One thing: printing with glossy photo printer will omit the usage of the black ink, because this is a 4-colour printer and the text black is not used when printing on glossy photo printer, because it will flake of the surface. The "black" is actually composite black: a mixture of CMY together to make something that is very "black". If you want true black (and therefore a deeper black and better contrast) choose a printer with at least 5 ink colours including photo black. There are some printers that even has a grey ink for better black and white prints without any colour casts like the ET-8500 printer.

The ink tank system appears to be much better than the cartridge system ruclips.net/user/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 and a lot cheaper to run. The machine was easy to set up. A small point but I thought they'd be a USB cable included to help with the set up but there was none. I've been using it now for a few weeks and it seems like a good product and superior to my previous printers which were all troublesome HP machines.
Print quality wise would you go for the 2850 3850 or 4850 or are they the same?
Cant say I had the same experience with the prints. I had Canon prints to compare it to. I used Canon Platinum gloss and semi gloss and both came out with a magenta cast.I switched off colour control then backed off the magenta using an Epson printer profile for Epson semi gloss paper for another Epson model because they don't have any stock ICC profiles for this printer. I printed it out using Qimage Ultra and that was as close as could to the original print from my Canon .I ordered some Epson semi gloss and when it arrives I will see if that improves matters.

Hello, when using photo paper, do you load the paper in the front tray? Or is there a rear tray where you can load thicker paper like cardstock.
Actually the front tray does a good job even with thick paper. There is no back tray on most of the 4000 models.
How can I adjust the colour settings? I don’t get that on my hp laptop with this printer whiles I do see the option with my ET2720
What about changing size of paper, how you load photo size into tray?
I want to buy this printer but I've seen a couple of reviews that describe that when running on their Mac and when they go to print, it typically does not wake up. They have to then cancel the print que, restart the printer, and then reprint. It then works. Takes like 5 minutes. Have you heard about this issue?? Thanks.
That sounds like an isolated incident, because I have not seen that myself. They are making these printers better each time.

I noticed that your double-sided print example had the back of the page oriented upside-down vs the front. I'm hoping that can be fixed with a setting somewhere?
Yes that can be adjusted.

What’s the max paper thickness for this printer? Does it print 300gsm? I’m deciding between this and the 3850. So many comments about the flimsy quality of the 3850 is pushing me towards this one. I don’t need fax honestly so that doesn’t matter to me. Any advice?
Hi, yes here are the specs, honestly the 4850 is not a big upgrade from the 3850. You only get fax and a touchscreen with the upgrade. Here are the paper specs for the 4850.

wont make any difference all these megatank printers are pretty similar I had a 3800 which I returned for the 4850 and they were exactly the same both pretty flimsy, you just have to be careful not to break anything. They charge you for the privilge of using megatanks as before they charged over the top for the inks so they have reversed their strategy.
That's the printer I was supposed to get the 3850, But they didn't have anymore so I got the Epson Eco Tank ET-4850.

CAN YOU PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON DUPLEX PRINTING!! IDK if something is just wrong with mine, it's only a month and half old but for some reason even though its set to 2 sided printing it won't work and EPSON has been zero help! I'm going crazy here trying to get this thing to print double sided. It's almost ended up on the street in pieces as I have 34 page projects I needed printed out and 2 sided and I just prints everything single sided! Please help!
If you have set the setting on your computer for 2 sided printing it should print 2 sided. Why don you try printing from a different device with the 2 sided printing on. Also try using the Epson app when printing.
Would you buy this or the 2850? Is saving $150 bucks worth it?
It depends, with the extra $150 you get an automatic document feeder and a touchscreen, along with some other upgrades. So yes I personally would spend more but if you dont need those upgrades then save the money.

I have this printer and I am a little underwhelmed I am wondering if there is something I am doing wrong settings wise, I just want bright vivid print outs e.g if I printed a cartoon character on photopaper.
You definitely need to use the right settings from the device you are printing from and the printer.

It will be better than the R2880!
R2880 is in an entirely different class and you know that .This is good for every day stuff but an R2880 is comparable to the Canon Pro 100 which I have owned .
So have you printed on vinyl and stickers and graphics but not on photo paper as for my business hi print a lot of stickers and dividers with pictures and graphics on it but not like actual photos and not with photo paper Do you know what I mean? I’d be using card stock as well.

What do you do when the ink goes through the paper and the paper is wet? How do you fix the issue?
A printhead cleaning and a changing of the maintenance box is required.
I have a printer , epson 4760 and the power and fax button are blinking out of no where,

That sounds strange I have never run into that.
If your printer works otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. I have an Epson where the power button also blinks on and off. This is normal behavior while it's on sleep mode.

I put the document on the scanner glass and I press copy but it will not print out I have to scan it to the computer then print it out How do I get it print what is on the glass without taking it to the computer
The printer may be defective the copy button should work.

Ive notice my designs when printed the color is not bold but more faded out.
Try tinkering with the photo settings on your computer.
yeh that happens, you need to use printing software like Qimage Ultra , turn off the printer control of the colour in the printer software and load an Epson profile in to Qimage Ultra and then make some adjustments and save the adjustments to recall the setting that best work for you.
I just purchased this nit and immediately noticed the same. I had been using HP Officejets and always had more intense colors with anything other than stock settings. I am totally underwhelmed so far.
They are good till the heads block up if you print regular it's ok but if it's left it will block up Also the printer as a end of service life filter when it's full you have to send it back for a new filter I had the et 4700 and was fine till it was left only buy this printer if you print regular.

They literally sell that filter for 10€ "probably something around 10 bucks in US" at official Epson page, you can replace it yourself, need just screwdriver to screw out one screw then take filter cover away and then old filter off and place new one!

I guess the best this can do is 1 or 2 full colour prints per min, not quite the 8 pages Epson claims, that must be for a really basic clip art and some text page.

Uhhhmmm..too bad you're not printing photo's using the Epson 8" x 10" photo paper, cause then you could tell me how do we load 8x10 paper in a tray that is clearly meant for 8 1/2" x 11"? Cause there is no tray edger in the tray that line up the paper. Are we supposed to use th top feeder? Would be helpful if Epson explained that...hmmmm
The paper tray is adjustable to lower sizes. there are blue tabs you should be able to adjust.

All my colors are coming out blueish and not true colors 😞
You might get better quality if you adjust the print settings.
I bought this printer n it does a hellofa job printing and scanning BUT THE DAM THING WONT CONNECT TO MY COMPUTERS PROGRAMS, OH YEA IT WILL INSTALL, BUT THATS ALL THE HELL WILL DO. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PRINT FROM WORD, EXCEL, PHOTOSHOP, EVEN NOTEPAD ITS A NO GO, THE SYSTEM DOESNT LOAD THE DRIVER OR THE DRIVER MIGRATES ALSO THE DRIVER IS A WINDRIVER FROM 2006. LOTS OF MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT WONT CONNECT TO THE COMPUTER. BASICLY IS JUNK.

Something wrong there mate mine prints fine from those programs .Are you printing with a cable or VIS wireless ? If wireless you need to select the Network copy of the printer not the usual vanilla flavour which will often be installed as well.

A 2851 has higher Resolution? For half the price ? ok I get the answer, it only has 3x56 nozzle per color... the 4850 has 4x128 nozzles
Yes the 38xx and 48xx has more nozzles = faster printing
