    I’m always amazed at how big of bait fish will eat. We caught a perch on a 5” pike minnow the other day. Crazy. Great video!

    Love that philosophy. I always say the same, guys in southern mi and in Houghton wonder why I release all the big crappie and bluegill. Would rather see it again someday than get a little meat.

    All these fish (both the perch and the pike) were fat and healthy! I need to get out again soon - the ice has been so thin here in west Michigan. Hoping for a couple weeks of cold weather to thicken it up a bit 🤠

    In Maine when they catch a perch they leave it to the eagles despite we have huge ones compared to other states.

    Always take your bait out. They'll never actually eat it. Plus I save dead baits that are half eaten for slow days and they do the trick sometimes.

    Great looking pike and pup. Is that dog a Cheegle... part Chihuahua and part beagle? Sharp looking little pup!

      Thanks! Not 100% sure on the breed but the vet thinks shes a basenji mix. She just turned 6 months, but was the runt of the litter so is a bit smaller.

    You can easy use a bit bigger bait and hook to get the real big ones. :) Fishing alot of perch in Sweden and they like big lures or baits.

      The perch you have over there are a different species and grow much larger.

      All the snow made for a lot of slush and some weak shore ice. But you should be able to find some safe ice around there.

    Check out Carl & Alex's "Quest for a monster", Carl catches a 31lb Pike near the end of the video, dunno how long it was but its a beast! Carl I guess is about your age...
