Great video! I got a tattoo in Soweto but had no idea of the size. Tried food in Mamelodi without knowing what it was and was glad I found out afterwards. Cow head was actually tasty. My first braai was in Tembisa. So much more to see when I get back next month and ultimately move in a few months !
I'm glad you enjoyed the township brother Mac. I'll get Rickey to try the cuisine that is offered in the township. When i offered him tripe and cow head, he was a bit nervous, but i'll gradually get him to try them out. 😊
South African townships are literally affordable compared to the suburbs, the challenge is uncontrolled immigration and over population which give rise to informal structures, slums and overburden infrastructure like sewage ect! But yea black South Africans do love their neighborhoods!

I went to the South African embassy last week for my visa appointment. I believe I was the only black person waiting for an appointment. Although I had all the required documents, the clerk informed that I need to write a motivational letter to increase my chances of getting a visa because they are flooded with applications. She smiled and said what is going on in South Africa, the volume of people applying for visa is unusual.
Where are others going cause we don't want them here😂😂,we want our melenated people here cause we are done with them. I wish you all the luck I hope you get approved to join us in South Africa.
I grew up watching the news and reading about apartheid in SA and Soweto, but had no clue that Soweto was so large. And what really gets me is that it's clean; no garbage on the strewn all over the streets like you see in some neighborhoods here. Sfiso is an amazing guide, is he for hire?!! By the way, fried frog legs are great...the bigger the better, tastes like chicken 🤣.Thanks for the great content Rickey! Viva Soweto!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The taxi systems runs just like how the taxi services are in Jamaica. The owner tells the driver how much they want by the end of the day or week and so the drivers they be going hard to meet those demands to give the owners and to make extra for themselves. Also that whole area that you guys are driving through reminds me so much of Jamaica.
Unfortunately we didn't get an opportunity to eat, we just took a drive around kasi. I'm taking him back soon and this time i'll get hime to try some of the delicacies offered eKasi.
Mama Jones, we will definitely tour Soweto and other townships when you return. It was a missed opportunity when you were here in December, because that is when the townships are vibrant.

oh man this took me back to my soweto years, you indeed can be there without ever needing to leave, i used to walk to the mall and back for groceries, plus you can literally get a full stomach a day on just 15 Rands , even less, As Trevor Noah also mentioned in his book he used to survive on R10 a day when visiting his friends at Alexandra.. Townships are awesome , great communities. great food , great people always eager to show you around and show you where all the good spots are.
Great episode, the real tour of Soweto. Townships were meant as concentration camps to serve the white needs. What people don't talk about is the negative psychological aspect which still lingers on. I am big on energies and great environments. I am one of those who advocate getting out of the concentration camps and living wherever you want to live or can afford to live. We are free now. The confinement aspect still shackles our minds and souls, it is subliminal but the shackles are still there.
Our problem is not that our mind are not free no, the problem is economic structure of SA exclude black majority.black ppl have become white capital protector, to perpetuate this exclusion.we are economically excluded
