(Current events) - Reiner Braun has returned home but is still haunted by the years he spent on Paradis island. The heart-breaking betrayal he had to commit and the lies he had to tell about his experience there. Unable to come to terms with his past, his will to live is no more and he wishes to die. Reiner Braun remains my favourite character in Anime and will continue to do so for years to come.

I agree, that part was very impactful, I kept going back 10s to see it again, when you do it it hurts even more and I'm saddened by the pain the reiner felt.

That moment Reiner woke up after Gabi and Falco called out for him is when he became my favourite in the entire series. Such a tragic character.
i didn’t like reiner in s3 but after seeing his backstory in s4 i felt for him and now i love him.
And plus, Mappa make him the best Glow Up 🤤

3:00 man that roar with the flashbacks. Brings a tear to my eye. You can practically feel his pain. It's like he's saying to his now ex friends "you call me a traitor as if I wanted to do this but tell me what else could i have done? What else can I do besides follow their orders? You dont know anything about me, you dont know how I feel, you don't know how much this is tearing me apart. You dont know a fucking thing" if he said that.... damn I would cry.

and all of these people still ask me why i love him.. he's been through a lot, neither side wanted him and it's killing me. everytime when i see him i get emotional.

@Paper i believe he died just like that , unfortunately without fullfilling anything , but on the other hand their side shouldve had a loss or else they would lose reiner and the whole army without gaining anything

Wow! You described Reiner very well. One of the most emotional characters in AOT. Very good work!
He is a titan but he ended up being the most human of them all.
they had so many chances to end reiner, but his genuine split personality and the trauma and beating he had to endure since childhood, and the burden of wars and deceased comrades on both sides of the wall.. made him a subject of sympathy.. even for eren, who's willing to fuk shet up no regrets style.. reiner has been beat up over and over, had no real worth between his allies and family, and wanted to prove himself when he broke the wall.. he even felt more self worth being alongside the people of paradis.. he was able to pretend he's actually that big tough reliant comrade and not the one being kicked down.. he felt so torn and guilty, he admitted he's the armored titan inside paradis.. a child deprived of a normal childhood and made into a soldier. we all still get hyped at the sight of a broken armored titan.. a titan who's not there to take joy in killing people mercilessly or tossing buildings around like it holds no memories.. but a titan who's there to carry out a mission. when he begged eren to be killed.. when he tried to end it all himself.. reiner had me fuked up. he's an anguished child all the way through.. the only person from outside paradis who was so human, it hurts. unlike annie and bertholdt who killed with no sympathy and little understanding of their drive and purpose... reiner couldn't be that psychopath.. he's a soldier, a human and an anguished child. I don't believe in these new kids showing up on season 4 who are trying to reflect that we're all humans. there isn't a greater example of humanity than the armored titan. he's there to take the hit for his comrades. he's there to be the first to put himself under the train when his people are in danger.. I could never hate him and now I feel genuinely sad for his current state.. it's hard to be at any real peace after this much trauma.. people who haven't looked further into his character and accomplishments won't admit he's a hero. if you think the protagonist is always the good guy, this isn't different from death note. you can admire eren, but eren has given up on his humanity, whereas reiner hasn't. eren failed to understand that people outside the wall are human, whereas reiner found out the hard way that people inside the wall are human.

Bruh dude. Bertholdt was the one who understood the most of the 3 He stood in front of armin facing his old comrades. He said they are no devils and that they are innocent. But its his mission to end them. Thevworld is just that cruel like he said. He and annie also cried after betrayal can t say the same for reiner

Reiner was one of my favourites in season 1, and after the big reveal, I liked him even more. Such an interesting and well written character!

He is the only person that he’s parents still alive but he’s still suffering bc of them and his childhood 💔
Well his father didn't want anything to do with him and his mother and she did the worst to him. Reiner wasn't enough for her. She didn't accept Reiner for who he is, her son. She wanted a warrior and to make her happy he who was a child had chosen to become a warrior. A child soldier just to make her happy. After all these years she still doesn't see the suffering his career as a warrior had caused him. Fighting entire nations, bloodshed, and war. He was stripped away of the chance to be just a normal child all because he wanted her to be happy and yet all she cares about is gabi becoming the next armored titan knowing Reiner would die passing on the armor to gabi and she calls it an honor.

AOT is properly my favourite anime series! It got me in to anime! And from there become big fan anime lol
I watch all the series in dub first and then I watch it again in sub and holly shit! Sub is so good, cant wait for part 2
The problem is, AoT is not just an anime. If is something like death note.
It doesn't matter weather it is in live action(With proper direction and strict manga following) or Animated, its story is so Amazing that it will always shine.

A little forced the one who reigned as a child suffered so much, too forced the one that when he was a child was useless, but growing up is THE FUCKING MASTER! and I no longer say anything about what hajime is doing with him today, he treats him like an IDIOT. Anyone gives him a HIT, until the second season with the first fight with eren reiner and the armored titan were FEARABLE! It really was a last minute change in my opinion.
I really like Reiner as a character, from the first time I saw him I loved him, and I'm sorry for what is happening to him.
