Knowing what phenomena is possible to simulate will help you to decide whether if mechanical analysis is the proper tool for the study that you need to do. Further, being aware of the analysis types that are available will lead to more quickly being able to select the study type that will have the types of loads that you need to apply and produce the type of output that you are interested in.

Nothing! Because when I start Inventor Nastran it crashes. Over n over. Just got the link for ME to fix it along with instruction to fix Inventor not responding when I try to open a file. Typical Autodesk fails. They just never get better at what really matters to people. Reliability.
do you need inventor nastran or only inventor to do that? thank,

This is available within Inventor. Inventor has some basic FEA capabilities. For more in depth analysis with more complicate physics you would need Nastran. If you have the Product Design and Manufacturing Collection Inventor Nastran is included.
