The USS Tang, USS Tullibee were sunk by their own torpedoes probably due to faulty gyros. U869 was sunk by its own torpedo. U377 and U972 are also thought to have been sunk by their own torpedoes. The German torpedoes which had acoustic seeking capability probably missed their initial target only to return to sender.

This was great. I just came from the newest AMA video where it was asked how to launch a torpedo
Great video Greg - very cool to see close-ups of all the equipment 👍
I was hoping for more information on how a TDC works. Any suggestions?
How about showing how a torpedo is launched from a submarine?
Get a super soaker squirt gun, same thing
Its amazing how we took the computer off a battleship and squished it into the CONNING TOWER... submarines once... submarines twice
This is a VERY complicated subject. This vid is not even a overview.
