- Ride along with a US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet through the 800' carrier break to land onboard the USS Lincoln. (SIC) (DLAR). Need to keep scanning lineup! Enjoy
That carrier break straight over the top of aircraft being launched from the cat below you is some of the best footage I have ever seen. Fantastic stuff.
You really have to admire a pilot that can land on a postage stamp in the middle of an ocean!👍
No no...The HMAS Melbourne was a postage stamp, US carriers are more like a large package.
what you call a stamp lol. An airfield is a stamp compared to the nation it's based in....
That's a big postage stamp
@@anomalyp8584 Try finding it in the middle of the night with no city, road or airport lights for reference...
@@RS-pq5mo radar? IR? Vectoring?
Honking into the break while two guys are just coming off the cat in frame, epic capture!
WTF?! 😅
This is absolutely insane to me.
The amount of skill and training is astounding.
WOW!
Straight up guts
Wow that’s insane! The cockpit is remarkably small. A runway in the middle of the ocean -what a concept!!
Controlled crash
The clouds are beautiful, nice view. I loved it.
Amazing! You guys make it look so easy. I wish I could be like you. Love all those call signs and unique helmet designs.
Landing on Carriers (at night as well) is what separates the Navy & Marine Corps pilots from the rest. And as badass as the Thunder Birds are from the Air force - the "Blue Angels" are on another level. Shout out to an old (F 14 Squadron / VF - 142 " Ghost Riders") out of Oceana Naval Air Station Va. Bch. , Va. Spent a few years growing up around those who - yas.
Been there. Honking into the brake as two come off the cat. Solid smooth landing. Sweet!
It's good to see the skull & crossbones still flying ! ! I was in VF-84 between 87 - 91 as a mech when the F-14 was still flying ! ! Squids ! !
Nice landing! It was also very nice moment to see the cat1 and cat3 launches during the break.
Cat 2 and 3. Cat 1 has aircraft parked on it.
Ok. I love all about carriers, aircraftfigthers and pilots.
Thank you once again Mr. Alex Bowman.
Amazing skill. My mentor in soaring was an ex carrier fighter pilot. Amazing guy. The best!!
Awaiting eagerly this video.
A really good pilot coming downwind toward the ship, will know exactly where his cab will end up once he starts that turn based on the wind speed and direction. Other pilots will work it out as they descend; others will work it out much lower down the approach. I’ve worked with all manner of pilot and all are exceptional.
Gigantic meaty clackers !
I don’t know how these guys fly with those huge nuts. Much respect, over.
Saw your call sign in the thumbnail and realized I’ve been watching the guy who did IGN reacts to Top Gun Maverick.
My favorite squadron, The Jolly Rogers!
Ok-3 ! Nice calm seas
🇺🇸💯❤️ thank you for your service and being the best in the world ‼️
Most fun you can have with your pants on ... pretty good break at/near the bow.
The F18 is the plane the Chair Force didn't want. Cracks me up.
The Air Force chose the F-16 over the F-17. The F-18 is based on the F-17 but in the end is a completely different airplane.
Hi! Please, what's the meaning of hitting the helmet and the cockpit glass?
Thank you so much. Greetings from Spain! :)
Maverick brought me here. ✌🏼🌍
Fascinating to see Cat 3 or 4 being used with aircraft in the break. Cant leave a lot of time for delay on those cats. Did that first aircraft launch from Cat 3/4 or Cat 2?
Wow.. Just wow.
God these videos are epic. A great insight. Would you be able to make one of the entire recovery?
I am not too much at home with the super hornet but what would you be doing at the UFC that late. Is that for PLM?
I can probably do that. What part of the recovery would like to see?
Anytime you execute a shit hot or break near the boat it is much easier (and safer in my opinion) to fly the approach turn with manual throttles because you have to bleed so much energy. Once at a decent position and energy state I clicked into auto throttles and selected PLM on the UFC. In a normal carrier pattern I would be slowed down soon enough to not have to select PLM this late in the approach! Nice catch!
@@AlexBowman_Ventures Well, unfortunately not many videos show the mechanics from coming into the stack, hawking the deck to then leave the stack, although yours shows an amazing part of it. I as just a boring airline pilot have done a lot of research on how cyclic ops works whilst being off during COVID and have had a lot of help from your (ex) colleagues. Most of the info given was related to the F/A-18C and I am not aware of how much procedures have changed.
I made a video of it myself ruclips.net/video/g60P1fzhcdY/видео.html which is probably just a laugh for you, but if you ever could and would be willing to make another video, then it would be amazing to see a video of a full case 1, from just before going BTN 16 when inbound to the boat.
On a case III Have you ever flown Mode 1 or 1A Btw? Would be keen to hear about how often guys use it, or wether they rather stick with mode2.
Cool stuff man ! Always wanted to for one of those bad boys , but life turned out differently cuz of the greediness of some of my siblings !
top gun maverick brought me here
Good morning boss I saw it on Instagram! good week .
4 wire?
Very good Alex
I never flew the F-18, but I did love the 14. It was my girl
Coffee for everyone! On the house!
Hoping other people caught his call sign... "Tinder"
Goes to show call signs for fighter pilots aren't cool codenames, they are embarrassing nicknames that always have a humiliating story behind them LOL
Friend of mine got a call sign he liked, so he faked that he didn't like it long enough to make it stick 🤣
I like C.W. Lemoine call sign "Mover" because he accidentally peppered some cattle with his F-16 thinking they were insurgents. "Mooover" 😂
0:07 That's to tell everyone watching this video: "Watch, I'm going to blow your mind guys!" ;)
Very nice
Good job Tinder
Jose Jiminez, on approach...
Very Cool
Jollyrogers?
Lol “Tinder” I’d love to hear the story behind that callsign
My mans callsign is Tinder 😂
Wish I could be one of you. Im a smoker and skinny and not fit. Also my country does not own any Hornets and not even a carrier. Maybe In my next life Iam blessed.
Respect👍
No crash = good landing
His call sign is tinder?
Call the ball...
Nice 👍
so how'd you get the name tinder?
Dumb but serious question... why do you do a carrier break? Why not begin a straighter approach from further out? Do you always do one... even at night or in bad weather?
Carrier is more tactical, expedient, and efficient. It’s all about efficiency. At night and in bad wx we do straight ins.
@@AlexBowman_Ventures Thanks, Alex.
@@AlexBowman_Ventures vfa 14 video
are you with VF 84? The jolly rogers?
And just think.....he gets paid doing that fun crap!! Probably an O-3 or O-4 pay with maybe 5 to 7 years of active service under his belt or about $6200 to $6800 plus flight & sea pay
Has the pattern changed? Looks deeper than 3/4 mile.
Really just wanna know why your call sign is “Tinder”
Mr. Bowman, i've landed the FA18c over 100 times successfully in DCS World. What are my chances on a real FA18? Thank you
Bad ass!
Call sign 🔥😎
Why he hit himself on the head? I thought he was punishing himself for miss landing 😄
Fear the Bones!
Pilot kafasına niye vurdu ve kabın camına vurdu sonradan ( tam üzeride geçemez su üstü pist alanı üzeride geçmiyor) çünkü bazı gök gürültüsün sevmez . Çünkü çanak) Deniz doğan....
What’s the landing speed?
Fly NAVY….
We’ll done.
Looked like a late grab, what's tinder about
Shit hot break. nice...
We got dental hygienists making this type of money. Just an observation, from the deck.
at 0:05....what is that signal you give to your wingman????
I believe that is the "kiss off" signal indicating he is initiating his break, which should start the countdown to the next plane's break, and so on.
I can do everything in a fighter jet in vr, rolls and 360 and all kinds of crazy shit. But I can't land. Lol the vertigo is crazy in vr but you get used to it. But in real life fuck....
(SIC) Settle in close? (DLAR)?? No idea.
() = little. So…little settle in close little drift left at the ramp
@@AlexBowman_Ventures Thanks, i should have just asked my LSO mates haha.
What the trap again....DLAR measured in milimeters.
I have one question. At what speed do you land and break ?
9
Very cool but there is some editing magic going on here. He breaks just over the bow yet the downwind leg shows him way out in front of the carrier. Then he is way long and outside of the groove and then magically on the deck. Still very cool, but not a single break and landing. Just my opinion.
3 wire!
Free advertising for Tinder ;-)
İyi inniş yapamadı. Çünkü kolit lazeri atı çizgi birsantim topla sert inniş gelir. DAHA ilerisi su yatağı. Pilot doğrusun yapıt. Başka çaresi yok.
👍
These videos are habit forming.
so now in the interest of sick curiosity, we need to see your landing grades from the LSO, looked like an OK3 to me
Exactly…
A big thank you to the US Military 🪖
The world would be a very different place without you
God bless the US 🇺🇸
The world would indeed be a different place. Given the US has started more wars since 1950 than all other nations combined, there would be ~2.5 million more people alive today if the US had kept to itself like it pretends it does.
It ceases to amaze me to witness these epic landings :)
Never ceases?
Wacky Packy.
Yeah, me too. It's been done a million times. 😁
“ Tinder” is an epic call sign… what would be hilarious is if your wingman was “Grindr” or however you spell it.
You boys seen a aircraft carrier around here?
So proud to be an American. A big thank you to the service men & women to bravely serve our country! 🇺🇸
I am more curious as to why his call sign is "Tinder".... Could be worse and it could be "Grinder"
That call sign though 😂
I wonder what you did to get the name "Tinder"...
Retired CAF pilot here. Nice landing even if you did come in too low.
Maybe why there was a cut?
Was that a third or fourth wire snag?
Alex... VERY cool to see that in daytime, calm seas anyways, the prop churn of the carrier gives you a sort of "white water" centerline for final to line up on, crab, follow in for the trap. Fly safe! :)
Oh come on... do it at night... in a storm...with one eye closed.
“Top gun; maverick”, might have been more authentic if it had been “Topgun ;tinder “
If the original TopGun was made today it would have been TopGun:Grinder.
Wow! Jolly Roger!
How long does it take to land a 4-ship in IMC? Do the other three guys hold while lead shoots the approach? I've always wondered about that. It seems obvious that you guys basically use PAR from the IP in-bound, but how close in do they vector you? I guess I'm wondering what sort of minimums you guys have in those things?
IMC is a Case III recovery. We hold in a stack ~20mi away from the ship and commence approaches with 1min separation. The 4-ship detaches to 4 singles in the stack with each aircraft at their own hard altitude starting at 6k' and individual commencement times.
These frontal shots dude 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
Jolly Rogers??
Fly Navy.
Just subscribed. That would be an amazing job, how can you in all honesty accept a paycheck with a straight face!!!! I'd pay to do that just once!!! Keep it real!
WOW!!!!!! How cool is THAT!!!!!!!
The best
I got to do a landing on a carrier. It was in a C2 I think. We were faced backwards, so it wasn't much worse than a rollercoaster hitting the end of it's run. Fighter jets look way more violent.
