    Nice review & explanation.
I like the 7303. It's an excellent combination tool. The 6" pad helps when you're trying to reduce a larger, somewhat rougher surface. 5" pad is great for more careful, smoothing sanding. Of course, planes, planer, scrapers, etc. are great ways to start surface prep with, often leaving little sanding to do afterward.

Pruettn, what Mirka Backup Pad Saver lines up with the six holes on the MAX XT 5'' and 6''? Thank you!

I am not sure about Mirka. I use the Kingdom abrasives pad protector from Amazon.

On the R7303 have you noticed any out of balance issues with and without the pad saver??

No I have not. The pad saver is thin enough that it shouldn’t cause any issues.

Thanks for your speedy reply. The reason I asked you, a Mirka user claims that there is with Mirka sanders. I'll test my tomorrow and see if there's any vibration without the pad saver. By the way, I bought the R7303 and I love it. Saved me a whole bunch of money!
