oddly enough thats Okinawa's home food staple. its from America's military bases stationed at the island since ww2. though the dish probably came many years after ww2.
There's also the Nikkei cuisine that exists, Japanese-Peruvian fusion. There is certainly some Japanese-Brazilian cuisine as well but I haven't heard of it for now
I used to get this from a Japanese man in a little town called Hinoko, just outside of Camp Schwab in Okinawa. I would stop by this Japanese man's home-stall where he lived on top, and cooked food on the bottom. It was the best bang for your buck sober or drunk. This hit all the time. If I ever go back, I'd definitely stop by.
In the Thumbnail it almost looked like a dish in Mexico called “Chilaquiles” I was about to say your in for a treat but that also looks good. Saludos 🇲🇽🇺🇸
dude lets be real, it's pretty hard to go wrong combining two cultures foods lol. food is like the pinnacle of a culture, it's all the good shit and none of the bad xD
I think that food is evolving from its traditional dishes as restaurants incorporate dishes inspired by traditional methods. Fusion dishes such as the one you got Ben, are also becoming more common.
Being in Arizona I'm surprised no one has done this out here. Tex mex is huge out here and we have a Chinese-mexican fusion spot called Chino bandito it was on diners drive ins and dives. Place is a Phoenix staple.
Anyone else notice that low buzzing noise in the back? It's been there ever since Ben changed the background back to dark. I think the sound was better in his vids from like 2020. Love the videos, just wanted to bring up a point.
To anybody saying it’s just chipotle or a burrito bowl, the distinction in the ingredients is Japanese white rice, soy sauce, mirin, and sake. Ben also admits at the end it’s still super close to a taco salad lol
It’s weird I never really get to eat what this man Ben eats cause of his stuff being in Korea, but living in Okinawa that taco rice junk slap hard as a mf 💀 when I first had taco rice I thought they’d use Mexican rice. Not that big a difference to me

Thank you Ben for teaching me that Japanese-Mexican fusion food exists

I would call that a taco salad, but without the tortilla. Looks good though. The egg is also a nice touch
Man, you should look at mexican sushi, sinaloa style sushi is on a whole ‘nother level
"mouth starts drooling like pavlovs dog" LMAO

Put all of that in a tortilla and you'll have yourself a mean burrito🤤
