  • Hello! My name is Camila, and I am a native speaking Spanish teacher from Argentina. I have a 30 min vlog series called 'El Vlog De Camila' that I created to help my students and other Spanish learners acquire Spanish naturally, like a baby, with comprehensible input.

Lovely tour, lots of new words to learn! 🥰
The ending of the video was a bit abrupt though. Was the video supposed to be longer?

Yes, if you want to know a little secret. I'm working on the idea of starting a daily 30min vlog, and so these are clips of some demos I've been making to see if its possible to consistently make a daily 30 min episode. If I were to make a daily 30 min vlog is that something you would be willing to pay for?

@@languagebaby Yes, I love secrets 🥰 And to answer your question in short: yes! But let me explain more thoroughly. Right now I'm paying $8 per month for a Dreaming Spanish premium subscription and I think it's worth it. They have over 5500 videos, about a dozen (regular) professors with different accents (Spanish, Colombian, Mexican, Argentinian) and a ton of varying topics. And they have a fancy web platform with search filters, difficulty ratings and time tracking features. So I can justify paying that price.
But a lot of their older videos are simple talking in front of a webcam type of videos with minimal editing that aren't always very engaging (unless you're really interested in the topic). Their newer videos have higher production value though (filming in different locations, more edited, graphical inserts etc.) and those are really fun.
I really like your videos because they also have high production value (interesting topics and locations, good sound quality, nice edits) and you're always very conscious about speaking clearly, not too fast, with basic vocabulary (without slang) and you clarify things the audience might not understand (in interview situations for example), so that makes you an excellent content creator and teacher! Right now, your videos are at a perfect level for my current intermediate level Spanish.
If you were to make longer videos like the ones you've made up until now I would be willing to pay a couple of $ per month for that. For the time being at least. After 3-6 months my Spanish level will have improved a lot, so I would need more advanced level videos to keep learning. So you could thinking about that too: how to keep customers coming back for more when their learning requirements evolve over time.
Are you thinking about using a platform like Patreon for premium videos? You could just try it out! But since your channel is still small, it's probably best to do split versions. Make a longer premium version for paying members, and a shorter 10-15 minute version that's free on your RUclips channel to get more subscribers and help your channel grow.
Making 30 minutes worth of content everyday consistently does seem like a huge commitment though, especially for 1 person. It takes a lot of time to produce videos (I work in video production so I know). And especially if you're selling video content be careful not to over-promise to your customers and then burn yourself out trying to deliver. You need to regularly rest too, right? Best start small, see what you can realistically manage, and if you do have extra time on your hands: feel free to do more. That way you can work in advance and (future) schedule your videos so you have a safety buffer in case you get sick or need a longer rest/vacation.
Hope this helps! This turned out to be a veeery long post and I've probably made a lot of assumptions about your plans/goals, but feel free to ignore the parts I've misinterpreted 😆

Thank you so much for this in-depth answer! These are really really helpful insights for me, I’m taking notes. I’m still trying to figure a lot of things out, but it’s very uplifting to see that there’s interest in the content! ♥️
