This is the second home in which ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).

Can someone please explain to me how a doorbell button's light can be *powered* (like the one shown above) when there is only a hot wire (no neutral) feeding into and out of it? I know it works, but can't wrap my head around why. TIA

Yes, exactly. I found lots of complicated diagrams before finding this. Got my old doorbell re-installed and working with my new Ring doorbell with a good visual from this.

My chime plays a tune but as soon as the button is released the tune stops. How can you allow the tune to finish without holding the button down? Thanks

I have four wires, two white, two red coming from the wall. One of each is live/hot, the whites are twisted together and capped-off, and the reds are on "trans" (live/hot), and "front", and I only have a front doorbell. I've installed a doorbell camera and a 24V/40VA transformer, but now the chime inside does not ring. I'm wondering if the chime is not getting enough power because of the draw from the new camera/bell which requires 24V, and may be hogging all the current.
Question: if I attach the live/hot white wire (which I assume is for a rear doorbell(?) ) along with the live/hot red wire to the "trans" screw will that provide more power to the chime?

You move the "rear" wire to the "front" screw. If you have two doorbells, the rear dings, the front ding-dongs. If you only have the front bell, the wires should be on "front" and "trans" only.

I have 2 door bell buttons (1 front, 1 rear and 2 chimes) in the front door bell chime box are 4 red and 4 white wires and 1 Green attached to the Rear screw. The rear chime terminal box has 3 wires, 1 Red attached to Trans, 1 Green attached to Rear & 1 White attached to Front. How do I wire the wires in the front chime box?

What gauge blue wire are you using?
Doorbell wire I have purchased is white and red together.
Do I separate the white and red and wire them like you have with using your blue wire?

I purchased an Utilitech transformer (#0063548) that has three voltage settings (8V, 16V, & 24V) to replace a Nutone C905 transformer with one voltage setting (16V) for my doorbell. No matter what setting I put them on, both transformers only produce just over 4 volts when they are tested with my volt meter. I'm assuming something is screwy with the power source leading to the receptacle. Also, there's another wire leading out of the receptacle, but I have no idea what it leads too. Can you give me some advice on what possibly could be the reason why my transformers are not producing the correct voltage??? Supposedly, per the electrician who wired my townhouse, 120 volts is coming off the voltage source leading to the receptacle. He wants to charge me $120 to replace the transformer plus the cost of a new transformer. It sounds like the electrician has a real good extra moneymaking scheme going on here, especially with people who are replacing low voltage devices that require a little more voltage that the original device.

If you making new wiring this video is very helpful, but if you going to change old unit, you will see four wires out from the wall and when you connect them to Unitech unit it start making continuous sound zzzzzzz... If push button, unit makes right sound and then again - zzzzzzzz
