18 yo me use to always drive up from Cape Cod,MA to Boston and beyond in my 1970's yellow VW Diesel Rabbit to see and usually hang out with The Throbs, The Vibes, NY Loose, Electric Angels, Skid Row, Warrant, LA Guns, Faster Pussycat, London Quireboys, Four Horsemen, Burning Tree, Black Crowes, Jayhawks,Wilco,Son Volt,etc........... Throbs drummer Ronnie was also in Sweet Pain along with Kelly from LA Guns. I am friends with and have also played bass with Johnny Vamp from Skin & Bones and The Vamps. Pete Pagan also played in The Throbs and Skin & Bones.. Don't even get me started on all the historic shows I was at or wanted to go to but I was too young to get in to ! (21+ !) 😢 Good times.
The more you share your history, the more I’m positive our paths crossed. When we would come to the city from Jersey we’d get off at 9th street on the Path, and walk over to w 8th. And hit all the rock shops. It’s only Rock N Roll and your old store. Next to 48th street, it was the coolest spot to walk and kill a day before a show or something. Would go broke buying records and tshirts.. love those times in the 90’s…
I've always enjoyed playing in various iterations of 13 Crowds. I can see someone like him wanting to continue to matter. He is a beloved rocker. Much like Elvis or any rock band since it influenced music. I love it.
Man these guys were awesome..my ex took the cd over thirty years ago and i havent heard them since. Cant understand why they didnt make it. Maybe a bit ahead of the trend.
I lived in Maryland,Oregon, and California during the '80's. We had no comprehension of how these mixed cultures all created sub cultures in the regions where I lived were very relative to my life experience.
This was a lot of fun! Basically the fourth video in the Mark Weiss lost band member picture! Nice to wrap it up Jason! John and Jenn
Love this interview!
Thank you Martha, you appreciate the cool stuff!
Thank you for this good interview, Jason. Never heard of the Throbs. Went back to look at a few videos and liked the music!

Very cool! Love exposing people to “new” “old” music they might have missed
Some of your best videos imo are the interviews with people I’ve never heard of. 👏
I appreciate that l, always happy to turn people in to new “old” music they might have missed

I think you’re right, maybe people weren’t ready and the label didn’t properly push
I remember Rip Magazine had a really great story on them back in the day. I bought the CD instantly after that.
Ronnie! 🤘
Ronnie's still the best dressed person in rock n' roll, thank you Jason.
That he is!
Yep, we have subtle variations of New York culture because we were very into New York metal and hardcore were like a huge influence on ous.
I bought my Throbs vinyl at revolver records on 8th street. Vinyl still sounds killer.
Nice, my old stomping grounds… we discuss revolver in this video
