Awesome awesome work!!! My only feedback is with the lighting. Having the light source so directly behind your camera hurts the shot, since it flattens the appearance of whatever is facing the camera this way. Moving it a foot to the left would have helped by cutting down on a lot of the glare while accenting the angles of the model. The bright spots were also very blown out, which also hides detail and shape. I'm only humbly giving this feedback because the presentation could be just as awesome as the modeling work.
That is a super great and low effort way to mix up the paint, keep it in the glass pot and chuck into an ultra sonic cleaner bath! Not an idea I have ever seen used or talked about before (I don't paint models though) but one I would use for sure when using the metallic or super fine paints. The only thing I was a little ... not please with, was how far back your shots are. When you bring the pieces up to the camera though, that is great, maybe more of that an less long shots? Otherwise, I still watching, I want to see this super slick chrome GUNPLA (lol) at the end!
Ok, that clear blue on the chrome is super stupid sexy AF. Would you try that same clear blue on the gloss black, or a clear red or green the gloss black (or the chrome too?) I really like the effect man that layering of primer, black, gloss, then chrome and finally clear blue is the money maker. It gives so many ideas to my brain. I really have had my mind on hobby miniatures or model airbrushing for a long time. This just reinforces my thoughts. How cool!
I'm sorry if this is a repeat question but is it possible for you to detail the three liquids and ratios for the urethane mixture you used? Thanks in advance!
Quick question.. In these montages, I don't see you having fitting issues. Don't you modify joint parts for them not to scratch each other when assembling them? Hope you answer my question. Fan here!

Great painting!! But is the clear gloss necessary? Can I go for Grey surfacer->gloss black->chrome/star bright silver/gold to get the same shining&smooth result as yours? I try different way but still can't paint it as shining as yours
do you mean the urethane clear? No you dont need urethane clear but if you choose not to use it, you still need a traditional clear gloss after the clear color/metal color (and sometimes after the primer if you want that extra glossy pop). But i would still recommend the urethane clear like he did in the video. urethane clear coats imo are better (they look better, and last longer)
How's the durability? I want to mirror chrome point some Sentai kits, so I've been doing as much research as possible into best choices of paint to do so, but before I add this to my customs & paint apps, durability is the main concern since Sentai kits combine and come apart. Plus too many coats, and the parts start getting too snug. But there are some that'd look so beautiful or more toy accurate with the mirror chrome/mirror gold type finishes.

@@NORItv-painting, that's fair, but if you can paint a Nu Gundam. Might I suggest a gold and red to contrast this bad boy? Think it would look great, especially with these two next to each other. any microfibre cloth is perfect for basic cutting and polishing of surfaces. just be gentle. and use a polish/compound if you want (or if the surface is cloudy)
In order to spray chromium, a urethane cleaner must be sprayed in advance. Spraying even with a gloss black will make the surface thick, thus omitting the gloss black operation.
@@qwert54965 I just skipped the black work because I had to spray urethane on the production process. You have to spray urethane for chromium. The chromium sequence of the epidermis gets thicker and harder to assemble later parts. That's why I skipped the glazed black work.
I personally use an acrylic gloss black primer to prepare the surface. Metallic finish like this Gaia Notes Mirror Chrome's finish is reflected by the level of gloss finish beneath it. I don't have experience with urethane so I have no idea but compared to just a [primer+gloss black] or [gloss black primer] the urethane clear coat gives it an exceptionally smoother finish. It's not just the gloss that we need to keep in mind but also the quality of gloss. A gloss finish can be reflective but not particularly smooth. This is true especially for acrylic paints if applied a bit too deliberately. Solvent based paints, especially from gaianotes from my experience, have better smoothness i feel. Since he's going for a full on "perfectly smooth" gloss mirror chrome finish, maybe that's why the urethane clear was used. I personally just use a gloss black primer cause it saves me time and I can accept the level of imperfection imparted on the final finish most of the time.
