- I have a couple of exercises that I assign to my beginning students to help develop a flexible wrist, to improve their bowing technique. One is a fun contest called the "spider race," and the other is a table-top exercise.
Spider walking on the up-bow helps, but going down is hard! Have yet to do it correctly. The exercise with arm flat on table and raising bow up and down with the wrist is brilliant. I could feel my fingers talking over. Thanks!
I'm glad you found it helpful!
thank you so much. i hope this exercise will help my wrist flexibility.
Out of all the videos I watched, you're the best on this topic and on your explanation. Despite being one without a private teacher yet, I feel that you are right beside me.
Thank you for your kind words!
Thank you so much. Returned from a lesson this morning and it just seemed impossible to do. This exercise helped immensely !!!
I no longer do the newsletter -- and I have moved to Grand Prairie, TX, -- but I'm currently seeking students both online and in-person.
This was very helpful! Thank you!
Excellent bow arm! You don’t see this any more. So many violinist today hold a bow terribly. The real tradition is lost😞
