Great video Marcus, nice clear explanation of the form and what is required. Let's hope a few more people start completing them and doing so correctly. Nice one 👍
Hi Marcus, Do I need to fill out a minor works if all I'm doing is replacing sockets and light fittings for a client? and not touching or altering any circuits except to isolate at the CU.
If your not ADDING TO or ALTERING the installation then no, you do not need a Minor Works form. However it is Good Practice to check and test any circuits, sockets or fixtures your working on as a precaution and to cover your a$$ in case of any future issues. All too often a client/homeowner will blame the last person to carry out any work in their home when something goes wrong with 'what ever'... even if that person never touched or went near what ever failed, broke or blew up! 🤔
A MEIW certificate may mean the difference between you being prosecuted or not. If you change a socket or a light fixture, how do you verify and prove the work you have done is safe, how do you prove the accessory is earthed and that it will disconnect in time in the event of a fault… A MEIW certificate will provide prove your work was and is safe.
Your videos have been a massive help on helping me pass my 2391, keep up the good work
Congratulations and thanks for commenting 👍🏻

Should the registration number of the electrician be put on the certificate?
What if it’s a radial circuit. The form states “final ring circuit” ?
