I was late to the Low crowd. I will never forget hearing this song for the first time. Live in Detroit, early 2022. I'm so fortunate to have seen Mimi perform this - thank you for this beautiful music
I heard the news of her passing today also, & the description of the band's style in the article intrigued me enough to come check them out. I am impressed by their sound, and looking forward to learning more about them. Rest easy, Mimi. 💕
was recently at a Beak show where Geoff Barrow called on the crowd to keep Mimi in our thoughts in september, and then they did a Low cover. i didnt know Mimi was ill. gutted. what a loss. my deepest condolences.
I got to tell you I'm a music lover. I have a very eclectic palette. I have always been on top of new music and new artists so it's an absolute wonder why this great band fell under my radar for so long. Now I have the pleasure of listening to them often. RIP Mimi
Song is in the soundtrack of the movie "Killshot" with Diane Lane, Thomas Jane, and Mickey Rourke. Movie was ok, better than most these days. But this song reached out from the film and grabbed me. I had to find it. Thank God for the internet. Every so often it calls me back.
I really like that movie. It was a flop, but entertaining. That's what brought me here also. Joseph Gordon Levitt was also in it. Him and Rourke were pretty good.
The movie's under-directed for the kind of pulp thriller it fundamentally is, but the use of the song to introduce us to its characters (at odds with themselves, before they pair off to be at odds with each other) makes the song feel like it was written for the movie. Having come to the song (via the movie) only yesterday it's taken up residence in my head, and makes me want to go deeper on this band. Was crushed to read that Mimi had left us, and sympathize with those she left behind.
I first heard "Secret Name" at an incredibly debauched house party and I just sat, entranced , guarding the stereo as time stood still whilst there was chaos around me.
Many years ago I listened this song in a movie, that i've already forgotten. I searched in youtube and found some more. And i came back from time to time, when my heart suffered and life went wrong. It always spended my a kind of comfort, to listen songs by LOW. Thank you for this. This is the meaning of real art. Thank you!
I watched this base player loose his shit in Seattle ., Epic band though.,Saw them in big and small venues. They even personally took ticket money in Olympia. Rest in peace Mimi. ❤

I wish this version was on spotify, the version on there has much heavier bass and less accosutic focus. Still amazing, but this version is my favorite
Yes. To think a guy who was already famous in 1969 stayed connected to new music enough to know what writing mattered...beyond his own... is really something. And his version is so much more savage.
This is some other version of the song. For some reason, you can't hear Mimi singing along! The clip is exactly the same. The lips move, but the voice is not heard.
@@anonandake749 don't know the origin, just an old expression that says "getting the monkey off your back" referring to defeating addiction. There's another reference of this on weak and powerless by A perfect circle, which deals with similar subjects
Rest easy, Mimi. Thank you for your art...we'll miss you. 😢
The news hits hard
So sad 😞 such an amazing underrated band. Rest in Peace Mimi xx
Mimi is alive. So is everyone since Alice. She says memejo

RIP Mimi...one of the most important musicians/voices of the last 30 years. I hope she knew how much she meant to us.
How was she one of the most important
This is the first Low song I ever heard. Didn't realise how much I would end up loving this band. And now my heart is broken.
I heard the news of her passing today also, & the description of the band's style in the article intrigued me enough to come check them out.

I remember watching this videoclip, still in my head this song. One of my all time favourite.
Her voice was better for a different universe. 🥺💖 Rip Mimi Parker
I didn’t know. My fiancé also died but that was 3 months ago. I’ll add her to my day of the dead altar next year 😢
@@ashleypaul6326 How many people are there in the altar?
I never heard of Low until now. Listening to this song, I wish I had heard this music before Mimi death. RIP
Thanks, Mimi for all you've given us. You rest now, girl...
RIP Mimi 🙏for her and her family love your music thank you so much.
I love that underlying harmony. It's unusual
Those vocal harmonies!!
Still stoked on this video, 15 years later. Thank you, Low!
I've been looking for this video forever!! Couldn't remember the band. I love this song 💙

The movie is Killshot
Yes, my heart is breaking.
Been a fan of low for 13 years
Phenomenal song. Used to yell along to the chorus at the end still do, honestly.
Love you

Zak Sally lost it? I know he left the band after The Great Destroyer. Must have been some big time band turmoil?
I saw them on The Great Destroyer tour. It was spectacular.
Ones & sixes tour for me
Lyrics:
Oh my my
Little white lie
I swear I'm gonna make it right
This time
It's like a radio
Turning way down low
Telling me things I do not know
I know
Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Now who's to blame
We used to be the same
Now you won't let me speak your name
What a shame
It's a suicide
Shut up and drive
We're never gonna make the light
But it's alright
'cause tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Oh, tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Thank you ♥️
Flawless. You guys are amazing.
Thank you so much!!
You guys NEVER disappoint! I absolutely love this song! Low is timeless!
So sad to hear of Mimis passing from this earthly realm. May she continue making music wherever this new adventure takes her..
How does it feel to know led zeppelin robert plant covered this song
Rest in peace Mimi 🤍
beautiful....incredible....exquisite
What an awesome band.
I love your songs so much!! Why are your songs unknown? It's so frustrating for a talented group like this I'm not known
I wish this version was on spotify, the version on there has much heavier bass and less accosutic focus. Still amazing, but this version is my favorite
2005 holy flip! Timeless!
This is another brilliant song from a wonderful band
Love some Low
Robert Plant did a recording of it...Great as well...
listen to Robert Plants cover wow but he only does great tunes and this is one of 2 he's done of Low
Wow~ Just Wow~
This is the best that came from watching Kill shot
This song hits hard and good. Thank you 🙏🏼
In the beginning you can read „Stereo“ than follows a mono song 😳
I was wondering what was wrong with it, that phat synth is missing because the video its only the left channel!
I'm not too fond of this record, but I've always loved this song. They definitely got my hopes up by making this the first track though...
RIP Mimi 🖤
brilliant song !
Thanks Low 👍🏻 It's a ⚡ burst 💥 this song!
Robert Plant brought me here. Man has exquisite taste in music.

Эта песня без сомнения сильная вещь, но написсать на пальцы ног самое сильное переживание из всего альбома

Poor monkey 🙈 😢❤

Is it refferred to the year of the monkey or what? Can you tell more about this song inspiration (both lyric and video), pleeeease?!
I always assumed it has to do with dependency
@@isaiasguilarte indeed? Is the monkey a metaphor of addiction? Any in particular, then?
