Microsoft Excel is commonly known as a spreadsheet program, but did you know you can program ENTIRE GAMES in it? Turns out there is this thing called Visual Basic For Applications or VBA, and it allows you to program within it! Most people would use this to automate tasks in excel, but I decided to push it to its limit and attempt to create a game within it. Specifically Flappy Bird as I believe it is the titular benchmark game to create when testing out a new engine (or office program).

This is not new at all. There are thousands of games made in Excel. I have Bejeweled with audio. This guys skills are terrible as the games that exist play just like the real thing. This guys doesn't know how to truly leverage VBA.

I did not know it was even possible to make a game in Microsoft Excel. People are becoming more and more powerful with their computers.
there were games built into excel all the way back to windows 95 days. cannot remember the name or formulas for them for the life of me but you ued to be able to input formulas that would initiate the games.
can remember a moon lander rominggame and a doom like maze game
no idea how we used to find them out without the internet, but the formulas always done the rounds threw word of mouth

My brother is an engineer who used to work at a sumsung semiconductor manufacturing plant. In that plant there was a version of Tetris that worked in excel that was distributed between employees. The factory eventually lost so many man hours to it that the head of the factory wanted to fire everyone who had used the program. However, after inspecting every worker's computer for any history of the program, so many employees had used it that they couldn't possibly all be fired lmao.
