- "Stairway to Heaven" is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was composed by guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant for the band's fourth unnamed studio album, (see Led Zeppelin IV (1971)). The song was voted #3 in 2000 by VH1 on their list of the 100 Greatest Rock Songs.[1] It was the most requested song on FM radio stations in the United States in the 1970s, despite never having been released as a single there.[2] In November 2007, through download sales promoting Led Zeppelin's Mothership release, "Stairway to Heaven" hit #37 on the UK Singles Chart.[3]

Truly a masterpiece
Hi Pisty, I am listening and enjoying the song, at 8:20 p.m. November 15. Greetings from Cali, Colombia.
I lost my big brother in 2017 to suicide. He was my best friend., There were nights where we would sit and listen to old rock music and never said a word, just listened to the music and enjoyed each others company. We played this at his funeral due to it being one of his favorite songs. I couldnt listen to it for two years, because I would instantly start to cry. Now I listen to it and smile and vibe, remembering those nights.. to anyone who finds themselves lost or losing a loved one tragically, music will always be the best medicine. Especially the old ones.
Katelyn Streetman I’m so sorry for you loss. You’re indeed right, music is medicine

"Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run. There's still time to change the road your on"
My favorite line
This song i kinda deep if you think about it.The 2 paths you going could mean when you play it back wards it sounds demontic
Energise it means being a good or bad person and there's always time to change yourself
Heybella oh god when i was reading this comment thay line played, it must be a sign lol

He did brother
This is fr making me cry
I hope your father can find peace and be with God in heaven.
Peace for his soul
May he have found the stairway to heavan and the gates to peace
I love how they made the song like a real stairway. It starts slow and silent but gets higher, more and more vibrant and exciting towards the end - with each step - until it gets calm again when u reach paradise :)
I love the peak the most! The drums the guitar and then the singing. It's pure ecstacy :D
Feelings mutual
If you look at the music and read the chords, constantly climbing up the scale..maybe that's the inspiration for "stairway " and with the chord melody leading to " heaven"... they were inspired.
and as ALGore winds on down the road with his SHADOW TALLER THAN his SOUL we look for a reason to believe even though we know that he lied straight faced

Always enjoyed and always had to explain to others that these are real artistic music of our time
A few days after my dad passed, me my mom, gma, and nephew drove out to his grave. On the way there this song came on. Honestly I just felt this was him telling us he was on the stairway to heaven. This song was our song. We met. We were both 15 yrs old. He spoke no English, our first dance to and he sang it all through in English in my ear. We married in 1993. He passed on Aug. 4, 2002 at age 37. He was a traditional drummer. The drum brought him all across Canada and in to Paris. Truly fond memories this song brings❤❤❤.
This was the song my best friend chose to have at his funeral after he lost his battle to cancer.
Throughout the whole song, there was silence as his coffin was hidden by the curtains.
It has so much emotion behind its lyrics to me, and I always have him in my mind when I hear this.
Though, I’ve still not been able to listen to this without crying, I will ALWAYS listen to it because he chose it for us to hear and I will cherish that gift.
Rest In Peace Nathan. You were, and are, a complete blessing to my life.
I have lost one to many friends and family members to cancer 😔, and it makes me so mad because I feel like these doctors could actually fix it but they use it as a money pool 😡

Im only 14, but classic songs like these give a sense of nostalgia. Definitely is better than most of the modern day music like jb and 1d or mahone..not trying to spew hatred toward the artists, but oldies are simply amazing in all aspects! This, ACDC, boston, beatles, jimi hendrix, van halen, simon and garfunkel, etc.
I agree with you oldies are a million times better than the new shit, especially bands like bvb, bmth, ptv, etc. I hate those bands they suck so much
No hate intended just my opinion

My grandma passed away this morning i miss so much now she's making her stairway to heaven 😢
My grandma loved classic rock, she loved queen, def Leppard, Led zeppelin, ac/dc, poison, and more, sadly she passed away August 28 of 2018 due to liver failure, but she will always be loved and missed! This song is for her!
Sorry for your loss
I'm sorry for your loss, I too have my fair share of loss, lost my young uncle at 14 when I was like 6, and my grandfather bout a year later
Your grandma must have been an awesome lady 🤘🏼✌🏼🤍
You had an awesome grandma. Sorry for your loss. Rock on!
I will never forget being a toddler and my dad playing this song on his acoustic guitar to put me to sleep every night as a baby.
Your dad is legendary
So sweet

My dad played me, too. Good dads!
I battled cancer for two years, it got rough and we didn’t think I was going to make it. I wanted to give up so many times. I was tired of being in pain - I was done. This song helped me so much. Music today just doesn’t compare, there’s no meaning to any of the new genres, it has no soul and is superficial.
so true music today is way worse that it was before sadly :// but im glad you made it!
Oh Buck Up Pal.
It Could Be Worse!
Jimmy Page is the Magician Piper Guitar, John Bonan is the Drums Piper, John Paul John is the Bass, keyborads Piper (A genius) and Robert Planck is the Singer Piper: "May Queen" The structure of the song is amazing the transition to the solo guitar it is a prophecy. The lyrics oh my god there is no other song in the history of the Rock ´n roll. The Ocarines and flutes choir...it is a magig scenario to set upon of what will comes::: All the glitters is gold" The May Queen is an angel or a witch? I think is a Nature Hymn and restore our faith in everything that is good and create wellfair... Bravo Bravisimo. A minor key a forever music masterpiece. And we alive to witness all of this!!!! Thank you Led Zepellin Thank you so much.
I woke up early this morning, thought to myself as I sometimes do, “what’s a song that I haven’t heard in a long time that will make me happy?” I choose this song and put the head phones on in the dark and laid back... unexpectedly I had a rush of smell taste and memories, I realized what was happening and used this time to remember and feel happy memories I had all but forgot.
It was like how they say your whole life flashes before you die. But when the song ended in stead of being dead I felt so happy because I felt more like myself than I have in years! Music is amazing- it is real magic that can’t be explained. It can carry you through life’s hardest times, music can mend your heart and heal your soul.
I feel the same about Music wouldn't be anything without it
OMG, I had that same thought and those same feeling's! GOD, I LOVE THIS SONG!! THANKS SKILLSAW😍
This is so true
I agree in a way, but isn’t it odd it’s like magic as you say?
I don't know many people who feel the music. The music speaks to my soul on such a different level.
Is it just me or this song really has an unexplainable spiritual feeling and a philosophical meaning

Almost like to turn the clock back to 1971 and relive that time with my love, Sharon. I looked to the west and moved out to California with her. It was a fine time at the beach, a fine time with our little daughter in the Pacific waves, a fine time with the music of the day, working at Fender Guitar. Now, decades longer I look back with nastolgia to that youthful period of life. It's all good though. Life at 65 is still lovely.

So until we meet again, see you later dad. Orion and I won’t let you down. To any one who saying that this song is satanic they are ignorant. Just listen to the song it's very metaphorical, like when it keeps referring to the girl they all know the one that chose the "stair way to heaven" that looked good on the outside but was truly horrible and a bad path. That's what this song is saying go on the right path so you don't end up in a bad spot it's actually a very good metaphor by the way.
reverse it.... you will see who is ignorant
Trust me I have
+ryan hayes 'Here's to my sweet Satan'... At a certain part you can clearly hear that while the song is playing in reverse...

Jesus De Leon Dude , Dont go reverse , go always further , God will lead you further to the good things...Reverse is evil 's way..maybe this song says it .. ;) if you see two sides , one is bad and one is good , why you seeing only bad side ? coincidence or not , this song give me peace indeed , and i even dont think about what it says in reverse... so enjoy ;)

This past Thursday, July 25th 2024, I lost my mom in the hospital due to liver complications, we played my mom's and dad's song (All of my Love), her heart rate dropped from around 70 to 30, this song came on after and she passed at 8:17 pm on the bed, this song has and now forever will have a place in my heart, either for good or for worse, feeling and seeing my mom like how she was broke something in me, but I know she's in a better place. Thank you for taking time to read this, if you lost someone close, I'm sorry.
It doesn't really matter how you got here, you're here and that's all that matters. This work of art is 50 years old. Long live for eternity the mighty Zep 🤟🤘❤🖤
Such a beautiful thing to say. ❤️ This song IS a piece of art! 🙌🏻
Thanks man. I was insecure about it bc I had heard about the song at random points in my lifetime but never played it until now as I'm learning guitar nd this is a forbidden song to play in stores...was just like wow I've never actually heard the song before let's give it a play. I do like it too😀
This song always gives me the chills, like an instant high.
SAME I JUST GOT CHILLS FOR LISTENING
BETTER THAN ACID
I don’t need drugs bc this song is my drug
❤
“ooh’ makes me wonder..”
That part i just can’t help but tear up...this song is so beautiful
I think it's "wander" but I know, sometimes words have two meaning's ;)
Everytime I hear this song I think of my grandma. I love her so much and I miss her so very much. We were so close and she always made me so happy. Everytime I had some Cheetos she would ask me for some and I miss those happy moments I had with her as a child. This song played at her funeral and it gives me chills everytime I hear it. Fly high granna🕊💗
Perfect song. Sorry for your loss. Don't be sad. It's all about going to heaven. No other song is like it.
This song will always be for my mom as I listened to this song while she was on her deathbed when I was 15. I am 22 now and today is her birthday. 10.17.1962~12.06.2015 💜
She's looking down at you smiling and proud.
😢
I've listened to this for the millionth time, and I still can't express how much I love it.

Who is listening in 2019 and still gets goosebumps?
I just did an in depth lyric study of this song and it's really about the rapture, everyone coming together and meeting God and that it isnt too late. I'm personally not religious but wow.

On of the greatest songs of all time! The entire album was the greatest! I’m so glad I got to see them in concert in 1974
This was played at my dads moms funeral😔this was her favorite song😭❤️

This is my dad's favourite ... and maybe it will keep me from collapsing hard when he moves on to a better place

+BarbikaPahor yes it is
This is a timeless masterpiece.
freedom my man
Such a thought provoking song.
Imagine for a second that this song came out today. The media coverage it would get and how many youtube hits it would get.....makes me wonder.
Really makes me wonder.
Not as many. Culture changes, and to be honest, people would probably think it's quite crap (that is, those that didnt listen to this type of stuff growing up).
m'y friend it a mirage
+SilverTheFlame I didn't listen to music like this while growing up. I'm just 13 year old and my mom listened to this kind of stuff, so now I'm listening to this instead of dubstep. :)
Look music dies în la te of 70s
This song will forever be one of my favorites, still listening in 2023
Same
And you will be listening til the end of your days.
I never appreciated this song until my mom died , and I was having a terrible day and this song played and I knew why so I listened to the lyrics, they made sense because I had something meaningful to relate it to💚💙💛💜 truly beautiful.
Man that guitar solo sends shivers up my spine. Then loops around. my head. If I had to choose between this song and sex....I'd probably choose this song.
+thesanctityoflife Sends shivers down your spine; body's aching all the time?
+Dusty Trinity goodbye everybody, i've got to know!
+Vanessa Mohn gotta leave you all behind and face the truth!
+thesanctityoflife why not both?
+Joe Alvey At the same time? Bro...you're blowing my mind.
Dream on, Stairway to heaven, Bohemian rhapsody, made in heaven, The sympathy from the devil, back in black, highway to hell, we are the champions, house of the rising sun.
I can listen this masterpiece all day.
Thank you Araki and your bizarre adventure. You helped me
Is that a JoJo reference?
ZEPPELI SAN
Tbh, as someone who is into Jojo and classic rock, I’m glad that the series has gotten so many people into this kinda music.
My former high school plays this song, at the end of EVERY dance. They've been doing it for a long long time! It's tradition, oh... and 8 min. long! :)
This isn't just music, this is a special part of my childhood growing up. A time, family and friends that will always be there til the day I die.
🙏🙏🙏
One of the most powerful rock songs of all time.It is immortal it will never grow old.
Yup
When my grandfather died last year I was really emotional throughout the whole thing, like I cried as soon as I got into the church, and we had to sing a song similar in melody and rhythm to this song. And I broke down. I cried for like 3 hours straight
Same bro my grandmas 66 i just don't want to imagine a world with out her she is what makes me what I am and I love her more than my parents so when its her time Idk what will happen im praying for u brother hope u are doing ok
From COVID ????
It's subtle but well worth mentioning...that the absolute hook during the entire guitar solo is Page sustaining an F# chord on his Fender Electric XII 12 string plugged directly into the main sound board, thru the entire solo. You have to listen closely but it's brilliant in its application and makes this arguably the greatest guitar solo in rock history. Actual key is Fmaj7
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that people are sharing their memories and stories about loved ones that have passed on to the stairway to heaven. Really brings a tear to the eye. In which I lost my 2 grandfathers on my father's side and my step-moms side and I will never forget them and this song is just very symbolic for people who have lost their loved ones.

It never will now because the music industry wouldn't allow it. They are unimaginative and all about numbers.
AC/DC is making a comeback idk if that's what you're looking for
