The Mpc does have a similar method of step sequencing , I’ve only just found it myself. Just go into list mode and step through using tc setting as step length.

I like using portable hardware devices for gigs - I can carry them in my panniers and e-bike to the gig. This looks like a lot of fun and, more importantly, it sounds really good even after nearly thirty years. I'd happily add a dedicated drum machine and bass synth to the mix - you don't want everything to be in one box (otherwise, why go DAWless?), you get better, more controllable sounds and the audience likes to see you keep the plates spinning rather than just standing over one device, pushing buttons. Great video.

Awesome video, Floyd! In this particular example, the really staggering differences in finished results between QY70 and MPC One are drum sounds, the kick is TOO clicky on MPC though. As you mentioned in the comments, RS7000 vs MPC One was probably a better match, due to RS7000 offering a lot more options than QY70/QY100.
I know that's not the point of this video though, but I would rather treat my QY100 like an external sound module: use internal sequencer to program some stuff (even though sometimes it can be a hassle)... and then record audio output, track by track in DAW. Not that QY has bad effects, they're just aren't as tweakable as VST... with them you can push built-in drum sounds to a new level! And it irks me very much how QY70 has a much better clap sample than QY100 xD

      Thank you very much!
To be honest, when I finished this video, I wanted to throw it into the bin because I felt I approached the whole thing from a wrong angle.
One of my ideas was indeed to record everything track by track and then polish it in Reaper. But then again, that would have kind of missed the point (plus I already did that in this channel with the Lo Fi Hiphop track ruclips.net/video/p3mqlV-K2Oo/видео.html )
Overall, I think the QY70 held up surprisingly well, only the the drums are a bit out of fashion ;-)

QY100: small, portable, audio in for vocalists and guitarists
QY70: even smaller, no audio in, but "groove templates" (which quantize your drum parts according to several traditional styles)
I ultimately kept the QY70, it's nice and small, and I like my gadgets.
The QY100 uses smartmedia cards, those are obsolete now.
