This 16-inch-wide semi-hollow body guitar, with a solid maple block running lengthwise down the center, weighs just 7.30 lbs. and has a nice fat nut width of just over 1 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Laminated maple body with single binding on the top and back edges, one-piece mahogany neck with a typical 1960/61 thin profile. Bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 22 original jumbo frets and inlaid pearl dot position markers. Headstock with inlaid pearl "Gibson" logo and pearl crown inlay. Two-layer (black on white) plastic truss-rod cover. Serial number ("21391") impressed into the back of the headstock. Individual single-line Kluson Deluxe tuners with double-ring Keystone plastic buttons and "D-169400 / PATENT NO." stamped on the underside. Oval orange label inside the bass f-hole with the style "ES-335TD" written in black ink and the serial number "21391" stamped in black. Two original 'double-black' "PAF" humbucker pickups with outputs of 7.68k and 7.41k. The solder joints on the pickup covers are untouched and the black rectangular "PAF" label on both pickups are intact. The black plastic pickup rings are stamped on the underside "MR491 / M-69 7" and "MR490 / M-69 8" respectively. Five-layer (black/white/black/white/black) 'short' plastic pickguard with beveled edge. Four controls (two volume, two tone) plus three-way pickup selector switch, all on lower treble bout. Black plastic bell-shaped knobs with white markings and metal tops. ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic non-retainer bridge with metal saddles and original 'Bar-Stud' tailpiece.

I didn't even get online to listen to this guitar. I searched all over to hear another guitar, and all anyone does is play crappily through a bunch of different effects that THEY like and I never feel like I freaking hear what the guitar is. What do I do? I type in Phil X so I can hear the full potential of what a guitar can express AND still hear the true nature of the instrument, even through the monkey and robot. Thank you Phil X and Andertons for allowing ppl to actually hear guitars when they search online to hear freaking guitars. What a concept

What's the matter? He can do whatever he wants with his nails -.- Whether he paints them or not, he's still badass.
Child in time was recorded using a 335.
If you really have a problem with people complaining about your clean tone funk and blues (not me! i'm down with it!), you should play the intro to "flippin out" and stuff like it. I'm not trying to kiss ass or suck up, it's just that that piece utilizes more or less every part of the neck, different strings in different registers, shows harmonics and is very clear. I think "flippin out" and a few clean chords can teach you almost everything about a guitar's clean tone capabilities.
@16forever Actually...ToneMonster isn't used by ANYONE...Fender did not want us using it (or any variation), so out of respect, we picked something else...just so you can get your facts straight!
I gotta say, I LOVE when you do the American Woman tone. I bet the people that don't like it REALLY don't like it, but those of us who do like it REALLY like it.

@gibbie31 There's been Fender players who have changed over to Gibsons. It's all a matter of personal choice and what makes the most sense for the artist at that particular time.

@gibbie31 well strats for one are more versatile, have a more definitive sound and are more melodic. i guess thats why you see so many gibson to strat switches

@Dogfish360 I think Phil plays a Yamaha SG1800 on stage. I have an old Yamaha SG1000 myself they are really underrated guitars well worth a look.
I know you guys are pushing the Evil Robot and all but its just not cutting the cheese as the clean amp replacement for the Vox AC30. It sounds like there's a blanket over the 335.

I really miss the AC30. Love the Evil Robot, but it's nice to have a "benchmark" amp in your vids as well. Besides, who doesn't love the chime of an AC30??

@ArijanDT you shoud try hem. they sound bad on video but i bought one. best amp i could ever get... it get the exact tone you need for metal,blues,rock,hardrock,ledzep (ye they are unique for me) or whatever. its just the best amp i could've gotten
