Hi! There was a bullfrog here for 2 summers that was huge! (and loud). I watched him all the time. He wasn't even scared by the dog or kitties going right up to him. Neat! No sign of him yet this year.
i have a friend who breeds european lizards with many species of wall lizards eyed lizards agamas etc... also dart frog uk often sell green toads bombinas and other temperate stuff. good luck. keep up the good work.
This is great! very inspirational. i keep goldfish and white clouds and I'm hoping to get some loaches. It's cute how the goldfish and the loach are 'friends'. For some reason, all of my elodea dies every year when my house drops below 16C. Yours looks so healthy, maybe it's the light?
Yes check your light as elodea can go down to below freezing in my ponds. It grows like a weed for me. I am trying to swap it out now for hornwort as I prefer it plus it is native to Europe.
You have some awesome fish, I used to have 5 white cloud minnows but they never spawned. The Flag fish look interesting I will look out for them next time I'm at the pet shop.
Cold Blood in Cold Climates thanks for the advice.Do you have preference in colour as I know yellow one is not natural to the wild so does it cause any problems to the fish.
Get a tank for stone loach and millers thumb. ive got them with my minnows and ive got nine spinned sticklebacks. The males go a lovely jet black when they nest etc
I LOVE LOVE your large newts really really makes me want to get some didn't even consider them till seeing this i have a 135 gallon tank in my basement it is about 68-70 ish in my room year round think all of those would do good not interested in the toxic ones you mentioned though
Never mix amphibians with fish. If the amphibians dont eat the fish, the fish will nip at them until they die. Some petshops say it is possible but they are wrong. Always ends in disaster. If you would like to keep newts, set them up in a tank of their own. They are so nice and you will appreciate them in their own habitat a lot more. They will be a lot tamer and show more natural behaviour. Amphibians avoid ponds with fish for breeding.
jst_diffrint narwal there is lots of care videos and information online. I do things my own way and I think people are only too willing to criticise online. This is just a diary of my collection
I'm so happy to see that you have a "weather loach" I had one many years ago and he/she was dark brown with a few speckles. I forget which time of year it was but he/she gradually turned pink. Any ideas as to why?? Thank you - great video as I am starting up again soon and this has been very helpfull,
Hey man do you sell any of your newt offspring I'd definitely be interested... I'm just outside Belfast... keep up with the videos you've inspired me to get a green house built and set up
Thanks for the tour :) You keep some very interesting species! I have been looking into the possibility of making a combined Bombina bombina - Hyla arborea aviary in my biggest greenhouse. Do you think it would be possible to keep the two species together, the aviary would be 2 x 1.8 x 1m with an 80 x 80cm. pond and a mixed vegetation of hazel and blackberry.
Dendrochirus zebra thank you for your comments. yes, that would work perfectly well. You could even include some midwife toads also. The tree frogs will stay in the bushes, the fire bellies in the pond and the midwifes on land. They wont interfere with each other. Make sure and use thornless blackberry.
Love your tanks ....amazing what you have done! I do have a question. Not sure if you can answer it, but would you know if I could keep Platies in a 20 celcius tank. Thanks
Cold Blood in Cold Climates thanks for the tip I will look out for those plants. Can you spell me the name of the large fish in with B tetras and P Cory so I can look it up as I would really like this in my tank.
Hello. Awesome aquarium room. I'm interested in keeping some fish to breed. My water sits around 16 degrees Celsius. What fish would you suggest are easier to breed? Thanks
Love your setup. Watched this video so many times been a real inspiration to me. Had white cloud minnows and pepper cory outside this summer because of you. I'm in the process of setting up a small fish room. I have two 6x2ft heavy duty stands and lots of small aquariums to play with. Which I have picked up for free over the last year. The room is a converted brick outhouse which I have insulated and have a low watt heater. I was thinking about heating more and having tropical fish but now thinking stay unheated. What fish species would you suggest for sub tropical/cold. Goldfish don't do much for me. I love the idea of European minnows but don't know where to buy them? Thanks for your thoughts.
Would the drogon looking fish do well at 68-70 degree water too? And what does the poison from the Spanish ribbed newts do to your skin if you handle them?
Brian Hunt which dragon fish? Ive never had any issues handling the ribbed newts. I dont recommend handling amphibians with out gloves anyway as our skin is harmful to them
ZeethK92 not really although I have heard they can be mean. My friend had some trouble with them last year. Keep a close eye on them and have a spare tank just incase. They love to eat algae, so a mature tank would be best.
Brian Hunt again, i wouldnt mix species. There are different coloured Spanish ribbed newts that can live together. Join caudata.org to learn all you need to know
I really love pet rooms when is not only ball pythons and leopard geckos...
Damn I'm so jealous of you. I really wanted a room and greenhouse like you.
the Baystander working on a new bigger room. Stay tuned
Work harder and by time you will get urz
nice collection
Love the fire-bellies!
Awesome and unique collection. I love your emphasis on temperate species.
Thank you, I will get some more videos up soon. this is only a small part of my collection
That is fascinating stuff!
Temperate species are so underrated! Personally I like them more than the tropical ones
Hi! There was a bullfrog here for 2 summers that was huge! (and loud). I watched him all the time. He wasn't even scared by the dog or kitties going right up to him. Neat! No sign of him yet this year.

You earned a sub! Please keep up the amphibians!
Thank you

They are easy to breed. Lots of plants for them to lay in and thats it. Make sure no other fish in the tank and the babies will just appear. Good luck
Cold Blood in Cold Climates thanks for the advice.Do you have preference in colour as I know yellow one is not natural to the wild so does it cause any problems to the fish.

Brilliant room.
Where can I get American bullfrog tadpoles ?
I need this room lol Great tanks!! Subbed you!
Get a tank for stone loach and millers thumb. ive got them with my minnows and ive got nine spinned sticklebacks. The males go a lovely jet black when they nest etc
What do you feed the millers thumb on as I imagine they can be tricky to get feeding after you've taken them out of the river into a tank
I LOVE LOVE your large newts really really makes me want to get some didn't even consider them till seeing this i have a 135 gallon tank in my basement it is about 68-70 ish in my room year round think all of those would do good not interested in the toxic ones you mentioned though
Brian Hunt look at spanish ribbed newts. They would do well for you in that set up

jst_diffrint narwal there is lots of care videos and information online. I do things my own way and I think people are only too willing to criticise online. This is just a diary of my collection

I do have a question. Not sure if you can answer it, but would you know if I could keep Platies in a 20 celcius tank. Thanks
Yes get the variatus platy. They do well in low temperatures
Cold Blood in Cold Climates Thank you so much. The next time I buy Platies I will try to get that breed.
Hi can you tell me easiest plants for cold water that you have successfully grown. I have Java moss but other plants seem to turn brown thanks.
elodea grows well as does hornwort. you should upgrade your lights if plants are turning brown, that maybe the issue. hope that helps.
Cold Blood in Cold Climates thanks for the tip I will look out for those plants. Can you spell me the name of the large fish in with B tetras and P Cory so I can look it up as I would really like this in my tank.

ZeethK92 not really although I have heard they can be mean. My friend had some trouble with them last year. Keep a close eye on them and have a spare tank just incase. They love to eat algae, so a mature tank would be best.
