In this diy video, we are milling timbers and working on the post and beams for the new timber frame barn, wood shop and sawmill. We are using old school hand tools as well to fashion the woodwork like the early pioneers did. Follow along in the series as we build in stages. We also connect the fire-it to the smokehouse.

Looks like that hand saw needs sharpening like mine.
Always!
@@SmokyMountainOutpost There used to be a shop here in b'ham that would do it. I forgot the name, and don't know if i could find a place now. Have 2 Diston saws that belonged to my Dad.

Great stuff Richard...looks like old Porky's days are numbered...how much propane have you gone through to do the wood burning?
Happy Friday Richard. Happy Friday everybody!!

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of watching you build anything Richard. Your attention to detail puts so many others to shame. Take care and may God be with you and yours.
Thank you, Marty. We truly appreciate you!
Nice watching all these projects, glad to see the stone skirting done and looks nice. Now to burn in the smokehouse to coat the insides to enhance the flavor of the meat yummy. Good to have great neighbors help. 👍👍🙏🙏✌✌

In germany we say in the morning sits the bird on the tree and in the afternoon the house is ready. 😄😄😄🇩🇪
Love it!
Excellent job on the foundation Richard!
Thanks!
Hello Richard, I would like to recommend that you wear safety glasses for carpentry, as it is very dangerous that at some point a splinter of wood could splash in your eye. To your question, what would I do in the space where the little house was, I would build the garage for the Silverado there. A hug from Costa Rica for all your family. Greetings.
Good point about the safety glasses. Thank you for your concern. Also, I do think Dad is going to build him a garage there. Great minds think alike! We hope Costa Rica is treating you well! -Jennifer
Привет,труженик,!Все классно!У Вас красивая улыбка.почаще смейтесь,!
Hello SMO.. Len always cracks me up 😂
He is a riot! Hope you are well Jo Jo!
Richard your stone work looks fantastic! Think it's the NC stone, only because I was born there.....LOL
Hahaha! I think that is probably one of the reasons! Good thinking. Hope you are doing well! -Jennifer
good video lot's of work. the way steel cost now i save it all. you will have to give him some smoked meat. take care, be safe and well.
Thank you, John!
That rock and concrete sealer could be applied by spraying much easier than rolling and brushing. In fact i think it looks thin enough that a pump style garden sprayer might be able to spray it ok. Your hand saw and even the electric saw can be lubricated by rubbing the blades with a little paraffin wax. Helps make cutting the wood easier. Just a couple tips that might help make your day a little easier. Thanks for sharing your videos and your day’s labors. Stay safe
Thanks for the tips, Raymond! We appreciate them. Hope you are doing well!
Good evening Richard, liked the way you changed the pipe for the smoker. It's awful close to smoking time. Great work on the timbers too. You all stay safe and looking forward to the smoking time to get there. Fred.
Thank you, Fred!
You need to wear those eye protectors! All it takes is one chip flying up.
Kathy, that is true. Thank you for your concern. -Jennifer
Great content Richard love the relationship you have with your neighbor lol
Thank you, Sam!
That door is perfect for the fire box. Have you thought about painting it with some heat rated paint? May keep it from rusting and last a more few years (unless you think the paint will give off gases too). I bet you will miss the shed - at least until you get your workshop built. But a garage for the truck looks to be a good call.
That good ol shed was the “throw all” lol… I think the garage will be a good thing. And yes, that little door is “sa cute” hahaha. Thanks for following. -Jennifer
Retired Marine veteran who also enjoys your program every week. Jennifer is a terrific addition, good co-worker & funny too!
Thank you for the wonderful comment. My daughter and son are the best. They make me proud
Clever usage for the door.
Yessir! Thank you, Richard.
Good evening from Australia, been away for many months so it’s great to catch up on all that’s happened
You are the only person I have seen cut wood as needed, honest I watch some other channels who own a wood mill yet don’t use it and buy all wood because it’s dry. Yeah crazy with how expensive wood is….
Glad to have you join us again! With the price of wood today, it is much better to take the time and cut it.
@@SmokyMountainOutpost I 100% agree
The steel pipe that you buried will rust and collapse.
You should have use clay tile pipe.
I would have if I could have found any. Nobody had any within 50 miles
@@SmokyMountainOutpost 4 inch round clay drain tile will work just fine.
If you want a bigger diameter try regular clay chimney flu tiles.
Do you have plans drawn up or do them yourself on a computer program? Love your work👍
He is old school and draws them up. Very neat! -Jennifer
You are doing good job
Thank you, Eduard.
Und wieder super Arbeit von dir einfach super👏🏻👍😁😊😊🙋♂️
Vielen Dank!
How often do you have to reapply the timber frame oil?as always enjoyed watching Richard. Hope you have a blessed day.
Was told about 10-15 years

The house is looking amazing
Thank you, Monica!
Doing a great job Richard
Thank you!
When you put the mill in its new home you going to install at waist height?👍🎅🏻
Not at all. It will sit on a concrete slab
Impecable 👍👏🙏
Thank you so much!
🇳🇴👍👍👌
Thanks!
Where do you get your chisels from?
My neighbor made them for us
Hey I watched a lot of your videos in the early days. I stoped watching your videos about 2 years ago because there were all the same. I watched this one today and thought the same however you are looking tired and much older. I feel you need to give more control to Jennifer and husband so it’s a family legacy not just your vision with your helpers
Hey Jerome. Thanks for choosing to watch us again after 2 years. A lot has happened. You are right.. Dad is tired, but he has also lost some weight and feels much better than he did. He also recently lost his mother and two uncles as well. Surely you can relate? Furthermore, this vision is my Dad’s and is his life on the homestead. I hate you felt all the videos were the same and now that you decided to watch another, feel the same way as well. I am sure if you took the time to delve in to several videos you would see what progress has been made and just how the videos have changed. Take care and thanks for watching. -Jennifer
Smart to deform the stove pipe into the much stronger oval shape.
Thanks!
