geez brother! i had no clue you are 6'6"!! thats nuts. kinda hard to tell when youre only 2.5" on my phone.
What kind of guns you boys packen?
Damn, Canada, what happened?
AxeMastersINC angry grizzly bear rights that is what happened.
you need a Ridgeline for that hammock
Are Crocs standard issue hiking shoes up in Canada?
blue ferral noting hurts you in Canada
Packing my bags! I've already got two pair of crocs!
Crocs are often used as the shoes for crossing waters and additionally as your camp shoes since they are so light to carry.
where I'm from if theres crocks in your camp site that could be real dangerous
Same in Finland!
But i think, if your foots get wet anyway its good that water get easily out of your shoes. And it doesnt take much time to dry your shoes😂
The handle is soppose to be thin to prevent shock, the thicker it is the more shock travels through the handle. Also if your hands get tired from a few trees you are holding it too firmly, think of it as a whip and let the motions flow smoothly. If done properly you can fell trees all day long with proper technique and handle.
6 foot 6 damn they must breed you tall in Canada. You didn't go camping you went home to see mum and dad, so that what big foot looks like shaved lol
That would explain things
Troy Andrews actually canada has the highest diversity of cultures in the world, therefore we have all different sizes of canadians! From compact, to tiny, to large, to sasquatch! And hes one of the border line sasquatches!
Did you say "butthole lake"?
Buttle lake. LOL.
Try a leather wrap on the axe handle...
Just a friendly tip: When bucking logs, try making your notches alittle bigger(atleast the width of the diameter of whatever log you're bucking) and hit the tree at more of an angle. You will get bigger bites and throw bigger chips.🤘
Chopping in in our DNA, 1.9 million years of using fire will do that . Buck saws would be a easier/ safer option for bucking a log but......we love swinging the sharpened axe and busting out chips.
I keep tring to get into the bush but she says no. Just cause it is Jungle down there doesn't mean I won't play Tarzan!!
Liam is probably the best ax maker today. If I had a use for it, I would probably have one of his axes. Might just get one for just to have it in my collection of all things sharp and pointy. Have a great day.
Maybe you should consider getting some Kevlar crocs or maaybe some shoes to chop with. That axe would love to have a toe or two.
gstellmon not if you dont miss 😉
It's gotta be an awesome axe, because you cut that log quickly with that awful technique
was thinking the same thing, strength had a major roll in it. Im sure its a wonderful axe he is a great blade smith.
DIego AG checking the comments to see if it was just me..... Dude knows a lot more about woodworking than me but I think I could show him a proper axe swing
I saw the 2.5lb and the crocs and immediately hit subscribe. I said "buddy knows."
no deck update? awwww
wrap the main grip points with some leather to thicken up the handle and it'll look nice aesthetically with the rustic head/sheath he has going.
yes Master Bates!? sorry I had to lmao
Well he did mention fishing in the video, and to master fishing, one must first master bait
lol... yeah that is an acceptable nick name, norman is also semi acceptable.
At 5'7" maybe you should send it to me 😉 Great honest review on the axe👍
I would be hesitated and very cautious using $300 Liam Hoffman axe. I can't imagine LH axe aretwice as good/effective as GB axe.
I think you can chop wood better then Wolverine, and hes a pretty cool dude!
”pepe amazing plan” (Google it), is a very detailed woodworking book! By making use of this plan, I was able to use words, drawings, real photos and various diagrams. It`s unbelievably informative and helps me feel like I can help my sibling while we create our furniture together.
I'm at 5'8", at 6"6" your a 1 or 2 percenter. I'm crying a river. lol I thought for a second you birddogged your way into my favorite spot in Idaho. That is a gorgeous spot.
About 99% of ace builders and users are going to thin thin handles it actually helps keep hands from
Getting tire a big handle makes you tired but I can see wheee your coming from your not even close to average size lol
I'm pretty sure Liam has bigger hands than Jesse, so it's probably on purpose, to enhance shock absorption.
Thick handles on axes are terrible regardless of your size. A thicker handle doesn't flex, absorb shock, or lend itself to proper balance.
Oh cuz I’m a 6”6 oaf Liam must be small no Liam made it for the market most ppl are Liam size not 6’6 same length as a smf axe for a reason go buy a big boy axe
Only you could make a video of someone chopping a log interesting. I live in Anacortes WA just across the pond I'm a carpenter by trade if you're ever free I'd love to catch the ferry over there and maybe have a few beers and shoot the shit, a man date if you will lol. Take care man.
cable guy
Liam showed a video how to sharpen an axe with just a round stone and what an amazing result, you could get these Stones on Liams Site for around 20 Dollars i think
Should have notched a v in the stump to hold the log
Chris young Especially while wearing Crocks.
That's really poor and unsafe chopping technique. Cringe.
Really? C'mon take the holiday don't make a crap video of you chopping wood!
Dude........swinging in crocs -brother from another.
WHERE IS MY NEW VIDEO 6 /9:!7 YOUR SLACKING YOUR AVID FANS AWAIT
that was my only gripe with his axes; handles are too small for me.
Damm that is a quantity axe im buying that
Lol too skinny it’s meant to flex in the middle who is this noob
Jessie has a new segment. Tool using tools! LMAO
I must say you look much more skilled with a chisel :)
That log happens to be birch.
Yup. Minor glitch~ he was probably lookin' at a nice fir when he said what it was. I would bet that ax head that he knows the diff.
I'm sure it was just a slip
Robert Schuster looks a bit like aspen? It wouldnt be silver birch because that peels
unfortunaly your incorrent with Birch. i grew up in this area, this is a pacific silver fir (Abies amabilis) easy mistake to make :)nativeplantspnw.com/pacific-silver-fir-abies-amabilis/
to save all arguments it bloody fire wood
meh, not your best vid man...
You want skinny to stop vibration.
Well Tis a beautiful well thought out axe by Liam. Kudos. But being cheap I jumped on a Council Tool Camp Axe which is designed as a splitter. 5160 steel and also a hardened pole so you can hammer with it as well. Note my Grans Fors Bruks is my go to but around Camp , beating stakes, splitting wood for the fire the Council is boss. Thanks for sharing.
Samurai, - you're brilliant, funny, instructive, unique, and brave. However,... Your example of sometimes not wearing eye protection frightens me. Not just for your sake, but for many, many youngsters and beginning craftsmen who will mimic your mannerisms, and will inadvertently endanger their eyes. PLEASE be more careful, and promote safe shop practices, for everyone's good.
Yeah.. the Samurai.. crocs... blended graphic shants.. hanging wit' da budz outdoors. Life is good!
How much does the axe cost?
wrap the handle in leather
Drop your socks and grab your crocs, its time to get in the bush and swing a sharp axe in the direction of your feet with only some wood to stop it.
Yuge hands, big league.
That's wall all lumberjacks where you know... I mean why wouldn't you chop would in crocs :D
Yeah that's too pricey
sure sounded like "butt-hole lake"... ha ha. Show us the fish dude, everyone knows fishermen lie.
Check out the Aussie Snedden Razorback. Thick handle in the middle. Great balance.
Could put a custom wrap around where your hand is on the handle. Not a great solution because it may interfere with functionality and aesthetics.
I know your pain, lol. I'm about your size and most hand saws to me feel like apprentice size. Greetings from The Netherlands.
really enjoy the work he puts into the products....however, do I want a new camp axe...or a new 4wt for fishing...
My guess for the handle being thinner is that it may give a little more flex which can help reduce fatigue and absorb some force. My 2 cents.
Damn! Either Jesse is stronger than a mule's fart or the axe is a little on the sharp side. Can I get an AMEN!
How about tell us where we can buy the damn thing!
Lmao Liam Hoffman. Good luck getting one! We all need it. His axes literally fly off the shelves as soon as they go up for sale.
I always find it interesting that people spend so much time collecting fire wood while camping. Looks like a lot of work to me lol. I guess everyone has their own style.
Give that axe a good leather wrap and it could be about right.
Ax
Jonah Burros both spellings are acceptable, depending on your geography.
why don't you sharpen it in your review that's kinda ridiculous and get a full size axe
Carpenters should know birch from fir.
Well, you're obviously not a carpenter then cuz is Pacific Silver Fir. Don't quit your day job just yet ;)
There are neither birch nor aspen in that area. Doug Fir, Amabilis fir (pacific silver), red cedar, hemlock, alder and maple primarily.
@me us I agree, his channel is as enjoyable as this one, even though im more interested in woodwork.
get some rest, samurai, we all need to cut loose sometimes lol
Buy some gloves?
just wrap the handle with some grip, will widen it out and make it more comfortable to swing anyway
Not your best video ever but thanks for the info. Beautiful setting for the video though.
You need to go to the gym buddy. Not an insulate just concerned. LOL.
Jesse, love you man, but you gotta wear glasses chopping...
how do you get to Sheperd's bush?
up Sheperd's leg
now get out into 'the bush'
I'll be hitting Liam up for one in the near future, love his vids and his axes look amazing!
samurai
put a shallow groove in your chopping stump and the log wont move
It's good to see a youtuber who can actually hit where he aims with an axe.
Thanks.
The test on the ax was successfully carried out!
Yeah, Liam is a true craftsman for sure! More Samurai! Glad you are getting some good R&R.
If you had a full size axe that huffing would be minimal.
Nice spot there. Should'a shown us your camp setup
OF COURSE did you expect any less?
You can add a leather wrap to accommodate your large hands……
Skallagrim should do some abusive test on rocks
isnt this the 2.25 pound axe with the 25 inch handle?
Samurai, have you ever used a Gransfors Burks axe? If so, I was wondering if you would compare the two? Would love to see how one compares to the other. Thanks
jimgam730 Wranglerstar did a comparison video when he received his and said he was impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of the Hoffman axe. However, maybe it's too nice because he's still using his Bruks in his videos since. (he has used GFBruks for years and they have been his go-to's though)
try gloves helps a lot when swing an ax.
6 feet 6!!! I had know idea you were so tall
Your a beast samurai lifeguard dude!
Need a Liam Hoffman "Height Pool". I say he's 6' 1".
He's like 5'8"
👍👍
nice review, thanks
man... you dah man...
nice birch log;)
Nice chopper...! 😐
березы как в России, вы откуда?
"A dull tool is a dangerous tool"
Crazy sharp
nice
nic
beautiful opening scene Jesse. God's own country
From this to that it does look like England but it actually Canada cos everyone knows God's English
Axe!
Always doing amazing videos good job
damn, Mr samurai! you are 6'6" eh? very cool. im6. so, thanks for the lhax review, and looking forward to more. later
6 FT 6 I would bet 6'2 or 3 at best. My brother was 6'6 and i just came up to his chin and i'm only 6 ft even.
Are you saying he's not 6'6"? I've never known anyone that adds multiple inches to their height. Maybe round up, but he's not gonna lie about his height. He's clearly tall as hell.
Nicholas Tourloukis just skeptical is all. Someone that is 6ft 6 is really tall, i just don't see it. Not bashing the guy just an observation is all.
Corey Empey watch some of his videos where his head damn near hits the top of a door jam
