There’s something oddly comforting about imagining yourself in the 90’s sitting at home half-asleep late at night after a long day at work, easing your mind before bed by watching a late-night marathon of Shining Time Station/Thomas the Tank Engine of all things. I bet you a lot of adults back then found comfort in listening to Ringo or George’s gentle storytelling…
Oh, I remember telling you about this! I actually stumbled upon the info about the Shining Time Station blocks looking for Noddy Shop info, I believe. This is pretty cool. And it's weird how the test signal beeping starts before the colored bars!
I know that in 1997-August or September 1998 they only used ptv park stuff with the 1997 WETA logo, but I think I vaguely remember from around August/September 1998-March 2000 I saw early versions of the fablevision weta bumpers without the kids name in the WETA logo but only for coming up next bumpers such as the Arthur ones and for local funding bumpers, while the station ids were either ptv/ptv park, the adult ids, or a kids id with the 1997 weta logo used exclusively for weta before those were replaced by the live action ids with the colored bars and the weta kids logo, the farm and rainforest ptv place weta kids ids, and the white background with red bars weta kids station ids respectively. I know you probably won’t have videos from that era but I wonder if you remembered something like this as well or did you only remembered WETA using ptv place fablevision bumpers during the early weta kids era of April 2000-September 2006?
This SSB clip was also used by WUAB in Lorain-Cleveland, Ohio (Sunday AM Sign-On/Monday PM Sign-Off) when they we're owned by Gaylord Broadcasting Company.
Broadcast rights expired - shows that are no longer in production can only be rerun for so long. Even if the national rights get expired some stations may continue to air said show.
Shining Time Station was basically our short lived version of the British show Thomas & Friends. Shining Time Station ran from 1989 to 1993. They did do some family specials in 1995, then that was it. The show was done.
I love the old CPB logo (the big circle and left-justified text) and the old WETA logo. Thank you so much for finding this, Christian!
Wow. WETA was what I watched growing up PBS kids wise. I don’t remember this, being two at the time, but this is a great find!
The first 20 seconds alone of this video brings back memories. I vaguely yet distinctly remember Shining Time Station.

Wow! Sign Off In A Middle Of A PBS Kids Block!
Nope, this was at night time. :)
Yes
Don't remember off the top of my head. Mostly random episodes from the first season I think, and one episode of Mr. Conductor's Thomas Tales.
Paint the Town Red
Wow! I Can't Believe PBS Kids Ran In The Nighttime Because How Shining Time Station Ran At Nighttimes Instead Of Daytimes.
Uh, what the hell was WETA actually like for PTV Park when they officially launched it’s current logo in 1997?!

WETA doesn’t do this anymore, Does anyone have a sign on
I find it strange that Shining Time Station was on so late at night.
You do?
@@ekaterinalekkas2356: Well, it wasn't very common to run the kids' programs so late, was it?
No.
