Great idea and a very well made video. I love fixing old coolers for the exact same reason - they tend to get borrowed a lot by my buddies and this way it doesn't hurt too much if it never comes back.
Excellent thank you. Great way to stop all this cheaply made crap from clogging up our landfills. Also a good way to stop corporations from taking unfair advantage of people by selling stuff to break down too quick. Nice presentation.
I got a question I was wondering why don't you get some cheapo Depot cabinet hinges and put on there or just taking them off a cabinet that doesn't need hinges anymore
I'm a pretty handy guy and come up with fixes all time but this one makes me feel like a dumb ass;-) I have a Coleman Xtreme with the same problem. have been thinking about what to do as the local sporting goods never have the hinges and never seem to get around to ordering on line. Finally googled and found some Stainless Steel hinges for $10.00 plus shipping and then thought to youtube it and this vid came up. Great job and thanks.
Can you stand on the lid? what about fixing the cracked handles? and got a few with the sides cracked like spiderwebs from setting in the shed....seriously thinking about a Yeti

I've used several layers of the plastic from big bags of dog/cat food comes in. Seat belt material works. Fireman's hose material
was so excited when I seen this video last night I stayed up late because we needed the cooler next day. awesome tip how bout repairing the bracket that connects to cooler for the side handles. much thanks
Rock Star, did you really just take 13:44 of my life to rig jug plastic hinges and scrap strap keepers? Really? Just show the before and after in the first 30 seconds then play out the rest for yourself. Not nearly as good as the paper hog trap. That rocked. Keepin it real.
And then sir you don't have to keep replacing and cutting out more plastic I'm pretty sure those antifreeze bottles can be used for something else though
Tnx for sharing buddy it helps me to my cooler
Glad to help!

Bro, you're like a doctor but cooler! Lol🤣🤘

How do you fix a split seam on a cooler? I fixed my hinges using a plastic jug and nylon drywall tape.
Never attempted to fix a split seam before. I'll have to look into it!
@@704outdoorsI was thinking about a 2 part epoxy for plastic. The split on the outside won't affect the temperature will it?
Great idea !!!
3006USMC Thanks!
Michael Weber When they break I'm really not wanting to try to find a store that has them! No one around here carries them!
Also let you know they're on jewelry boxes on Old chest boxes and sometimes their own on Old Plano boxes that are falling apart
You could use those if you had them on hand

Seat belt strap is the best.
good idea!
Nylon strap/ seat belt material make longer lasting hinges.
It can!
The hinges that you need are a 1:84$
camp fix or when you can't get the hinges locally.

These aren't lifetime coolers. This is a easy fix for a cheap cooler.
New Coleman hinges are $2.99 each online.
This is for it you needed to fix in a pinch
Make any RUclips money from this video?
Not sure but thanks for watching!
