I've thought of an alternate interpretation of the Backrooms before that I call "the universe between the universes". Basically, if you manage to clip out of the Backrooms, you're definitely not going to end up back in your home universe. If you're lucky, you'll find yourself in a universe that is almost entirely similar to the one you came from, but most likely you're going to end up somewhere you either recognize or don't. And yes, this includes fictional universes.
