My father was a carpenter by trade and always had a project going - he built us all dressers my mom a chest, fish tanks, a bigger version of a feeder for cattle - it was always something. I was his helper - enjoyed watching this video brought back good memories of time spent with my Dad. Thx for sharing

I love that bird feeder. My husband loves to watch the birds from his bedroom. He has Parkinson's so can't get out much now. I like the way you rounded the edges. It really finishes off the design. I am not able to use my tools any more or I would make him one. (I am73 and he is 78). Thank you for the enjoyment in watching you create these lovely things.

Kind of copied this yesterday with some leftover cedar t/g.Instead of planking the roof I am going to use cut down cedar shingles. Chickadees and the Junkos are going to love it. My grandma had one similar, rougher, that Gpa built. It reminds me of sitting with her in the A.M drinking coffee and watching the birds in the winter.

My Father built bird houses and sold them at stores, he also made toy cars trains and semi trucks. My brother made them too. This made me miss my dad! Dad would make a tool to, make a tool! You probably understand this! He just asked certain stores to allow him to display and if sold they would get a percentage. So they did and started having orders❤️❤️❤️

Hi Doug. That was an excellant instructional video. I was able to make the same thing exactly. I added a few extras to mine. Cedar shaked the roof as I had some laying around, put a few perches around the outside and put a suet feeder inside as well. I like it. Waiting for your bird feeder TV video.

Into your bird buffet build for just a few minutes Doug and already am liking the feeder, your style and presentation. Any sapsuckers? You know they like their suet. Consider placing or hanging a few suet blocks on the 'giant' feeder for an even greater attraction. Peace out.

This is the second time I’ve come back to watch your bird feeder build… thoroughly enjoy the quality of work and how stunning it is! Btw your Aussie is gorgeous, I have a mini named Tula and she looks very similar to yours only smaller in size and her white stripe is thinner in the center of her face leaving a raccoon effect! She’s in my photo. Love and live for my Aussies! You should build a playground for her… I’d watch!

Stellar jays are a big problem for me too. I am thinking that I may make this but use hardware cloth on the inside of the windows with small enough entance holes cut in that the blue jays can't get in. They really are bullies! Thanks for the great design!! I love it.

Most bright colors, however, can be used to attract many different birds, with certain bird species being more attracted to particular shades.
    Red and Pink: Hummingbirds.
    Orange: Orioles, hummingbirds.
    Yellow: Goldfinches, warblers, hummingbirds.
    Blue: Bluebirds, jays.
Enjoy, add a fountain or Pond with a wash shelf, no more than 2 inches. Love the Birds

Hey Doug, somehow I found your channel, specifically this video on the giant bird feeder! I thought it was amazing and I had to try to build it! And I did! Slightly smaller but still big! I had to make it according to what wood I had in the garage but it came out pretty good for just “winging it!” I plan to make another with your actual dimensions so this first one was a test to see what not to do… it was a teacher for sure! But anyways great video and great channel! I’ve been watching your learn to carve tutorials also and I just bought a helvie 1 3/4 rough out knife. They just had a limited sale on items from an event in Utah that didn’t sell! Anyways, great content and awesome teaching and amazing items you build and create!
