    Wow the patience it would take to grow pineapples. Glad someone grows them because I really love them.

    Back in the 1980's, Dole had a canning facility near Pearl Harbor. They had a massive, pineapple shaped, water tower. We would take radar fixes on "The Pineapple" to help us determine our location the harbor.

      Yes sir. You used to see pineapples everywhere in the 1980's in Hawaii . Not nearly as much any more. I actually brought a couple cases of fresh pineapple home to south texas. We planted 10 of the tops in 5 gallon buckets. Most survived and in several years had small pineapples on a few. This was mostly for fun. Much better to go to the local grocery store. Much of the pineapple today is from costa rica or central america.

      Not as much on Oahu anymore, but still on the other islands. The biggest problem with pineapples in HI, is that once you eat them their, you're spoiled for any other pineapple you may come across. They are sooooo good. Lived in Makakilo in the 80s...the whole Ewa plain is housing now too instead of the glorious sugar cane. :-)

    While on our honeymoon in May 1979, we toured the Dole Pineapple factory in Honolulu. Every bit of the pineapple is used from fruit, juice, and remains which become animal feed. At the end of the tour, cold pineapple juice spigots and cups were available for refreshment. So sweet and low in acid! I’m glad you too have good pineapple honeymoon memories!

    I don’t remember which video I left my comment on late last year but I was just complimenting you on your charisma, voice and lots of things you have going for you and I’ve wondered if my comment was a bit too strong? Anyway the good thing is that you can genuinely smile in your videos which is something I’m not good at in my videos on my very amateur channel. It’s truly beautiful to see a young couple so happy to be around each other. I’m in Stillwater Minnesota. My family had a dairy farm 5 miles north of Grand Meadow Minnesota that was sold in early 1981 when I was 14. And what am I doing decades later? Watching farming videos. I even rent pole barn storage on an old farm. I have garden tractors and Ford Rangers and I tinker. I’d go crazy if I don’t have an excuse to get out of the house away from my mom.

    Hello from Germany!
    Unfortunately, the VW vans are no longer produced in this form. I just want to throw that in once. My father had one for years and was very happy with it. These transpoters are now rarities that fetch good prices. The newer ones aren't as popular as these for a long time.
    Thanks for the beautiful videos you are making. I'm interested in farming in America and the machines. In terms of dimensions alone, this is a completely different matter than here in southwest Germany. Although the farms are also getting bigger and using modern machines. I myself grew up on a farm that no longer exists. It was a great time and good life experience.
    Maybe you should try growing pineapples yourself. 😁
    Greetings
    Stefan

      So many farms in England no longer exist, as recent governments have not focussed on controlling our population, and instead encouraged uncontrolled building of houses, etc. It is such a shame as the English countryside is being swallowed up by tarmac and brick.

    • @stefanjung4454
      @stefanjung4454 3 года назад

      @@thetessellater9163, The farm belongs to a close friend of the family. My great-grandfather was a shepherd and also friends with the family on the farm. A shepherd was like a veterinarian back then. Before a farmer asked a veterinarian, he brought the shepherd. That was a question of cost because the shepherd was satisfied with a good meal. That's how they explained it to me. The children are not interested in agriculture and have better jobs. A lot of money should have been invested in the farm in order to comply with the strict and modern regulations of agriculture. Since the farmer has reached retirement age, it was obvious to give up farming. The size of the company would not have paid off either. The farm was too small to survive today's price war. So it is another farm that fell victim to the death of the farm. I would never have even dreamed of it! An ice-cold shiver runs down my spine when I see the empty, dead-silent stable today. There was always life in the house. It was never cold either. Today it is quieter than any cemetery, and in winter it is colder than some can imagine. It was once the second largest farm in town. Now it's an empty, dead house that is way too big and way too old. I think the next step is to demolish the building and build new homes on the site. My youth on this farm was very formative for me. The farmer treated me like his own son. And the time there was the best of my life. Even if you had to work hard and a lot. But I will never forget this time. It's just a shame that such a farm is also subject to impermanence.

This is for the people reading it, and for you next time you tie something down on a motorcycle. I followed that pineapple boom 8 hours a a day, 6-days a week between my junior and senior years in high school, for. $1.60/hour. That job taught me 2 things, perseverance, and that I did not want to spend my life doing field labor. The first was much more valuable than the $320.00 that I took home at the end of the work contract.
