- In this video I have explained how to set up a canister filter for a planted aquarium in hindi.
I have done an unboxing of a Sunsun HW603B canister filter. I have explained how to arrange all the filter media as per the requirement and I have also gave you some tips to get the best result out of this canister filter. Keep in mind while purchasing a filter the first thing you should consider is the size and shape of the tank.

Since this is a 6w pump,if you want the outflow to be more try increasing the height of the canister filter,place something below it and try cutting down on the house pipe length(delivery)

Ye depend karta hai aap ka aquarium ke size ke upar... Agar aapka pani me enough flow hai to jaruri nehi but agar kam lag raha hai ya koi koi jagah pe jyada algae ho raha hai to use kar sakte hai.

Agar budget hai to go for canister sunsun hw 303 or 304 otherwise go for a powerhead filter which has enough output flow for your tank. It should be 10 times the water volume.
Very Nice Video, But Activated Carbon, Ceramic Rings and BioBalls ke liye sequence hota hai kay aur kaha rakhana hai
There is no hard rule but best practice hai pahle activate carbon, uske baad ceramic ring aur last me bio balls rakhna inlet se outlet ki taraf.

Just wanted to know.. Do we have to keep it on 24×7?? Cause like in power filter we use it only for 5 to 6 hrs daily... I want to switch from power to canister one for my new fish tank of 2.5 feet.. So can I go for it.. And do. We have to keep it on for 24×7?? Thanks in advance
Yes. You need to keep it on 24x7. Not only this filter actually we should keep any filter on 24x7. Remember in a natural habitat of the fish the current never stops.
Very well explained Sabyasachi. One thought does come to my mind on seeing the detailed working of the external canister. Can we make a filter DIY ? Maybe in a big 20 litre paint bucket or something which has an airtight lid.

Yes you can make one. I am thinking on the same line. Regarding leakage i need to check but you can use a small aquarium submersible pump of what ever power you are looking for.

For 7 feet it is too small. You need a bigger one. It is good for max 2 feet tank. Anything less than 2 feet it is okay.

Can we place the cannister filter at the same level of the tank & not below, will it make any difference in its performance
Canister should always be kept at a little lower than the tank level. I haven't tried. So if you are getting success please let me know. But my guess is it should work until it is on a higher level than the tank.

Use sunsun hw 503a or 503b. If you are looking for a budget filter go for the same model of he video. It is working perfectly for me for the same size of your tank.
Yes. You can place the filter at the same level.if dont have any place under fish tank to hide the filter then you can keep besides the tank or back side of the tank..it does not make any difference

Well as per the manufacturer it should be fine for 2.5 feet. But in my experience you would also need a wave maker for it to work. It works fine for 2feet tank.

Won't get water flow everywhere otherwise. The canister has got only 400lph which is pretty less. Or else go for sunsun hw 302.

No... None of the pump can pull water up to tha height. You need to keep the tank between 1 to 2 feet height. Use a some thing to raise the height of the filter.
Also, do we need to suck the inlet pipe to get the water flow, everytime we start the filter or will it be the first time only by siphonage. Please advise.
No need to suck. Just keep the out let pipe a bit higher for a few seconds and the water will start flowing.
Outlet pipe you mean the pipe which is moving out from the pump and entering to the fishtank ?
I got it. Creating a vacuum inside the pipe. Once water is filled, the pump impeller able to suck & discharge the water flow. Thanks a lot for your valuable help !

Use the same filter currently you are using but add a small wave maker... I hope that will suffice your requirement...

Hi bro, I have the same cannistar with me, used quite a lot for my 2ft tank it wasn't that effective when it comes to removing the waste, debris has to be siphoned out manually, off late changed the inlet pipe fittings but the water gets drained out into the tank leaving the cannistar empty, not sure what's the problem, pls suggest why this is happening

There is only one solution to this, which is regular water changes. No filter will be able to clean the debris or detritus.

@Pokemongo96164 for a 2 feet long tank this is enough. Just try to keep it at the same level as the tank and cut excess piping. I have been using it for the last 4+ years without any problem so far...

After using for more than 2 years it is working perfectly. No noise, no issues at all. The only problem is after cleaning it takes a lots of efforts to start the flow. You need to keep sucking the aquarium water in your mouth as there are no other ways.
What if I add small subermesible pump to inlet of this canister. And won't use the pump already.. Coz.. The place where I belong don't have electricity.. It 2 hours on 2 hours off. So cannot prime filter.. But I m thinking if I add filter inside aquarium to inlet will that help.. Electricity problem is not letting me purchase canister filter.. Right now I have sobo 408 H hob. Want to upgrade to canister..#i am Big fan from Jammu and Kashmir.. North India..

Yes. You can do so. But it won't stop immediately. You can turn off the niddle valve and take out the pipe from citric acid solution using the magnet.

Sorry to say brother , i tried this one as well as sunsun 302 , this filter is so weak , it does not do even 50 gph(gallon per hour) and for any tank of size 29 gallon we need atleast 10 times of the capacity, i tried the sunsun 302 but it was cheap product as well and plastic broke and once with these sunsun they break repair is impossible, i would highly recommend aquaclear 70 HOB(hang on back) for a 20 to 30 gallon tank ...
+Bishu Pal parhaps you are right about the plastic body part. However when it comes to my personal experience with this equipment, I am really satisfied with its performance and for the price.
However just a suggestion, if you are getting less flow you increase the height of the filter and cut the pipe to a smaller size. Anyways it is my personal opinion.
