    For anyone watch this video and thinking of building a computer, I would say go with the Intel CPU. I made a build using:
    AMD Athlon x4 750k - CPU
    MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 - Motherboard
    8gb (4x2) of Corsair Vengeance 1600 - RAM
    EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2gb - GPU
    1tb Western Digital Blue - HDD
    Thermaltake tr3 600w - Power Supply
    I made that almost one year ago. I was very happy with it at the time. Now, however, since games are getting more and more demanding, I upgraded my graphics card to an EVGA GTX 760 4gb SC. I saw a good amount of performance increase, but I noticed on games that required a good amount of CPU power, my CPU was starting to bottleneck my GPU. Bottlenecking is basically when your processor is running at 100% trying to keep up with your graphics card causing lower fps and a huge amount of strain on your processor. If you want to see if your CPU is bottlenecking now, open task manager and look at the cpu performance while running a laggy game. If you see it around 95% to 100%, it's bottlenecking. I'm trying to change processors from the AMD Athlon x4 750k to the Intel Core i5-4670k AND I have to change motherboards too. It has become a huge hassle, so if you are building your first gaming computer, go with the intel core i5. It's a lot better on in the long run if you plan on upgrading the graphics card.

    • @MrRobogeeka
      @MrRobogeeka 10 лет назад +2

      Well, watch dogs already requires a fx8320 for low, so thats a nope, you're trying to run and record games with a budget pc, thats not really going to work. you can run battlefield tho, don't think record at ultra but you could play it.

      @WantedPickle 9 лет назад +1

      norge696 I think ill go with both, a super clocked i7 3.0 5k, and a gtx 960. One thing i dont get is that why do low end processors have faster speed than the i7. The i7 im getting is 3.0 but on other builds theres a low end processor that has 3.7

    • @norge696
      @norge696 9 лет назад +1

      Wanted Pickle Clockspeed isn't everything. The chips are just higher binned. If you absolutely need the extra threads then get the E3-1231 v3, same exact performance as an i7, just doesn't have an onboard GPU and $50 cheaper.

Also, if you're planning on overclocking (which I assume you are, judging by the cooler), I suggest one of the new Intel Skylake processors. Specifically the "K" unlocked variant.

    The athlon x4 750k is worth buying only if you are going to get a low end GPU such as 260x or 7790. If you are going to get anything like 7870 or above then it's definitely worth getting a better CPU than x4 750k. Overall id say the i5 is only worth buying if you are an online gamer, but that's just me.
    Intel is generally starting to piss me off with their insane prices and frequent socket changes, i might own 1 AMD system and 1 intel system but i think my next build is going to have AMD if intel continues like this.
    And finally, if you guys need a cheap but reliable gaming CPU then the fx 6300 or the intel i3 are great choices for all the new games right now, and they both cost about 100 dollars, combined with a 270x you ll be able to play all the new games in good settings.

    • @JT141996
      @JT141996 10 лет назад

      true that, i bought the x4 750k and the r9 270x and now i have a cpu bottleneck, my cpu sucks, sometimes it chokes so badly, it drops to 26fps, but sometimes i get about 90 fps on ultra FHD, its quite weird

      @fgryuzaki 10 лет назад

      I currently have an athlon II 450 x3 3.7 ghz OCed
      Served me really well for the past two years.
      Out of impulse i bought a 7790 which was pretty stupid.
      Now im looking to upgrade to an i5 4670k or non k
      Then sell my 7790 and get a high end card
      Yes i hate when intel fanboys say that you'll have a better upgrade path with intel than AMD.
      But AMD is not doing really good at processor department as APUs are fucking stupid and inferior to the FX series when use with dedicated GPU.
      2012 was Sandy Bridge
      2013 was Ivy Bridge
      2014 Is Haswell
      2015? Broadwell not sure i dont wanna search
      2016 is Skylake??
      If you're going to buy an INtel processor get one of the best like i5 4670k haswell as it is equal to i7 4770k haswell and period i dont think we will be seeing consumer level i5's and i7's
      I heard there will be a true octa core Haswell but it's not for gaming i guess
      And it will be ridiculously Overpriced

    • @MrJigssaw1989
      @MrJigssaw1989 10 лет назад +2

      Fernan Gomez
      I have an Phenom X2 965 overclocked @3.9Ghz.... It is a 4year old quadcore and it still gives me (coupled with a R 7970) fantastic performance @1080p in everygame - it becomes bottleneck in a few games (CS:GO / LoL but I dont really care if I get 180fps vs 300 fps in counter strike ;) )
      By the way you should read something about an APUs - it is not simply a CPU with decent integrated GPU as you can think..... HSA is the future as every major chip manufacturer (except intel) is member of the hsafoundation.
      So give it year or two then software catches up and you get 12- compute core beast that is really efficient (amd is king at integer calculations, intel outdones their design in floating point calculation - but gpu cores can handle that a LOT better than any cpu).
      My next cpu upgrade is propably gonna be an APU ;)

      "Oh no Minecraft is such a heavy game, I get lag all the time!"
      Sure it's heavy if you compare the performance to the graphics, but it's still got a lot of blocks to load. Maybe 3 years ago, it was slow on many computers, but it's pretty old now and most computers can handle it at 30 fps.

    The Athlon is cheaper, but draws a lot more power under load than Intel, especially 4th gen. That translates to power bills as well as excess heat. That said, I have a soft spot for AMD and I don't wanna see an Intel monopoly.

    In all honesty, I am utterly torn.
    I have just done my latest build, and its the SkyLark, and so its an all new setup.
    My 2 previous builds are AMD 8350 ( 8x4Ghz @ 4.7Ghz ) and I7 970 Hex Core ( 12x3.2Ghz @ 4Ghz )
    In truth, I only bought the SkyLark purely on a show-off reason and no other. I have a gammy hand and I am utterly unable touse my left hand in any serious gaming capacity any more, and so most games are now out of my life, and this is killing me, but I play Snooker and Pool games, plus the WarHammer Dawn Of War games, and I have kept the Skylark on my ATI 7770 Vapour X Crossfire ssetup as they play all my games at highres absolutely spot on.
    I have a paif or GTX 740 cards that are pretty much going to waste and are not being used, but its simply because they dont play the games I play any better, but they are hotter, and each double the power, so it makes sense to me, to keep to the ATI cards... Hell it would make even more sense to only have one and not both. Crossfire does nothing for the games I play .
    The CPU too... I occasionally convert home videos from various sources of home camera, into DVD format for our club, and in truth, it does all the footage in about an hour whether I use the AMD or the I7 980 - there is not really all that much in it, but I tried the Skylake for a giggle, and it did it in 40 minutes... That was not at all anywhere near as good as I was hoping it would be.
    I am therefore thinking, that this SkyLark for me and my own needs, was a bit of a waste of money.
    I am glad I got it, please dont get me wrong, but I am not going to get any actual benefit at all for it over my AMD or even the old I7.
    Of course, many will disagree, but thats how I feel.

      EcKo_Freeze can't give you an answer because a good graphics card could mean anything from a GTX 960 or a GTX 980 Ti so we really need the details on what CPU you have and so on

    • @EpiiKDnB
      @EpiiKDnB 9 лет назад

      EcKo_Freeze you going to want to spend about the same amount on a cpu as you did on your gpu. just save a little longer and dont skimp on prices, you get what you pay for.

    • @EdgeOf1996
      @EdgeOf1996 9 лет назад +1

      MikeyC831 Games do not rely on everything. They USE everything, but the biggest factor is the GPU.
      If your computer has a 4 core processor (at least) and 8Gb of RAM (again at least), then you have the basic framework to play games.
      Then the GPU is what matter most. And that comes down to preference and circumstance.

    • @EdgeOf1996
      @EdgeOf1996 9 лет назад +1

      EcKo_Freeze Here is the basic framework the BARE MINIMUM CPU I would say you should use (if you are building first time) is an Athlon X4 850k. ($80ish in price). And 4GB of RAM. I would recommend getting an FX 6300 CPU and 8GB of RAM if you are going for cheap and good.
      But in all honesty, you you can't afford 8Gb of RAM a decent CPU and good GPU, then you need to put a little more money into it. You shouldn't skimp on anything.

      No. the fx 8320 gets outclassed a bit by the i5 4670k while the fx 8350 outclasses the i5. hell the fx 8350 is often compared to the "low end" i7s (they arent low end cpus but thats what ive heard ppl calling them)

      mrbatistabomb2 8320 and 8350 use the same chipset but the 8350 is just a little higher clocked version od 8320. and i can overclock the 8320 to perform like a 8350 or better. ( I use water cooling).

      @mrbatistabomb2 10 лет назад +1

      ff7soldierff7 they are on the same chip and stuff BUT the fx 8350 is the top of the line amd CPU. and i am not calculating overclockings, because if that was the case the fx 9590 would destroy every CPU in existence, since it needs watercooling and it is an already overclocked fx 8350. the 500 mhz on the fx 8350 really make a diffrence in performance

    It all depends on the application you'll be using the CPU for. Personally, I'm planning on building a gaming computer that will not only work well for the latest PC games, but also for console emulators such as Dolphin. Dolphin (and probably other emulators) relies heavily on the CPU and Intel CPUs have been shown to provide better performance vs comparable AMD CPUs. Given that I'll need a powerful Intel CPU for emulation, I'm planning on going with the i7 4790K along with a GTX 970 (which I can eventually upgrade with SLI) for decent PC and emulator gaming.

    So if you take like some cheap ass AMD cpu and combine it with GTX 970 or other high end GPU, you will be creating a bottleneck, your CPU can't keep up with the GPU.
    Even AMD FX series is pretty shitty, I had FX 8350 with GTX 970 and that gpu was bottlenecking my GPU pretty badly, it wasn't able to use the full capacity of the GPU.
    Therefore I sold that CPU and bought i5 4690k, soon as I started playing, I noticed a huge difference, it was like night and day.
    Those who don't believe that, are morons, it has been proven by multiple benchmarks.
    So go with intel if you want to buy a High end GPU.
    Pick a AMD cpu if you aren't going to pay much for your GPU, like if you're getting a low to mid-range gpu.
    Note for all haters, even though you might think that I'm a Intel fanboy and AMD hater.
    I don't hate AMD nor love intel, I only buy the hardware which is giving me the gaming performance that I'm looking for and I advice that you do that too.
    Don't always go with the "cheap" as you might get disappointed even if you see all of the benchmarks and other things, it might not be for you.
    Most of PC gamers want to game at least 1080p and with high to ultra settings, you can't pull that off with cheap amd cpu and low end gpu.
    So think before buying anything, it might sound as a good deal, but most likely it's not.

      "your CPU can't keep up with the GPU." This varies greatlly from game to game. I've seen 64 player game BF4 at 60-75 fps on an x4 860k without overclocking which I imagine it's gonna be sufficient unless your monitor isn't 60Hz.

      I tried different games and everything run pretty shitty, I knew that it wasn't using the full capacity of my gpu.
      I couldn't believe it, I tought that FX series would be more high end but no.

      Nah bro. The best cpu between 100 and 130 is any random i3 out of the 4000 Generation. It doesnt run slower and can be upgraded later. And the 860k already has higher single core performance.

    Lately i struggle with my video card which is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 2048MB DDR3 so i decided to buy a better one.
    I don't want to make a mistake buying the wrong and not compatible GPU, so if anyone can help me out with an advice, would be much appreciated.
    Specs are these :
    source : DEM-ATX-500W-PFC
    mother board : MSI A55-G41 PC Mate
    CPU : AMD Athlon(tm) X4 750K Quad Core Processor ( I overclocked it up to 4,02 GHz )
    RAM : 8 GB DDR3 @ 689 MHz
    monitor : Belnea ( 1680×1050@59Hz)
    My budget would be around 200 euro + -
    I will use it for gaming.
    Thank you in advance !

    I'm going with an i3-4160 paired with an EVGA 2GB GDDR5 GTX 750 Ti SC for my next budget build. The i3's got great single threaded performance compared with AMD's line up, which is important for the XBox 360 / PS3 generation of games I can currently get really cheap, where at most 2 cores are required for maximum performance, while the additional hyperthreading can take care of the boring general PC stuff that goes on in the background.
    The 750 Ti SC is one of those small but mighty (for it's bracket) jobs. With a much lower TDP than the equivalent AMD, the less demanding cooling solution required for it can also be correspondingly quieter than the AMD alternative. Also, it supports GPU programming and PhysX using CUDA, which is something I'd really like to get in to.
    My current system, which I've been using for a very, very long time, is based around a S939 Athlon 64 X2 4800+, MSI nForce3 DDR motherboard and a MSI 256MB DDR2 AGP(!?!) Radeon HD 2600 Pro, that likes Windows XP, but only works with graphics acceleration on Windows 7 by disabling one of the two cores of the Athlon. My budget is limited, so going for the i3, which is around 3x more powerful than the Athlon (on Windows XP) and the 750 Ti SC, which is at least 6x more powerful than my current GPU, with full support for Windows 7 and above, is an upgrade that's really badly needed right now.
    I'm also putting them on a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK motherboard for plenty of upgrading headroom later on. For example, an i7-4790K, that's more than twice as powerful as the i3-4160, paired with a future Pascal/Volta GPU that's at least 3x more powerful than the 750 Ti SC, having at least as much performance as a GTX 980, while also running with a much lower TDP than the 980 for quiet cooling, to be obtained once DirectX 12 hardware fully matures.

    CPU: AMD Athlon X4 760K
    GPU: Nvidia GTX 950 msi
    Motherboard: MSI A78M-E35
    RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport
    Hard Drive: 1TB Western Digital Black
    Power Supply: Corsair VS Series™ VS550 - 550 Watt Power Supply
    Case: Corsair SPEC-01
    Monitor: BenQ GL2250
    Keyboard: Corsair STRAFE
    Mouse: SteelSeries Rival
    MousePad: SteelSeries QCK+
    The maximum I'm willing to spend on a new setup is around 900€. What do you think? Should I replace some parts or nah?
    Is this a decent machine for streaming CS:GO on Twitch because that's what I'm planning to do in the future.

    Hi Austin. Currently I'm upgrading from an R7 250 gpu to a gtx 760 and am using a amd athlon X4 750. Will I still see a decent increase in performance or is my cpu too outdated? I'm only looking to get 1080p on medium to high settings with a decent fps on a single screen.

    Current build:
    AMD FX 6300 6 core - CPU
    EVGA 750 FTW - Graphics card
    Asus M4A79XTD EVO - Mobo
    2x8Gb Corsair Vengeance - RAM
    750 watt power supply, and a wifi card for LAN parties. May upgrade that Graphics card soon to a GTX 980.
    However with this setup, I can easily run ANY game in my steam library (with the exception of Evolve) at Ultra settings. Always hit around 60-80fps with FPS games, and 75-120fps with anything else.
    Highly impressed because I only spent $495, and it outperforms a $1200 gaming PC i bought last year.

    I have a question for you Austin, I just built a new PC (for only $350!!) but I am not getting good framerates in some games that i know should be better. I have a MSI GeForce GTX 760 (Twin Frozr) and i got a really cheap but good AMD Phenom II x4 840 (Quad-Core/3.2 GHZ) with 8GB RAM. Is there some sort of bottleneck in this build or is this really the max performance i can get from it?

    • @EndlessVoid98

      +JustAnotherRUclipsr The Phenom is the bottleneck. Yes it might be a quad core, but the architecture is old and pretty much lags behind the Athlons.

      Your probably right,in most cases the i5 will destroy the 8320 especially in games
      but the i5 lacks hyperthreading and lot's of threads. and the 8320 may be old but it overclocks.An overclockable i5 costs alot where i live like $300+ where the amd cost's like $170 so it was an easy decision,But i agree the intel is the better cpu in overall.

    I think that the biggest issue here is the lack of multi-threading in games. The Athlon has 2 cores and is hyperthreaded, while the i5 had 4 cores. I kind of wonder if using a higher-end GPU actually unlocked cores? It doesn't sound likly, but what if the system actually chose to not use extra cores because it detected that the GPU was the bottleneck anyway? I dunno, just a theory. An unlikely one, but not completely illogical, I think.

    If your CPU can execute the game, then that processor is ready for gaming, high or ultra settings depend exclusively of the graphic card. You can even play BF4 in Ultra with an APU (Kaveri) or with an Intel Pentium.
