    I think I have a pretty solid lineup
    Drivers:
    Max
    Charles
    Carlos
    Danny Ric
    Yuki
    Constructors:
    Williams
    RB
    Obviously my constructors are the compromise, but they don’t seem bad

      Lots of variables for sure early on. Hard to confidently say Perez will start the year hot but last few seasons he’s been very solid out of the blocks

    It just seems pointless to me going for all the low-mid priced drivers like Tsunoda, Ricciardo, Gasly, Albon. One of them might get a couple of points if they can creep into a top ten finish and maybe a q2 or at best a q3. But they will be competing against the Mclarens, or Aston Martin's for those positions and I expect more positions lost than gained. I mean if you assess it positions 1-10 are more favourably reserved for Redbull, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mclaren and Mercedes. I think you are better off saving money on the Sauber's who in my view will qualify worse than the Haas but pick up points in the race?

    I guess the fun is in that we honestly have no clear path. One thing to consider with that Merc FER build is that Merc scored 0 points for fastest pitstop all year. On the other hand they were scoring an average of 45 points or so in total, if they can improve the pitstop that’s something to keep in mind?

    • @f1fantasyhub

      Great point! You’ll notice in my team selection out tomorrow I mention this! I still think Mercedes for Bahrain is a stretch for me but think they’re at a competitive price compared to last year

  • @Skantezz
    @Skantezz 7 месяцев назад +2

    Some basic thoughts:
    1. Any winning team needs MV with 2x. He scores too many points to look past even at 30m.
    2. I'm fairly convinced Ferrari and Merc are 2 and 3 in the running order and closer than they were last year. I like those two teams given they have great driver line-ups. Could spell trouble for Perez and a Red Bull team pick (Perez looked straight bad in testing). So Ferrari/Merc locked in for the teams.
    3. Rest you just fill out with the best available picks. Steer clear of Alpine and Haas. Ricciardo, Tsunoda, Albon and Bottas for me. RB look decent and I have confidence in that driver line-up, Albon is solid and Williams look decent, Bottas is reliable.

    • @wabailha

      I think the issue is the Max build is not going to be the strongest build later on in the season when other players have prioritized price-increase builds and have a wider selection of better drivers. Max has been priced for what he is going to do and thats win every race, theres not much room for improvement in his value.

    • @Skantezz
      @Skantezz 7 месяцев назад

      @@wabailha He'll score too many points to leave out even early. Besides, I expect Merc and Ferrari to increase in price.

    • @wabailha
      @wabailha 7 месяцев назад

      @@Skantezz yeah but you can have Red bull, Ferrari and Perez, in a build without Max. So I don't think the differential will be that huge. Only time will tell.

    • @Skantezz
      @Skantezz 7 месяцев назад

      @@wabailha Well, I would expect Perez to not increase much in value, nor Red Bull for that matter due to Perez. The biggest potential value increase for me lies in the following three: Ferrari, Leclerc, Mercedes.
      Your three most important positions in the team are your two teams and the driver you boost. Verstappen will probably carry on being dominant so he is a lock for that 2x boost, even at 30m. That leaves you having to choose two premium teams. RB is too expensive to pair with Verstappen and they don't provide much potential value increase IMO. On the other hand I think Ferrari are undervalued, they look like the second best team and not nearly as flawed as last year. Merc look much better too, I think they are solidly on the back of Ferrari with potential value upside. McLaren did not look as good and AMR doesn't have as good a driver line-up as the others.

    • @wabailha
      @wabailha 7 месяцев назад

      @@Skantezz I agree there's definitely value increase in Ferrari and Leclerc. But for me it's naive to rule Perez out for 1 mill more than Leclerc considering the current data on the Red Bulls race pace. At the end of the day we won't know for sure till the lights are out! God luck

    On no Merc drivers taken. If you're taking Max and Red Bull you're pretty much writing off any other high-cost driver from the top four just mathematically. Maybe as prices change this will change. But not shocked at the start.

    Thanks for the shoutout! I’d suggest thinking about the team like this, rather than 5 drivers and 2 constructors I like to think of it as 10 drivers, I get Max twice for 15m each, Leclerc and Sainz for 9ish mill each, Hamilton and Russell for 10ish million each, then the best of the cheaper drivers for the other 4 slots.
    Essentially I get 6 top 5 contending drivers if testing pace is to be believed, a Max Leclerc Ferrari build you only get 5 top 5 contending drivers with 5 other midfield drivers.
    With a Max and RB build you get Max 3 times and Perez, so only 4 top 5 contending drivers with 6 midfield fillers.
    The big thing is Perez, if Merc and Ferrari are within 3ish tenths of Red Bull then I can see Perez down in P6 most races with Merc and Ferrari drivers beating him, apparently Perez was 6-7 tenths off Max in testing but I’ll wait till practice till I decide because Perez being P2/3 or P6/7 is a massive swing for both RB losing points and Merc and Ferrari gaining them which is what my team is dependent on
    That’s my thought process at least

    • @f1fantasyhub
      @f1fantasyhub  7 месяцев назад +1

      All very valid points mate and definitely agree with your perspective. One counter argument I could make though is that unlike owning Ferrari/Mercedes/McLaren (could even throw Aston in there), where race to race it may be more unknown who the second and third best constructors are, Red Bull is always going to be the first so I suppose the safety net and likely guarantee of always being the highest scoring constructor is a big plus in my books. But like you say, Perez performing well vs not is a huge risk regardless. I really want to see what practice unveils because I’m no closer to making a final decision

      Do you therefore go for:
      a) highest average finishing position for value increase, or
      b) weaker in qualifying but likely to gain points through overtaking even if final placement is lower than the team mate. (i.e. Zhou over bottas and Ocon over gasly).

    • @kingd7946
      @kingd7946 7 месяцев назад +2

      @kingkezzaa2001 I honestly don't disagree with you. I just want to emphasize that the cars are more complex than we think. Just for example, Vettel's last year in Ferrari made him look he forgot how to drive, when he just didn't click with the characteristics of the car. Ricciardo in the McLaren had the same issue, the same Daniel Ricciardo that scored podiums in a Renault of all cars the year before and out did Hulkenburg and Esteban Ocon the same driver that beat Alonso across a season. One can even argue that the 2022 Alpine suited Ocon more than Alonso. My point is just that, each car is different and might suit one more than the other, the philosophy of the 2020 Redbull that Albon drove is different to this year's Redbull. Perez has always cracked under pressure, beaten by Ocon in his rookie year and he choked at McLaren when he had his shot, the only reason Redbull signed him was as a wingman/ no.2. I'd even say put Lando, Russell or even Leclerc in that Redbull and then we'll see a proper championship scrap.
