
Yeah it’s crazy that his squat did the best for him. He will get it dialed in I’m sure for his next meet

Imagine having an off day and STILL having a 1000+ kilo total. Absolutely nuts

I don't get how John's squats are so shaky but still be so strong...
yeah beats me
i think its from just initially bracing so hard. his rep work is never as shaky as singles i swear haha
It’s because he’s torn his quad before
John's real issue is that no one told him you're supposed to train bench and overhead. So while he was prepping for his strongman comp he stopped benching
He still benched
He's not as strong as Brad Castleberry
1:51 323.5 KG bench opener ??? Dude is beast .. he dropped down for his 2nd at 250..
Bro your unit conversions are a mess in this video
High bar and tradi deadlift is insane
A couple of reasons why he’s one of the GOATs IMO
you mean conventional?
@@averagedude75464Life
Doesn’t matter sumo and low bar are allowed in every federation. It’s not cheating
@@J.brashear122Sumo is definitely cheating not in comp but in real life
Opening deadlift is 375kg
Thank you for using pounds and showing it on the screen. Not everyone is a geeky kilo fanboy so we have to stop and convert to know whats going on.
Nick giving lifting vault a run for their money with these fire content and info
1:12 John did mention multiple times that his bench wasn't feeling optimal during prep
Poor dude they were making him do an hour pause on the bench
Thanks for covering it. Bench was off because he did strongman competition prior which doesn't do bench but shoulder pressing. If ya know ta know.
100%.

Yo my man why are your pupils the size of dimes?
opener on deadlift... 826,7LBS is not 275KG but 375kg
Great to have you back Nick
John is disgustingly powerful. 100% motivation. Great video too!
Was really hoping he was going to total 2300 this meet ;-;
only John Haack walks a squat out of a mono and buries it lol
Like these videos man! I was looking for a recap of his!
Great video Nick! Thanks 😊💪
Needs to widen squat & bench a wee bit ala Coan.
Good recap! Short, simple sweet.
Nick wright, YT powerlifting OG and now, lifting historian and commentator. I think this a great new avenue he’s paving.
I dont know why people shit on his powerlifts, i think he was pretty strong and they also shit on his physique
I remember watching Pete Rubish deadlift 920 lbs on this channel years ago, was pleasantly surprised to see this video pop up lol
my goat
Thickest 198 ever!
3rd squat didnt hit depth
Happy halloween.
375kg typo bro
Great job man

ultimate John haack glazer

dude that bench is just absolutely stupid bodyweight multiplier.
Love hack, just can't forget in this meet my best coach an friend nall totaled 2404 raw
you cannot achieve in a few months what you previously achieved in several years

Dude posted John's recap before John could post his own recap
the goat still. he just came off that strongman prep too. his next meet will be legendary we know it
Why he still walked out in squst with a mono lift 🤔🤔
You should do these athlete meet recap videos with your insights. This content📈

Really wish John would do a meet in the higher weight class. Would love to see him bulk up
He is so big these days I wonder if the cut is starting to affect his meet days as well.
I would like to know, how mich he did cut, because he looked massive
When was this comp?
if he can get bench and deadlift dialed in... 🙈
Great video Nick!
Hey man great recap!!!
Man he's so cool
Thank you nick 💪🔥
So refreshing to see a conventional deadlift. Sumo is done. However it should be it’s own category.
I agree although for some sumo is harder
Insane, wow
Nice recap, Nick 👍
That deadlift spoter was way too close. I would request to not have one at all
He just wanted to give John a hug 😂
Do you think his best numbers are behind him?
Probably not. Cutting weight hurts your total and squat/bench usually take a hit when doing so. Even a water cut
he had a break earlier and this is his first powerlifting meet back so it was pretty great for him considering that
He just hit his best squat ever in a meet by 18lbs he pulled 915 in training bench was just off this meet. He will be back for the ghost clash
@@Nickademaslifts when is the ghost clash?

Those squat look high AF. Would love to see a side angle.

Im currently working on 6 Plates on Conventional Deadlift
Benching over 600lbs at 220lbs body weight is so beyond ridiculously strong
He should just sauce hard and work up to 242. Don’t go backwards lol
He doesn't feel comfortable going over 220 and for his health he better keep it that way.
Thanks for covering this, bro. I think he's one of the best powerlifters
who cares he’s on roids
he was the absolute best even before starting roids
You couldnt lift half of it on roids
Dumb comment I'm going to report you.
No shit sherlock, it's untested powerlifting.
mad
Ashton Rouska squatted 838 natural in USAPL 2023 Nationals.
He did was 230lbs, but still insane. If John hack weigh 230, who knows what he would squat.
"natural" LMAO
