1. Choose your top five goals 2. Track your time 3. Ask for help 4. Assign your environments a purpose 5. Make time for self care 6. Top three non- negotiable: eat, sleep, have a good morning 7. Prioritize your time
One of the best advices I took from a TED Talk was: "The problem is not that we don't have enough time. It is that we do not prioritize!". The example given was to ask someone working a 9 to 5 if they do have time to try something new for 1 hour every day. Most will say no. But if a pipe bursts in your cellar, suddenly there is plenty time to focus on getting the pipe repaired - it becomes a priority! Setting goals and prioritize them is exactly what you are describing!😁 Thank you for your videos and for taking your time to spend on giving us these, helpful and funny videos! 😊 Love your advices and your videos! 😍
Kiahna White I was so afraid for 9 years... 9 years! Kept thinking I had to have to perfect setup or I just didn’t have time. I’m telling you, JUST START. I will be your first subscriber! 🙌 I started RUclips as a single mom, with a full time job and trying to start another business. YOU GOT THIS! ❤️
Kiahna White NEVER give up! You feel it in your heart ❤️ do what makes you happy! You’ve already done the hardest part, you started! Just keep going, your good!
“What would you do if you were unafraid?” Oh, you have no idea the impact fear has had on my life over the last ten years. Conquering it has been a focus over 2019 and it’s a process for sure. If I was unafraid and believed emotionally in the potential that I mentally believe I have, I would live a completely different life. But, like I said, it’s a process and I’m getting there...
Thank you Amy. This video is so very relevant to most of us! 💕Pursuing a doctorate in psychology. Mom to 4 kids. Decluttering the entire home. Getting ready to move. Doing to my utmost to keep up a strong spiritual practice. Growing a side hustle. One family crisis after another... It’s fair to say I do have a ton on the plate, as do so many of us these days, to the point of overwhelm! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping clarifying the process. Love the notion of prioritizing the top 5. 💕💕💕xo
I’m late to watching;) catching up on all things AmyTV right now💛. After my brother passed away over the summer it wiped me out emotionally for several months. Soooo Happy to be getting more back to myself & my life! Amy I so appreciate all your tips, YOU’RE the BEST!!!!! I want to finally step out on those goals and do them instead of writing them down year after year & month after month. 😊. I’m gonna write down on piece of paper #JustDoITAlready🤣. Thanks Amy!!!! "Your time is your time..." ♥️ This! This is just like I've been learning and reading in "Boundaries" by Cloud and Townsend. So good to remember for us achievement focused types!
Thank you very much Amy.i am from pakistan and time managment is the biggest space that i found in my society.it,s not only me who take benefit from your wounderful tips but i share them to others.i really appreciate your effort.May God make you happy ever..
Loooove the idea of writing down 25 goals and then circle only 5! I was doing that and then I was thinking "what if I do the same thing with all the things I want to buy?". I find myself always investing my money in food, gym and work... which is great sure, but I never buy stuff for me to improve my personal life or just to feel good. Maybe doing that 25 list of things could help me understand how to treat myself sometimes. How do you organize your money? I would like some advice from you if you have any :)
I think everyone should remember to take time for self care! everyone's always on the go and living fast paced lives. We need to remember about taking care of ourselves and bodies too and slow down for a minute. Love you Amy!
You are the only one who has helped me make time blocking work for me! I have 2 young kids, study and work part time. Thank god for my google calendar! 💕💕
It's very true what you are saying about goal setting and scheduling. Since getting clearer about my goals and schedule, I found that I haven't watched Netflix in days! I love the GTD system by David Allen. I used to go crazy trying to remember stuff and I felt like I was always forgetting something. Now every thought is captured into an easy system and it helps me so much stay accountable and plan my week efficiently. I also very agree with self-care. This is something I really struggle with as a mom of 3, but it's so important if we want to be able to keep up with all our responsibilities to take the time to fill up our own tank! Thanks for sharing ox
I just found your channel today and it is truly a blessing so far. I just started a business- storefront last month and I still have a full time job. You've given me hope that I can really do this. Thank you!! ❤️
Tracking time was most helpful tip for me. I used to be skeptical of this idea as it seemed impractical, however this time I found a very convenient time tracking app (toggl) and it is really changing how I treat my time - it makes me feel more responsible for my time and because I track everything I do, I’m so much more aware of it so time doesn’t just slip through unnoticed. I’ve been tracking my time now for almost 1 week and it definitely helped me to be more focused and efficient and even procrastinate less. I’m excited, hope my progress will continue!
Loved this video and it came at the right time for me. I am in the process of transitioning to editing full time as a career with no day job to back me up, and it is terrifying, but at the same time so oddly liberating. The hard part has been figuring out the productivity parts of the day to get everything done that I need to get done while not sacrificing too much time with family and friends.
I found your channel over the weekend, and I have to say, I'm really wow'd by your content. I am really enjoying them. I am a work in progress and am really trying to dig in and create the life I want. I'm getting closer and I welcome you on my journey!
I love your question because fear really represents a big obstacle for me! I would probably study in an other country, travel for ecological aims like planting trees, and talking to people from all around the world !
Yesss! The juggle is real girl. I'm always hearing “just figure out how to get more done.” But that doesn’t actually work out in the end. We just end up doing more and squeezing more into an already tight timeframe. I made a video about how to work smarter and not harder. And actually focus in on the things that will not only get us more done in a shorter time, but getting the RIGHT things done. It’s such an important distinction, I think. I really loved this. XO.
Love this video! I would love to see you speak on balancing daily to-do’s and knocking tasks out vs. thinking strategic, big picture and keeping perspective. What’s your process for balancing both?
Thank you for sharing such great insights. I've been feeling really down lately since I am nowhere near achieving my goals. I waste a lot of time and honestly I dint even know where my time was getting wasted. I'm gonna try your methods right now and see where life takes me. Once again, thank you.
You are incredible Amy exactly what I needed to hear today! I procrastinate and then burn the candle at both ends and the procrastinate because I've used all my energy without giving myself breaks. Thanx for all you do.
Thank you :) and also I think if we find ourselves spending too much time on activities that are not in line with our 5 top goals, maybe asking ourselves "How does this behaviour/activity serve me? What needs lead to this behaviour?" and then finding healthier or more meaningful substitute for them to meet our needs will help us to attend to our top goals and priorities as well.
You are just getting SO good at this youtube thing. I have loved watching your videos for over a year, and the edit for this was so great. I don't know if you did anything different, but everything worked so well in this ideo. Also, let's be real, your new hair is the star. Rock it :)
If I m unafraid, I would probably do all the things that runs in my mind. Like going out alone on a trip or do what makes me happy without thinking about what others might think of!
Excellent share Amy, really find these tips helpful. I particularly agree with the time tracking one, not least because it helps us understand where we lose time in the day
😱 how did you know? Are you like Alexa and you listen to everything that is going on in my house? 😂 Right now I’m having a problem with wanting to relax and increase my knowledge by playing word games as well as trying to keep my mind fresh... while trying to get stuff done. Big problems I know! 🤪 Thank you for the awesome video!
*he actually said that was not his advice* its a quote thats been popularized but thats not who said it. Its not terrible advice - many people need to do that to rank what they want and to buffer the fluff and limit distractions.
Definitely a fan of less is more when it comes to major goals. I time track EVERY thing with Toggl and it’s been a life changer as I always know now how longs things actually take me and what I can delegate or cut out.
Do you have tips or advice for assigning locations when you live in a small studio apartment? Before corona, I used to go to cafes as my productivity location to prep for work, study, or something. I liked having that sort of physical compartmentalization
if you are in a job you hate, or a toxic environment, do everything you possibly can to get out of that situation immediately. Put out applications everywhere. Apply for jobs you don't think you're qualified for. Take a job that will pay the bills and just keep walking away from abusive situations. Do not stay in a toxic situation any longer than you absolutely have to if it's destroying your happiness and health. i have stayed in horrible situations far too long with evil bosses, and i am here to tell you that if i find myself in that situation again i will be putting every bit of energy i am able into leaving a bad situation, and doing so as many times as i need to.
Another on point video just when I need it. Thank you for making my Monday morning commute so enjoyable. I look forward to travelling with you each Monday
Hi Amy love the video - I do have a question, however. I love the idea of physically separating our space by activity however I and many other college kids have limited space in a dorm room. For example, I have a desk and a bed - I eat, work/study and play video games at my desk and watch tv/sleep in bed. How can people in small spaces mentally separate their space?
Same boat over here. Keep at least where you *work* separate from the others. Whether it’s trying to leave home to work regularly so your room is just for fun stuff, or just keep everything unimportant away from the desk so it’s for work only.
I’d be a freelance writer full time instead of trading my time for dollars with an employer. But I’m a single Mom with kids, so I need the steady paycheck and benes. I have a good freelance side hustle and I love it, but I work all the time! I’d love to freelance full time because I think eventually it would allow me to have the good life I truly want and work less.
