Hello. I went to Landers last year and joined. I like the store. I'll be back to Bacolod later this year, visit S & R, and will join also. Great video and thank you for sharing!
From the US I went to Costco all the time, I moved here and lived in Alabang for over a year right across the street from S&R and would go there every week Now living in Bacolod I was excited when I saw they were building an S&R here! Ive been to Landers here and I wasnt very impressed

Landers indeed is catered more towards the upscale market with its array of merchandise and the way their interiors are organized. Even the exterior design of their store looks more upscale. Indeed, Landers know how to compete with the one who came before them. That's the mantra of any business who wants to take on a challenge to compete. A challenger has to be better than the one being challenged.
I’m amazed and baffled how Bacolodians can afford these items and selections available and the turnover of these items especially the perishables and freshly baked goods.🤔 I was at Landers late February. At least you can get a free haircut 😊
Now if only the providing body of electricity stops being incompetent and become more efficient in providing power to the city 😂 Darn you CENECO and your constant brownouts/blackouts ✊
This is a great side by side comparison video. It must have been a pain in the ass to edit back and forth between the two. For anyone sitting on the fence, this is the video you need to watch.

I'll definitely visit Landers there in a couple months and try out the new restaurants around Bacolod. Pendy's and Lopue's in the 70's/80's , Robinson's in the 90's, SM in the 2010's used to be the real go to places for groceries. Bacolod has come a long way! Edit: I didn't know they also sell non edible stuff (furniture and appliances) - can't eat those!
I get it now..the reason maybe S&R has taken into consideration on making it a two storeys and the Supermaket is elevated is because they look into possiblity that in the future...the place might be reached by the sea water due to the rising sealevel or the place is lower in elevation and a catch basin during monsoons...
Do they get busy enough to turnover the merchandise quickly? My concern with Landers is the expiration dates. The freezer section is okay for the most part, but even then eventually it has to go. Even the chips and chocolates will expire. Over here, the club stores like Costco, Sam’s Club and BJ’s are very crowded and the merchandise turnover is fast. Just wondering. 🤔
So it's swings and roundabouts, depending on what you are buying. I assume price wise, the two are very similar, or am I wrong? I like the whisky selection, though.

@soupnazi8061 don't get kielbasa, it's full of paprika, greek and good with a taste of lemon. Italian are good, but I prefer the German brats. Just my opinion
Seems like the S&R in Bacolod doesn’t live up to its Manila counterparts. Presentation-wise, looks like they cheaped out on a lot of things. S&R in Alabang for example has great presentation of its products (looks wider inside compared to the one here in Bacolod) and has a great selection of imported goods. Landers in Bacolod however looks consistent to the one in Alabang and is in fact wider. I’d say Landers won here in BC. Still, S&R has the advantage of location as it is close to the dense populace near SM.
I will use s&r less than Landers, probably just go there for take out salad and to buy sausages. Landers is more comfortable and closer to home for me. Landers is more Soci
S&R and landers sells different products.S&R has a better wider selection of imported groceries than landers.The best new york cheese cake in bacolod is s&r.And what I like about landers is the free haircuts and you get a discount on your caltex gas.
Biggest complaint I have heard about Landers is from those without a vehicle. They complain because the trikes aren't allowed in Megaworld for Landers.
Let's be realistic! These shops aim for the upper middle class customers. Think customers with their own car or those that can afford taxi's. The ones that take a tricycle to shop are expected to go to PUREGOLD or SM supermarket at most. If you only want to spend PhP 10 or 15 for the ride, you surely aren't going to buy strawberries at PhP 2.000/kg. I don't buy them here in Belgium if the price for a crate of 4 kg is that high.
S&R has a great selection of wines because Mr. Luico Co ...the owner also owns The Keepers Holdings....while Landers is brought to Bacolod by Megaworld which owns Emperador Distillers..

They also owned Kuya J restaurant chain, Isla Sugbo Seafood City Buffet restaurant (Cebu & Taguig) as well as Majestic Restaurant (Cebu) chain, Cebu Grand Convention Center and a slew of businesses in Cebu. Megaworld is only inviting Landers to their property to attract buyers and clients to their township. Soon, they will also build another Landers Superstore in their township in Mactan, Cebu called Mactan Newtown.
Both are gonna be closed in the coming years, Commodities and pricing are not for the residents, only the food but groceries and stuff? tsk tsk tsk. landers alone people are gonna eat at their restaurant but end up at Lopues East for groceries for value of money for their budget. even the high end restaurants too, eventually a few visits but still go back to Bob, Chicken Inasal and cheap fast foods like Jolibee.

Never been to Costco, I went to a dollar shop near Hollywood boulevard once that had great deals on Chocolate
Its partly owned by the investors of Costco thats why its so similar, and the pizza is almost identical to Costco in the US

A lot of Landers stuff is close to best before dates anyway, that's why they buy it cheap

Prices go up and down all the time depending what's on sale, they both have websites and apps with updated prices
