Coach Tom. You are so correct. Boxing is all about inches and decision making... When to slip and when to slip and dip and when to step in and smother and so on and so forth.
I really love boxing school with my teacher Coach Tom. Can it all really be so simple?

    0:10 defend 1n 2 /slip jab /smother rt hand
    Other video (parry)
0:18 slip jab(differnt ways to slip)
But slip should be like jab twist
    (Slip is twist too)
    0:45 I don't have to dip/do that extra move
If he aim for my face I just twist
1:05 becz boxing is all about inches
1:15 becz Iam in that shoulder trajactory /with that hip hinge when I twist I get power to throw rt hand
2:22 insted if slip jab and stepping back defending cross
I step into shot (slip jab /step into shot )
3:00 slip and jab (same way twist )
    3:14 slip /smother /then I can do different stuffs
Grab his body (tie it up) / or I just throw rt uppercut/
or I can pivot conr style (its similar to shift and switch but its not )
3:45 or I can just turn him /get my rt hand around his back and catch the other side and turn him
    4:15 all way around back
5:20 hand all way around back show
    4:35 show again
4:45 things that move ppl in boxing (head control (like horse turn whole body ) / elbow /hips)
5:30 great way dwfend 1 n2 and different ways to counter it

Hey coach, love your videos. What are your thoughts on a slip, slip for when a 1,2 is thrown at you ? is it dangerous because you are bringing your head back to the midline and could potentially get caught with their 2 ? is a slip, weave a better option ?

Legitimate question: do you think your student’s left hand is hanging too low when moving inside? Seems like something a skilled fight could pick up on, and eventually punish.
Love your videos. I train my friends (to the best of my ability), and quite often use your videos for reference.

There is no way you would have time to step to smother a proper one two in a fight imo. The answer is to slip, dip, and then the smother can be an option after that. Most times the right hand will fall over the top of you anyway when you drop down that little bit further after the slip.

For the love of god someone buy that kid some Sabas or Cletos.

    • @Cambodia69
      @Cambodia69 3 года назад

Sabas are junk. I know because I wasted my money on two pairs that I later ended up donating to my gym. And no one at the gym who tried them ever ordered a pair.
If you want to damage your opponent and don't have hand issues, Cleto Reyes fight gloves are a good choice, but not so much for their regular/classic training/sparring glove. That said, I know they've since responded to the many years of complaints about their training gloves and finally created the more heavily stuffed training glove option that hopefully addressed this issue.
I screwed my hand up with Reyes' and never went back after I got my 1990, made in the Bronx, New York, Everlast 2416 training gloves.
Despite their initial cost, Winning gloves are likely the single greatest value of any training/sparring glove on the market for the serious boxer. Considering how much money one typically spends over a lifetime on all the many poor, mediocre, or merely adequate gloves they'll go through in a lifetime, a pair of Winning gloves is a veritable bargain.
If you don't get the fancier colors or personalization, you can get them for $310 for the (16oz) MS-600 model at store.winning-usa.com/index.html. Be mindful that many other websites are selling fake Winning gloves and only a small handful are authorized to sell the real deal. The website I posted is from the lone US distributor, Mr. Kazumichi, in Redondo Beach, CA.
If money is no object, then the best USA made training/sparring gloves are made by John Golomb. The 2416 is a timeless classic and my favorite glove of all time.
I only mentioned these brands because I have extensive experience with all of them and would never disparage or recommend any brands or models without said experience.
