The IS-7 came to the game over 4 years ago and a lot has changed. I recently was requested to revisit and see how this Rare Soviet Heavy Tank was fairing.

How do you think the IS-7 fairs in the game currently? Personally, I feel it does really well against certain things and then an ATGM with a Tandem Warhead decides to run your day. Are there other rare/unique tanks you would like to see on the channel or possibly revisited?
Swedish meatball launcher in top tier and the 2.3 aa tank. I have killed 9.0s in it
Would love to see you play the French HE launcher. I forget it’s name, but it’s around 4.3 I believe and is extremely rare.
the matilda with the russian T-34(1941) cannon would be awesome to see
I got it back during the event, it was a lot of fun back then, but it doesn't fare as well with the increases in modern ammunition and also the repair cost is too much to play consistently

I thought it was joke about the real life tank being cheaply made or something, then i read this comment and immediately jumped onto the market place to check. Jesus. i thought $100 dollars for the Japanese tiger was ludicrous.

I didn't have enough time to grind the IS-7 and the OBJ-279. Kinda wish i did. Gaijin wants me to dedicate 8 hours/day for an event.

So today I learned that the is-7 turret is very good, and the engine is outstanding at eating shells and only slightly catching on fire. Because holy jeez, it burned for a long time
Fire is a long way from the crew and ammunition.
@@xtlegacy1020 doesn't seem to mean all that much, Maus can stay on fire for quite awhile too. The driver is right there by the engine

It makes me really sad that gaijin is punishing those who have put a lot of time and effort into getting these pretty rare vehicles! Object 279, IS-7 have repair costs of over 10k the US merkavas are pretty expensive to repair as well. They should at least be cheap to repair.
No they absolutely shouldn‘t, what are you talking?? You earn double xp and silver lions so you are still making more sl than tech tree tanks if you make the same kills + they are already strong tanks at their br. At least the ones you are talking about
Every sl less would make the game more pay to win, and nobody should really want this.
@@oOScrabbOo lol... All the above mentioned event reward vehicles are NOT premiums! So they do not reward more SL or RP.

Non-premium event vehicles should have a silver card (as opposed to the gold premium card) with a reduced repair cost (as if it was premium) and an SL booster (as if it was premium) but no RP booster so it can't be used to research whole trees and it won't research faster.
They should be more than just a collectable Tech Tree vehicle with extra steps. It's already a pain in the ass to get them, then you also have to research parts. Make them special and have a purpose.

_"The ~$2000 Tank I Barely Touch"_ - I feel exactly the same way about the AMX-50 Surblindé. It's fine for what it is and theres a perfectly alright lineup around it, but I barely play the thing. Once in a while I'll take it out for a spin and that's kinda it. It just sits there.

Love the video. The IS-7 is my favorite Russian tank. Hope y'all had a blast.
See I think the Is-7 can still perform incredibly well at the moment, the round is about enough to pen just about anything you point at, then you have those two heavy mgs for light vehicles and tracking, the tank is incredibly fast both forward and reverse, and the Armor is still somewhat efficient at its br, albeit some rounds go through it like a knife through butter, but I find the thing incredibly good at surviving due to lots of crew and decent Armor - I spent £200-300 on mine and never regretted it at all, one of my best investments in war thunder

I believe that the IS-7 project was cancelled for many of the same reasons that the German Maus and the Ratt were, they were too complex, too labor intensive, too impractical and too expensive to build/ maintain.
Grinded that thing back in the days in operation summer with the Pak Puma if i remember right. Man i never yelled more at my screen while this event.
Bo consistently hides. Saying I will guard this corner while you go around it and die, or he says I will come and help you and never leaves the spot he is sitting in.

Lord, that thing can take a beating - IS-4M can too sometimes, when angled right. I've had times when using the IS-4M where I just take dozens of shots over a few minutes before they finally get me - After a little bit, you end up being a distraction to the enemy team and they're all taking shots.
I can't do anything to fight back but it's just hilarious sometimes.

The IS-7 was mostly rejected bcs not only it's expensive and complex, but also it was so heavy, that they couldn't be transported by trains, which were the main way of transporting tanks closer to the battlefields

Trouble is...it'll get all the punishment it can take. What I understood from this video is that as soon as they ID you as an IS-7, you become the target of every advanced weapon on the map. Not very fun when _everybody_ is shooting at just you.

I just got a wt ad about the new update"direct hit". I'm so happy they added the new mig27m. I just hope they don't add any 4th gen aircraft like the f14 or something...would be a shame if they added the a10 with overpowered missles aswell

It was way too hard to unlock back than, so....
Also those "walleyes" are ridiculously underperforming, despite the large warhead. I even had T-55s and M60s surviving them.

one of the few tanks, that are probably worth the 700-1000$ price, anything above 1k for an in vehicle anything though for me is unreasonable. but considering the literal 60-70 hours a week i watched people grind for this tank, and for some that did that and still not get it, its fair
