I have a 2022 Tiguan with 13000 miles and I average 33mpg. No joke. I wanted a hybrid and you could not get one for 5-6 months so I went for the Tiguan for the space and style. The fuel economy was a pleasant surprise.
22 SE Redline, mostly city and am around 20mpg... I don't race around and honestly try to drive as soft as possible. The few times I drive on the freeway it does waaay better. Definitely not a city miser😥 My 2012 Ford Transit Connect WITH tools does better
Pros: Beautiful vehicle. Nice interior. Spacing seems generous. Cons: engine needs more power, particularly if you have a full load of passengers and cargo. VW dealerships are hit and miss depending upon where you live.
I just tested it (yeah, 2024 model which basically the same). It has more than enough power for family in city. With 3 people inside I had no issues with merging on highway. Yeah, Mazda CX-50 with turbo will be quicker but it’s also much more sportier and has stiffer suspension. Tiguan is way more comfortable than many of competitors. Maybe Hyundai Tucson with hybrid was more quite inside and smoother on road but it has a lot of recalls so bad choice. If you need quicker car it’s better to buy quicker car like Audi. But for general consumer it’s great choice for 4-5 years at least
I have brought a Tiguan .. it is actually fast but when we drive it doesn’t feel like it’s fast .. when I look at the odometer it’s at 75mph .. it may be because of the heaviness .. Car doesn’t feel like it’s going at high speed due to its build quality .. But when we drive a RAV4 we feel like it’s going fast even at 65 mph also I drove CRV .... May be because of japenese build quality .. I even cross checked with speedometer in my phone … it is actually fast … but inside the car it doesn’t feel like … Its a damn smoother ride than other cars .. Trust me guys … Give it a test drive of the car .. that’s my opinion on this car.. and drive quality of Volkswagen is pretty good on highways …
I love the Tiguan, I'm getting the SEL Tiguan this weekend. It's perfect for a two family and the third role setting is a bonus. I like the smart key and remote key features, I had a Toyota Rav 4 before and Its a great up grade. Thanks for sharing this video. this was confirmation that I'm buying the right car/Suv.
How is it now? I wanna buy but I hear about engine and transmission problems . I try to not care as I feel people say that about every single make and model, but how has your performed?
That demonstration about sitting behind yourself if your a taller person should be done everywhere, buttons on the dashboard are always better great review !
More tall guy reviews!! I am 6'5" and what I have been noticing lately is that even if I can squeeze in under the roof the rear view mirror and its mounting structure take up so much space (probably for cameras) in a lot of cars it really blocks the view forward. It would be nice to get a camera shot from the POV of a tall reviewer. The Kia Stinger is a particularly bad example of this.
@@neeko.b Sir, I don't know if my emojis were of any indication but this has been a running joke about Micah's height. Pretty sure almost everyone who watches KBB videos knows how tall Micah is. ^_^
What is going to fill the space once compact and subcompact offerings increase in size to the point another segment needs to be created beneath them? Sub sub compact? Micro machine?
Not a bad vehicle , the engine could use more power if the fuel economy is gonna suck. I hate the fake exhaust tips I wish manufacturers would stop with this trend. Its not a bad looking suv it doesn't need to have a third row since its a small suv get a large suv if you want a third row or a van.
Bro, the third row is still available up here in Canada. You don't get off the hook that easily. I'll buy you a fancy coffee if you come here and get in the 3rd row. Fancy coffee will go with that fancy -ss shirt you're wearing.
Tiguan needs more power. IMHO 184HP isn't enough for its weight. Suspension is a bit firm for my taste also. The only thing I like about it is its nice interior. Oh one more thing transmission has mind of its own especially in the sports setting.
184HP is pretty normal for this segment, but for a turbocharged 2.0 4 cylinder engine they could do better. Ford's 2.0 turbo makes more power than most V6 engines from 10 years ago. The 8 speed transmission is probably an Aisin unit, the same one Toyota uses.
Ask yourself, do you want a suv that’s made in Mexico (Tiguan)? Or Japan (Mazda CX5)? Now guess which one of these is the most reliable and least reliable suv.
Nice car, but it’s just missing some “pizzazz.” Id take the Sportage,Tucson, CX-50, or new CRV over his simply for there more interesting (and arguably better) design.
@@cloudstrifex88 lol.. Bro I see them everywhere. Maybe they're not popular on his street or something. I'm currently in Jamaica now.. It's popular here too.

Same here. I have 2019 SEL. It has always overachieved on mpg. 4motion. 26-27 city. 33-36 highway.
I heard it's slow to accelerate. Is that true? Thinking of getting one.

I see people saying the engine has problems after 40,000 miles or so. Have you experienced anything that you had to take it in?
The Danger Man back at it with a killer review

Aww the family pic on your phone was so cute 😊
as an owner of a 22’ SEL the only complaints are the fuel eco and the POWER, at least bump it to 220 or something!
Excellent review Mike!😸

A very informative review by Mike including his height. Unlike Mr. Micah who never tells us how tall he is...😏🤣

How do they only get 184hp out of a 2.0 Turbo?!?!
Lover hp for better reliability
@@nicoyoung259 but the GTI, GLI & 2.0T Audis are way more reliable!
German engineering when they can’t cheat anymore: 2 liter turbo with 184hp AND sub par fuel economy.
Could it be they adjust the power so that it can sip on lower quality fuel? It still produces 184 hp even if we use 87 octane.

Holy shit, Danger is a real last name?
I miss the old Tiguan it was smaller but felt more premium then this
Volkswagen now has the Taos, which, I've heard, is just the European version of the current Tiguan. But it has a very similar interior to this Tiguan.
Mike, you just trashed the acceleration on one of the fastest suv in the southern hemisphere 😂
