Interesting, especially with the links to the live /historical data. I'm in the process of doing almost exactly the same thing for my garden office, 2x400W panels, Easysolar 24/3000 (the original one as I got it a fair bit cheaper), batteries yet to be decided but probably 2x200Ah AGM for cost reasons. I have an existing and mostly good mains connection so am thinking of this primarily as a large capacity UPS with the bonus of getting it topped up by the solar when there's sufficient sunlight. Which panels were these?

Hi, we went with JA Solar 405W , as they are not expensive, and do a good enough job. We purchased from Wind & Sun. If you upgraded to an Easy solar 2, and configured as ESS, you could also feed back to the rest of your property/grid. The Easysolar, isn't certified for this, therefore cannot be setup for grid feed in under current regs. Good luck and shout if you need help.

2 x 405 watt panels will charge 2.7kw batteries? How long will it take, at what rate, what is the maximum charging rate of the batteries and what was the battery amp rate of the 2.7kw battery? It was mentioned that you had 118 watts solar energy coming charging the Retail Cabin but that still doesn't tell you anything?

Yes, 2x 405w panels would charge any sized battery, within reason. We have 2 batteries that are 220aH each, totalling just over 5kWh of energy. We also have another 2.4kWh on order to add to it. Charge time depends on energy generation. We should expect between 3-5kWh per day, obviously very weather dependent. 2.89kWh was our best day so far this week, but its not been that sunny. The batteries are from Transporter energy, a link here to the full specs if you'd like them ecotreelithium.co.uk/product/12v-216ah/, , if you check the link within the description you can see in real time, how its charging, at what speed.

@@nextdaysolar3349 Thanks for you reply and I did watch the whole video, rewinding it a few times too! You didn't say what the charging rate of the batteries were, its great 5kWh of energy but it still doesn't explain how long it will take to charge the batteries with all things being equal! Is it not the charge controller that will charge the batteries as long as the charger gets energy then the charge controller will work?

@@powernab8457 Hi, yes the batteries will be predominantly charged using the 'CC" which is a 250v unit that Victron place into the Easy Solar 2. In terms of charging rate, this very much depends on how much sun is available. The unit has been installed for 1 week now, and we've had a number of power losses (due to low state of charge) and as the batteries are now in a low SOC, its more a game of trying to minimise consumption whilst generating in the day, to try and gradually increase the SOC. For us its not really of great interest how quickly could we charge the batteries, but if you were not using energy in the unit, and had the full 800W being delivered, it would be 5000wH battery / 800wH production = 6.25 hours for a full charge.

It looks like the Easy Solar developed a fault judging by its caption "Faulty Easy Solar 2".

definitely they don't know what they are doing
