This may sound crazy, but of all your videos I have watched, and I've watched a LOT of them, this was by far the most helpful. I've read about packing boxes for Amazon for weeks, but to actually see you do it has alleviated all of my, surely, self-created fears. Thanks so much!
Yes, Thanks, That was all the "push" I really needed to continue. I think all a newbie needs is the instrucitons " Now Go to "Seller Central" and scroll over "Inventory" tab in the upper left hand corner, click "Manage FBA Shipments" find the shipment you are working on and click the yellow button that says: "work on shipment". Once you click that button Amazon walks you through the process and makes it quite simple" That gave me the confidence that I was doing the right thing, Thanks
Hi. Thank you for this great demo video. I just had a couple questions. 1. Did you put an Amazon FBA label to each of your book? 2. Do we need to shrink wrap each book or we don't need to package books at all? Thank for your time !
I find this interesting because of the fact that everywhere I look online, people say to always ship UPS. As far as the 15 dollar shipping goes, it was for a 16x12x12 box weighing 45 pounds. You may pay more for shipping than I do but I bet you ship a lot more in one box than I have been so far. Also Rob, have you noticed that when text book season comes, you lose money because you forget to up the prices. I've scanned books that were worthless and then 2 months later they're up in rank + value.
Thanks for answering. Can we sell new toys also or are we only able to sell "collectible" used toys out of production? I look forward to your future videos. I have been following Nathan's blog for over a year but never took any action, but after seeing your videos I feel really pumped/motivated to finally start.
Thanks bro, that was really just what I needed. I found a bunch of books, and my box had a little more space than I wanted it to have. I was able to fill the void with newspaper stuffed inside of plastic grocery bags. Didn't realize I could do that! Nice job on the video!
Great videos! I am new to fba and appreciate all your tips and tricks. I have had an online store before and found that if you place an order at a packaging supply wholesaler the costs go way down. Just google for your area. The minimum orders are usually small and mine even delivers in my area once a week for free if the order is $100 or more. I can order boxes of all sizes and quality, packing paper, tape, bubble wrap, plastic bags in various sizes, etc. at deep discounts.
Great tip about packing books I am implementing it as you speak!!:-).....2 other QUESTIONS....1) Do I need to place all individual DVD's/CD's in individual plastic pouches?...2) I have a great old edition of the Game RISK....it is in perfect shape other than the box edges are torn....can I STILL send it in for sale?......Thanks!!
Your videos are really helpful and informative. Thanks for being so transparent about this business. I was wondering if you could do a video on packaging toys and electronics. Does FBA Amazon allow us to ship them toys, pdas, and cellphones without the original packaging? Thanks in advance for your help.
I packed up my first box of books to send to FBA last night! Of course, they aren't all expensive books. Some of them are only 10 dollar books, but I'm just testing the waters with fba with this first shipment. If half the books sell quickly, then I'll definitely start using fba as my main way of selling.
Thanks your videos have been really helpful for me. I'm sure you've mentioned this before somewhere but can I mix DVD's and CD's in with books? A guy who I run into at the thrift store told me that you can't mix certain items together in a shipment, in this case he was referring to board games and the like.
Hi man, this video was really helpful, big like. I have a question, I am very new in trading-in in Amazon. So, basically I've done everything you did but I'm not sure how exactly to mail the box! Do I have to take it to the USPS office staff or there is a place that I can leave it in the USPS office without having to wait in line and give it to USPS staff??
I've now shipped a few boxes successfully. I just created a new shipment and FBA is using DHL as its preferred carrier. There is no DHL location within one hour from me and I thought UPS was the designated carrier. Do you recommend using UPS anyway or would it cost too much? I've grown comfortable shipping 50 pound boxes for 15 dollars! Thanks Rob.
Very Helpful. Could you direct me to specific instructions on what to do after fba power creates the list and product labels. FBA Power just seems to just say "Go to Amazon" and follow their instructions from there. There doesn't seem to be a good example anywhere that shows how to get the packing list, and the shipping labels that goes on the box and in the box. There's kind of a void there for a newbie. I would like to see you go from FBA Power to Amazon and get the final packing slip, etc.
I can use UPS, USPS or Fedex for this particular order but in order to do so I have to click off of the amazon preferred box.I was so busy today that I didn't get to the UPS store but I will be bringing that box there tomorrow. I just selected UPS and it didn't give me the typical options to enter weight and dimensions and therefore didn't print out the typical two shipping labels (only printed one). Apparently I have to pay when I get there tomorrow.....
That is so funny, Rob! Definitely, keep up the laziness! As someone who is just starting out, I can tell you that it's the small "technical" details that are the most frightening and confusing to us. Seeing things like how you pack a box and what the scanners and PDA's look like are what we need to get us going. One more question. I have a sturdy box but it is from a printer and is pink and has pics on it. If I cover up the UPC code on it really good, can I use it for a shipment to Amazon?
Thanks for your great videos. I just love them! Do you need tax id to belong to FBA or to have the right to use labels? What is the less expensive way to print the label?
Rob, which printer do you use for printing the packing slip? And which one for printing labels? If a book does not have a bar code already, do you assign a UPC code to it and place this on the back cover of the book? Do you print UPC barcodes on the same printer as you do the labels? Do you use a scanner to enter this data simultaneously on the FBA workflow? Many thanks for the great advice. Cheers, John
Thats interesting! I had a conversation with another regular who I see at thrift stores in my area and we discussed prices, ranks and the scenarios where buying certain books is beneficial. Personally I've been selling on amazon since November last year and I've sold 3 books in the 3 to 4 million ranks so I will go that deep rank wise for books if they can sell for 30 or more.
I labeled my products according to FBA Power instructions at scaled 90% in the print settings of my Dymoe 450. After I labeld several items (100+ cds, etc.) I realized the condition note on the label was cut off,ex. "New Item" below the bar code and name of the product, "New Item" was cut off. Am I going to have to remove and redo all the labels again? Does "New Item" have to be on the label? Can I stick a new one over the other one? Your thoughts? Thanks...
Great video! After years of selling on Amazon, I'm ready for FBA. Got a box of toys to send in. Now should I wait to list the items on Amazon until they receive them? I figure it will take a few days to get to their warehouse and wouldn't want to delay a customer's order in case somebody buys them right as soon as I ship. Thanks!
Hi there. When I am preparing a shipment Amazon tells me which products go to what warehouse. I put all of the products going to the same warehouse in their own area. When I am ready to pack a box I use the products that I have put in that area for the warehouse (books often go to the same warehouse). I have never had an issue with Amazon cutting my products but I often put a piece of cardboard on top as a "buffer" anyway. Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
Can some help me I'm trading in my book on amazon . They have me the postage print out so is that free shipping or do I need to pay at the USPS post office. I do have my own box and tape.
+Shane Layton Hey there! Thanks for the kind words! I am glad that you enjoyed the video! Selling books is DEFINITELY PROFITABLE...in fact books have some of the best margins available! You can buy books for as little as a dime and sell for hundreds of dollars! It definitely helps if you have places around where you live that are plentiful in books to purchase. Here is a FREE EBOOK that talks about selling books on Amazon via FBA: www.DollarMoves.com/FreeFBAEbook Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
Two questions (and sorry if these are already answered): --How do you know when preparing the packing list exactly which items will fit in each box? --When the boxes arrive in the warehouse and they're opened by guys with box cutters, the item on top might be sliced. Has that been a problem for you? I've always put an extra layer of cardboard between the top of the box and first item to guard against this.
Hello, obviously this comment is too late for your question but just for future help the most recommendable way would be to ship out in a cardboard box. a bubble bag is more fragile. keep in mind that amazon's reputation is in jeopardy. i have worked with many companies like amazon, drugstore, walmart, bestbuy, wayfair, ebay, sportsman, and many other pickier companies with no problem so far. I am charged of distribution at work. Also for supplies in quantity you can try uline.com. hope helps!
hello I have done everything in terms of collecting over 200 books and toys and all I am do is keep on collecting and not sending in who knows maybe I am scare anyway can you help or tell me the steps I need to send in my items, I know there is a procedure in terms of listing, labeling and such can you recommend me to where I can this detail step by step process
I have a question if you sell on amazon seller because i sold my books through amazon seller but im unsure whether to ship them in a priority mail bubble mail envelope or priority mail bubble envelope for orders that are expedited xP. do you know the cheapest way? I just bought shipping for the priority mail medium box flat rate (the prepaid shipping). i really am not savvy with this stuff!
Then you have a very commendable post service in your region, because most elsewhere it's a mess, and when we get to talking about international mail then it's a real nightmare. And thank you for the video!
Hello there... my wife and I are new FBA and we we're wondering why they charge us like 60 dollars after Amazon received our two boxes and they both weight like 40lbs... how they Calculate? or is it because of Storage fee? can you help us by giving us advice? thanks Ron and Holly
Thumbs up :) Has using the newspaper and plastic bags always worked well for you when sending books? I'm concerned that if the box becomes upside down the weight of the books will really compress the newspaper/plastic bags and the books will have room to move around and be damaged. In general I'd love to hear your advice on best, cheapest/free dunnage for sending books to Amazon warehouses. :)
+Kyle Hoffman Hi there! Yes, the plastic bags with newspaper does work great with books but I make sure that the newspaper is filled in pretty tight when the books are heavy. I will also use pieces of cardboard to fill in small holes between books. The thing that I like to do most is to just cut the box down with my box cutting tool (here is a video!): ruclips.net/video/lsCxNXx9V4Q/видео.html Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
+Oliver Romain Hi there! Thanks SO MUCH for the kind words! I am glad that you found the video helpful and that you found it to be exactly what you were looking for! Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
Thanks for the video. I had a question on prepping used VHS tapes. Do they need to be wrapped in shrink wrap, or can I just tape them from falling out of the box and put a label on?
Thanks for the video! I'm wondering about spiral-bound books, specifically textbooks. Do they have to be wrapped in any way to send them in to Amazon fba? I've searched the web and forums and can't really find a definitive answer. Some people say use stretch wrap that can be bought at home improvement stores, but I hate to do that if not required. What's your opinion?
Hello im a beginner on this selling books... My coworker gave me a bunch of books mostly a dental and nurse (medicine books). When i post this in amazon should i send this to amazon to have me shipped to the buyers? Because im new i need some advice. What is the fastest way? Thanks
i have a question . if i sell the few books to FBA , do i need to stick label to each other ,to cover the origin barcode??? anyone could answer me ??? also , what is unit . standard size ? feel confuse ~~ probably you guys may not understand me , but please ~~need your help ~~cause i am asian~~poor english
Quick question man, do you have to put a barcode on the back of every book? Wouldn't this decrease the value of new books and potentially damage the books when removed by customer?
i love watching you in action Rob. Very interesting. Ok so you get the labels from UPS? why do you go to the UPS STORE? cant they come to your place and pick up the packages? Or is it just your preference to drop them yourself?
Amazon has special rates for shipping via UPS that are much better than usps. You'll see the option when you'll be working on your shipment. I am trying to figure out how to mail my books by LTL - that would be even cheaper. Didn't find a good video on that yet.
Hi, I want to start selling books on Amazon. I've been watching some of your videos, they're really helpful, thanks for all you share; but I have some questions, could you please help me? I would like to know exactly what "tools and materials" I'll need to start. I noticed that you need an Amazon seller account, FBA account, UPS account, as tools. And as materials, you have scanners, printers, scale, boxes, etc. It would be really helpful to have a list (like ingredients in a recipe) of everything we need. I'm new at this. Other question I have is: if you have a book that is posted at $0.01 in Amazon, how can you make a profit out of it? Why do people sell books at $ 0.01? Thanks for your help.
Hi there. I am glad that you found the video helpful! I hope that you didn't unpack them unnecessarily! You want to get those products out to Amazon...but you DO want them to get there in the SAME CONDITION that you sent them in. You are VERY WELCOME fort the information on the videos! I hope that you are also using my links to make purchases to help your business;) Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
Hey there! I recommend getting the free labels from UPS but you could print out the labels on paper and tape them to the box...I have known of people doing that. Here is a link to some peel and ship labels on Amazon that are pretty cheap!: amzn.to/2dt0V8r I hope this helps! Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
Yes you can. For the items themselves though it is best to use adhesive labels - preferably using a dedicated printer like the Brother QL700 or Dymo 450/ similar . At first though you can use an inkjet and cover the codes with clear tape. Hope that helps
I don't know why but I was under the impression newspaper was not acceptable. Has Amazon ever complained about either the plastic bag or the newspaper?
Hey I'm going to start shipping books out and I went to this box place and I think they ripped me off in price. Since it was books they told me to buy a certain box I think it was around 14" on one side, and each box was $7. I was wondering what's the best box to ship books in. I find that $7 a box is fairly pricey but at the same time if it'll keep the books from being damaged, is it worth it? Or there are cheaper boxes to ship books in? Would like an answer asap if possible. Thanks
That’s a lot of books ordered by someone. I wish Amazon would pack my ordered books meticulously like his guy as I often encounter damaged corners on my books.
How much do they usually cost to ship them out? Also what is the dimensions of the box? Just picked up a 1000 book for $50. Just trying it out to see whats up.
+Tai Le Hey there. I pay anywhere from $.50 - $1.00 per pound when sending my books to the Amazon Fulfillment Warehouses. It depends on how far they have to go. The box is 12" X 12" X 10.5" and can be found at Walmart. Here is a video that I made where it shows the box sizes I use: ruclips.net/video/-rWBLXf1LuU/видео.html Thanks for watching and commenting! I hope this helps! Take Care -Rob
For a female book flipper, how would you recommend packing the box if you don't want to have any more than 20 pounds of weight and still have the box books arrive safe?
+Rhonda Nelson Hello there! You could always get smaller boxes and/or cut the boxes down to size. If you found smaller boxes around that would probably be the best idea. If you fill a box half way and then use void fill to take up the remaining space the books might shift around (unless you pack the void fill tight)! Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
I didn't realize that DHL is a subsidiary of UPS. It just says DHL but I still prints out the same UPS labels. Oh well, you live and learn I suppose. I'm getting more accustomed to the process now.
One more thing some of the books my coworker gave me there was a lastname on the side of the book and i couldnt remove it coz its on the pages on the boooks i hope you know what im talking about. IS this acceptable from amazon?
Hi there. Amazon no longer needs the packing slip shown in the video. However they ARE requesting that people add box contents slips in each box now. This is not currently a requirement BUT will be something that they will require in the future. I know that ScanPower (www.dollarmoves.com/SP) is working on something that will make that process easy and I'm looking forward to seeing it/using it! Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
Hey Tom! You can get many seller products (including labels) on my website at: www.DollarMoves.com/Resources If you are looking for cheap Dymo labels you can find them there...click on the picture and there are two links on the right hand side for options...the regular Dymo label and "House" labels and both are cheap! There are a TON of great products on the website! As far as the boxes are concerned you can get the ones shows in the video at Walmart for cheap and they are PERFECT SIZE for just under 50 lbs of books. Thank YOU for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
@Rob I've just started to sell on Amazon and I have a few specifics questions that I would like to ask you privately. I was also wondering if you could be interested to coach a new seller....maybe we could discuss a deal that could be profitable for both of us. Please let me know what would be the best way to contact you (email, facebook??) if you are interested by my offer. Thank you!
Hi there. I haven't heard that about this video but I apologize. This video was made before I updated my equipment to better audio and I believe I was also sick when I made it. Hopefully you were able to get the idea with the low volume issue. Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob

could i just print the label on regular paper and tape it on the box??
That's what I do, just have to make sure it's taped on each edge so it won't catch something and rip off
great video that fills in the gaps for us newbies
Interesting, so you get a discounted rate. Approximately what does it cost to ship a 50 pound box of books?
How long is the wait to see if the book is on sale after shipping them to Amazon?
Hi Rob. What are the dimensions of that box?
Nice clean and concise video and advice. Spot on. Thanks.
+Oliver Romain Hi there! Thanks SO MUCH for the kind words! I am glad that you found the video helpful and that you found it to be exactly what you were looking for! Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
Do you ship that media mail?
Thanks for the video. I had a question on prepping used VHS tapes. Do they need to be wrapped in shrink wrap, or can I just tape them from falling out of the box and put a label on?
Thanks for the video! I'm wondering about spiral-bound books, specifically textbooks. Do they have to be wrapped in any way to send them in to Amazon fba? I've searched the web and forums and can't really find a definitive answer. Some people say use stretch wrap that can be bought at home improvement stores, but I hate to do that if not required. What's your opinion?
When shipping through amazon fba do you have to pay UPS or do they charge your amazon account?
you say you get the ups sticky labels free? can you explain?!
How long does it take on average to ship to warehouse by UPS?
i love watching you in action Rob. Very interesting.
Ok so you get the labels from UPS? why do you go to the UPS STORE? cant they come to your place and pick up the packages? Or is it just your preference to drop them yourself?
Thank you for a very informative, simple video!
What if I forgot the packaging slip that was supposed to be included in the box?
You said the labels were free when you get a UPS account. Does that mean that they give you the labels to print on?
I see 11 thumbs down for this video. I do not understand that. I think it's an awesome video! Very helpful information!
Can you give me the steps on how to sell them in order 1 more time ?
Tell me everything I need to get cause the only thing I got is the books.
Very nice packing. Thank you.
+Raj Las Thank YOU for the kind words! I hope you found this video helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
how much do you pay for shiping
Thanks for sharing Rob, very informative video!
Would USPS media mail be less expensive?
Thank you so much, I'm learning a lot from your videos.
Take Care -Rob
can i print out the box labels on regular paper and just tape it to the outside of the box?
$.50-$1.00 per pound ??? you mean that 50 lbs box will cost you
$25.00 - $50.00 to ship to Amazon warehouse? :+))
How can I send my items
Awesome! Thanks for some great info!
Love it !!! Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the video..it helps to see the process.
Great! Thanks!
Excellent video
How do you get a packing slip?
Harr harr har eye just shipped out a few boxes of books myself
Thumbs up! Well done.
So you dont need to put each book in a poly bag

great info my friend. really.
Thank you!
wish the volume of a little louder on this video
Hi there. I haven't heard that about this video but I apologize. This video was made before I updated my equipment to better audio and I believe I was also sick when I made it. Hopefully you were able to get the idea with the low volume issue. Thanks for watching and commenting! Take Care -Rob
