That was very entertaining, can't wait to see the car again! Out of curiosity, have you matched all the VIN numbers from the various locations on the car? I assume there are areas in the car where the VIN has been stamped that should match the VIN plate behind the windshield.
Surely then 6thGear would be able to explain why the clips holding the engine wiring to the shell have been sprayed to match the bodywork? No offence, but you seem to be trying to convince yourself, more than anyone else, that the car is kosher. As for “no-one would repair a badly rolled Lambo”, that’s a tad on the naive side, that’s *exactly* the sort of thing that goes on, all the time. The only thing that will really confirm the veracity of the car is whether all 3 VIN are in place and there’s no signs of them being tampered with....
My thoughts exactly. Those cable clips would be fitted after the body was painted and would never have been blue from the factory. The red paint under the bracket looks to be gloss, not matt as you would expect an undercoat/primer to be. No one, never mind Lamborghini would use gloss paint as an undercoat. I notice the rear bulkhead in front of the engine behind the aluminium heat shield looks like it is red too. Why would that be? In addition, the red on the front chassis is also suspect. If the calipers were sprayed in situ, surely there would be overspray and not individual runs? Also at 13.20 you can see the chassis topcoat at the front drive shaft has been worn away with road grime, spray etc and it shows the primer underneath as grey/beige as you would expect. Could the car have had a heavy rear end shunt early in its life that was not claimed on the insurance and therefore not showing on the check you did? The bodyshop should be able to explain why things things are the way they are. If it was me I'd be lifting carpets, boot liners wheel splash guards etc and lightly scratching the top coat of paint to see what the colour is underneath. I'll wager grey/beige at the front and red at the rear. Why that might be is anybody's guess but you have to ask yourself why did the dealer take such a multi £1000 hit when selling this car to you? Is it possible he discovered something that made him want to get rid at any cost?
The dealer is a stand up guy, and was vouched for by people I know. When the car gets painted we will have it investigated to find out the truth to this mad mystery

I wonder if possibly it was resprayed red and then at some point a later owner wanted the original factory colour so had it painted a again back to standard colour
Maybe it’s red underneath when the dodgey shops where taking the engine out and took some paint of and covered it up in the only paint they had which was red maybe
The red paint (assuming it's not red oxide primer) is the killer here. This could well have been shunted & reshelled/significantly repaired, maybe even sent abroad to eastern Europe & repaired using (maybe unknown) stolen parts/donor car. Insurance records/car check are near useless & 6th gear owning it doesn't count for much IMO, unless there is good independent evidence that this car was consistently part of their experience fleet for all those years?
That red looks like red oxide but that wouldn’t make any sense on aluminium. By chance is it near any welds at all as that may be a path to investigate? Still, got a good few vids out of it so far and hopefully plenty yet to come!

Did blue ones come with the option of red callipers from the factory? Still possible they crunched the original blue car, but transferred all the parts to a red shell and swapped the VIN plate. I assume they must have multiple stamps across the chassis though?
I definitely think it’s factory paint as you said the blue is everywhere and that would only be done at Lamborghini. Have you looked at the body colour inside like behind the dash or glovebox. If it’s blue then it’s factory. Unlike aftermarket spray shops would paint inside the car
The car does look to of had a lot of donor parts off other cars Online history is great if any incidents went through insurance , any repair work just done you cannot trace , but as you can see there has been a lot of transfer that is not standard, Legitimate all wishbone transfer as you noticed from dealer would be very costly, make your own mind up what might be the history
Not sure if 100% reliable but most painted parts made by manufacturers such as VW etc not only have a part number on but also have date and paint code either as part of part no or separate. If take off a painted part such as wing or spoiler this should show that number. Would be interesting if part number has same year as car and what colour code is on. The red you show in pictures does not look like an undercoat more top coat painted over. Maybe painted parts of car have been replaced and then painted blue?
I reckon it was supposed to be red but was changed to blue from factory last minute as you say.. You say you're unsure if they'd do that, however it is still a VW after all..
It's had a colourful life for sure (excuse the pun). Whilst you might dismiss the lengths people would go to (or where you think they would stop) when rescuing a damaged car of value, you'd be amazed at how far some will go. Possibly hence red paint in strange places. I do hope you get right to the bottom of it all. In the 90's I witnessed some very creative repair shops, you would need DNA to work out what the car was.....and yet several months later it would be a complete car again and up for sale.

Have you scratched below the red to see a beige primer?
This is the theory I have. When it goes to my bodyshop I will have half the car resprayed so we will then find out how much red there really is
Happy new haircut 😎.
Aren’t the ball joints and bushings a standard VaG part number?!?! R8 parts are fairly readily available
excellent video, hearing these stories is what I love most about RUclips....
Happened to a mate of mine, he left his car in to get fixed, told the garage he was going away for a month. He came back to collect and they had his car sitting in the showroom with a big sold sign on it. They had taken his V5 out of the glovebox and forged his signature. They claimed they had sold it to claim what he owed them even though he told them he was going away for a month. Police didn't seem interested and said it was a civil matter.
So what happened then
Wait... you've got to replace the suspension arms when the ball-joints go? That's INSANE!
Also true on Skodas like my Octavia. Might be a VAG thing.
Two thousand pounds for control arm bushings and ball joints. You have to R&R the arms, plus ship them to Slovenia and back. Totally reasonable.
Does it drive straight let's hope the chassis is not twisted does it have strange tyre wear
AS interesting as this video was JayEmm...don't feel the need to answer to any haters! However, if you're ever heading to South Wales and feel like doing the A4069 (2miles from my house, The "black mountain pass") ... the famous Top gear filming road, please let me know, would be please to meet up with you and meet you in person. ATB! Over the years I have bumped into a Tiff Nedell, VBH and Johnny Smith there, and would be great to see you there at some point! Bring the S2k!
Keep on trucking fella! And if LMM was with you, that'd also be great!
Does this CarVertical site also work with cars delivered in the United States?
I wonder if possibly it was resprayed red and then at some point a later owner wanted the original factory colour so had it painted a again back to standard colour
Stolen?! No? Phew! Glad that you're getting it back soon. 👍
What’s the actual colour shade name underneath then image search that with gallardo and it may come up
Carvertical appear to be working with a number of automotive RUclipsrs at the moment.
It's always the way with these companies- the funny thing is I tend to have no idea until after I have shot my piece
Maybe it’s red underneath when the dodgey shops where taking the engine out and took some paint of and covered it up in the only paint they had which was red maybe
Have you broken through the red paint Jay?
The red paint (assuming it's not red oxide primer) is the killer here. This could well have been shunted & reshelled/significantly repaired, maybe even sent abroad to eastern Europe & repaired using (maybe unknown) stolen parts/donor car. Insurance records/car check are near useless & 6th gear owning it doesn't count for much IMO, unless there is good independent evidence that this car was consistently part of their experience fleet for all those years?
Newish subscriber here..Brilliant content mate, thank you.
Very kind, thankyou
The refurbed arms look great. I hope they used good components. I agree on the wheels, the original ones will be better.
China's finest 😆
I prefer the ones it had woth the recessed center
This Lamborghini has given him a nervous twitch !!!
That red looks like red oxide but that wouldn’t make any sense on aluminium. By chance is it near any welds at all as that may be a path to investigate?
Still, got a good few vids out of it so far and hopefully plenty yet to come!
The murci you mention with 250k miles etc is the owner the same guy that owns 6th gear experience?
It was the owner of evo magazine in the UK. It was bright orange. You'll probably find online
Simon George was the guy's name. Harry Metcalfe had evo
@@JayEmmOnCars he also.had a 458 with over a 100k on it aswell I think. I remember when he first got the murcie , I seen him on the m62 stuck in a huge traffic jam. Back.then it was like seeing a spaceship.
@@JayEmmOnCars so.is Simon George the guy heading 6th gear? I wonder what happened to the 458? And the murcie story would make a great video, it had 270k on it back in 2017. I think the idea was have the highest mile murcie ever and maybe get some acknowledgement from St.agata.
That product placement was as smooth as Mr Ed Bolian himself...
Haircut 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is a very good tire! But... whether they have Lamborghini approvals ???
Are adjustable aftermarket arms available with spherical bearings?
Wicked! Great update. 😎👍🏻
I recognise that colour. This is a replica build around my old Ford Fiero ;)
The car does look to of had a lot of donor parts off other cars
Online history is great if any incidents went through insurance , any repair work just done you cannot trace , but as you can see there has been a lot of transfer that is not standard,
Legitimate all wishbone transfer as you noticed from dealer would be very costly, make your own mind up what might be the history
My theory is also that this car was originally painted red at the factory, then repainted blue for a special order.
