Johnny Herbert on why he’s no longer on Sky Sports F1

  • Hi all. A quick update on why Johnny Herbert isn’t at Sky Sports anymore (we were always told it was his decision, but clearly not!) and what he’s up to now!
Sorry if you don’t know who Johnny Herbert is, but as presenters go, he was the most Impartial presenter on Sky Sports, but that didn’t stop them when it came to getting rid of him. Big mistake I think!

Pretty much describes the F1/FIA power and principality and didnt stop them royally screwing Hamilton, in true audacious, perverse, corrupt and totally unprecedented style though, such as you'll never find equal in sporting history, but this is the kind of thing these types have always done, nothing new all said and done, an inconvenient truth, but truth all the same. And btw, do not kid yourself or those conveniently in agreement that Johnny was sacked for that reason - total BS and you know it but it suits your very questionable deep rooted 'spirit' we'll call it, to kid yourself so, cause that's all you are doing, along with those like you. Johnny is a man of truth and integrity and became surplus to requirements because he spoke the truth and made it clear that the events of Abu Dhabi 2021 were wrong, to put it mildly which they absolutely were. This for those who have skin in the game, compliant to the agenda of their business associates, the pay masters caused disgruntlement and discomfort, period. Johnny is a good man and can look himself in the mirror, more than can be said for all too many, sadly. Thankfully there are a lot of other good people like him out here, who dont turn a blind eye, go along with the cover-over / smoke screen narrative, accept wrong as right or are easily deceived - you can fool some people some of the time, but you cant fool all the people all the time ............

Similar to what’s happened with some of the football and Rugby presenters, there seams to be a move to introduce a more diverse group of presenters as opposed to just featuring previous F1 drivers or technical experts. My wife and I have followed Johnny for 40 odd years and we will continue to do so.

We all know why he was sacked. A certain Team and Driver are behind it. Shame on Sky for caving in to their demands. Now other Sky F1 pundits have effectively been gagged, and are afraid to say anything that might upset certain people with very fragile egos. Johnny spoke some truth, and paid the price unfortunately.

FIA have always tried to manage things down but couldn't do that with TV.

Interesting, I personally believe they were the most biased ones at SkyF1 apart from maybe Ted. Herbert being a Lewis fanboy and Di Resta being a Max fanboy. It's a shame they both had to go though as even though they were obviously biased, they balanced each other out and are both very likeable. Especially in the light of Ted still being there who is constantly stirring the pot and riling up fanbases against each other.

Is sad when the likes of Sky see themselves as bigger and of course "right" regardless of the facts, Di Restas days were numbered when he dared to disagree with Rosberg on air, Rosberg had always had the huge advantage in F1 with his dad being a former world champion, Hamilton & Sky always made a fuss over Anthony Hamilton working two jobs to fund Hamiltons racing career, what they didn't say is that he bought second premises to expand the business, not quite the same thing really, it doesn't take away from Hamilton being very talented, but it wasn't the rags to riches story Sky push.
Di Resta and Herbert are much missed and as much as I like Chandhok he's not a patch on the other two, he just doesn't have the F1 race experience, I think Sky are having to compete with Liberty Media, that 99 year contract is something that should never have happened, it's good that the original LM people have been moved on, but all have been replaced with ex Ferrari people, not a good move by anyone.
