    Although this video could have been far better... As a recent purchaser of this product, I can confirm that the tumbler does sharpen well. I was reluctant to buy but this weekend I sharpened all of my knives at home. All of them went from tearing through a piece of paper to slicing through it effortlessly. I just wanted to put that out there for anyone who was contemplating purchasing this product.

      The first step is to sharpen a new constant angle of 15 or 20 degrees for the first time. Most knives have a certain angle from the factory, which is between 15 and 20 degrees, but it is not always consistent. The first sharpening therefore takes between 2 and 6 minutes. For special blades with high hardness, such as Damascus, it can take up to 10 minutes. From the second use, after the knife has become a little dull again, the re-sharpening takes only a few moves forward and backward, because the grinding angle is already given by the first re-sharpening.

    • @tumblerusa
      @tumblerusa  Год назад

      Tumbler has a diamond disc for your basic sharpening and a stainles steel honing disc to remove the burr that can occur during the sharpening. There is one on each side so you don’t have to switch them out!

    • @_idk_18
      @_idk_18 Год назад +1

      @@tumblerusa but strops are for removing burr, and the point of changing grit if that you want to remove a lot of material first so you don't take forever grinding it down. Then go higher and higher in grit to refine the grain. I'm just confused because idk much about knife sharpening but Ik that from watching a lot of videos and reading books from people who diffidently know what they're talking about. Not hating just wondering why your use and language is so different to ,it seems, the rest of the community. Thank you and I'll probably buy one to check it out myself

    • @JasonBreslow
      @JasonBreslow Год назад

      @@_idk_18 My exact thought as well. I've seen some other rollers out there that have have interchangable discs with different grits on them so that you can do exactly what you're talking about. I feel like those would be better options.

  • @markschumacher7408
    @markschumacher7408 Год назад

    Those particles on the knife edge are the burr. They also appear on the knife edge when sharpening with a whetstone. Because the burr would be on the knife edge regardless of how the knife is sharpened, we can safely conclude that the particles are not there because the blade had become magnetized.
