There are three things that you can do. The first is to pick up enough paint on the brush. If there is too little paint it can't spread. The second is to add water to the paint. I do this on the palette to adjust the paint's consistency. The thinner the paint, the more the paint will flow off the brush. When the paint is thin you will also find that if you use a softer brush, like a rigger or fine liner, the paint will flow off of it better than a hard bristle brush. I hope that helps Annette.
