Not relevant at all, but does anyone else want to get into a Icewind dale campaign so that they can make a PC named Dale? Maybe introduce yourself as D. Frostair
The Gnoll Vampire is hands down my favorite. Just the fact it gains it's undeath by hunger makes me laugh at all these wizards trying to become liches.
So, this is basically DnD's the Thing, which is basically a riff of Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, in which "Tekeli-li" was a noise/word that the shoggoths say, so it all came around.
I would recommend using giant elk stats for bull moose, it more accurately represents the size and danger of an angry male moose. Also I really don’t feel like the frost maidens have enough hit points to have vulnerability to anything, I would use max HP for each form of your party is going to be able to take advantage of the vulnerability.
You missed how Isarr deals more damage to you if you’re isolated, I think it’s quite the interesting thing to play in to especially given his role in the book
@@drewneedsmoresleep6680 just because he's a ranger in the novel's doesnt mean he needs to follow the guidelines for 5e ranger. As an npc they can give him plenty of abilities and god stats
@@drewneedsmoresleep6680 stat and combatwise the ranger is really strong. Easily one of the highest dps classes. Its the lore and flavour mechanics that are more lackluster
Love all the constructs in this book, especially the Magens and the Snow Golem. Was definitely hoping for a Yuki Onna as an undead ghost, but the Coldlight Walker was pretty cool too
I'm definitely gonna use that snow golem and the raindeer lore with glowing antlers to make a Christmas one shot where someone's made a bunch of evil frosty the snowmen that are invading or something.
Imagine going through a magic dungeon and you had to deal with various traps of living spells and the boss at the end is a Living Bigby's Hand wielding a Living Blade of Disaster
I want a Snowy Owlbear pet. They are so adorably chonky. They just want to eat. So much from this book looks like it would be great to add to a homebrew game.
I really like mephits so it's awesome to see them being used in any form. That metal dragon looks badass! Yay Chwingas! These little fellas are adorable. I've used Living Spells before and they are really cool, nice to see more of them. I reeeeaally wanted to see an Ice Elemental, but Snow Golem is a nice substitute. Is this one of the locations where Drizzt spent a lot of time or were you just generally hoping for his statblock?
Even with a fire vulnerability, being able to just repair a snow golem with ice spells and such makes it pretty darn convenient as a lackey hanging around your caster.
If you look closely at the Duergar Hammerer it doesn't actually look like arms of the suit are long enough to fit the arms of the host, which has some pretty horrifying implications.
I’ve had this idea for a campaign where instead of choosing a race you choose a creature of cr 1 or lower and this book has added quite a bit of interesting options
Since there are location specific Kobold, do you think there should/would be Icewind Goblins? If there were, what do you think they would look like? Chult Gobbos are Green, Regular Gobbos are tan. Would they have hair like the trolls?
This book would prolly help with my Father Llymic campaign idea I had years ago with less work. Converting 3.5 can be tedious. Also Automation was from MM2, 3.5 nice to see a great update.
The Harpell family was an interesting wizard clan lease to say that lived in the Ivy Mansion located in Longsaddle their magic tended to backfire in some peculiar ways but they had a vast knowledge of the geography and history of the north
Now, for that chardalyn dragon. I had heard from somewhere that it absorbs magic and explodes the spells that it contained back out upon death. I didn't notice any such ability on this stat block. Maybe I'm confusing something else?
In older editions chardalyn gemstones acted like single-use gems of spell storing, where you crush the gem to release the stored spell, maybe you're getting it from that?
Lol, you must be new. Don't worry, he somehow spits out multiple videos a day, almost every day. You probably won't need to buy Tasha's if you are willing to watch the videos and pause to read the important info lol.
Loving the work you do, but I noticed you skipped over a trait on one of the verbeeg. It gets an extra damage die when using simple weapons, which I thought was pretty neat.

Snowbolds was the pun you were looking for.

Hello my name is Dale Icewind of Icewind Dale.
The Gnoll Vampire is hands down my favorite. Just the fact it gains it's undeath by hunger makes me laugh at all these wizards trying to become liches.
If I died of hunger I’d be pissed enough about it to come back too.
there are frost giant zombies in explorer's guide to wildemount, so that might be what you remembered
At this pace the whole adventure will be available on this channel
cemsanitarium seriously though im hoping my players dont stumble across this video
@@Jon71992 ....but I WANNA knoooow
😋
Yeah my players knowing the stats and weaknesses of every encounter before I do, even though I only bought the book has been ... fun
Gnome Ceremorph is totally my favorite, i love mind flayers to begin with.. a tiny mind flayer just makes me so happy
Plus a mind flayed that could actually be good! It just makes them cuter.
I keep trying to swear off the wizkid prepainted sets, but then things like a gnome mind flayer happen and what is a mini collector to do.
YES
It bugs me walrus's arent a fair match for a polar bear. It would be cool if giant walrus gave us another cr 7 monster worth turning into
Scooma
I hope there’s an expanded beast list in Tasha’s CoE for Druids and Polymorph. It gets boring when there’s really only 1-2 good options.
Brain in a Jar first appeared in Lost Labratory of Kwalish iirc.
So, this is basically DnD's the Thing, which is basically a riff of Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, in which "Tekeli-li" was a noise/word that the shoggoths say, so it all came around.
oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh excellent reference catch! I thought that name sounded familiar.
I do love the picture of three kobolds in a trench coat

WotC: *releases the Galvan Magen*
Me with my Galvanice Weird and Galvanic Blastseeker: _"Your creature will make a fine addition to my collection."_
We need the frost druid as a druid subclass
Would be a great counter to the fire druid.
Shame they didnt cover Drizzt Do'Urden in this book and give him a statblock
Agreed!
@@drewneedsmoresleep6680 that would be true if he had to conform to a player class, but a npc statblock can have anything you want

Potential homebrew applications is one of the main reasons I ordered this one
The man never sleeps
I'm going to pretend I didnt watch this because my druid loves crag cat form.
Dudeist Priest for real. Taking an option away from Druid players just feels mean. It’s not like it’s an overpowered form.
Chwingas are so fun to have players run into, everyone loves em.
imagine a wizard whose find familure fails but in its place where the familure should be is a druid that has shape changed into an animal.
The cold light walker is just the cover of ‘the thing’

Yeah he spent a large majority of his life in Icewind Dale
These are some of my favorite monster! I love ice/snow/arctic themed stuff and they really seemed to have fun and got creative with the abilities
kudos on the victor bevine shoutout...he's the reason I pronounce things the way I do in d&d too
My immediate thought upon hearing that reindeer are in using elk stats: There are Giant Elk stats in game... there are now Giant Reindeer in game!
Wait. Huge? Is the Chardalyn mini larger than the stat block?
Coldlight Walker is probably my fav visually; but both Duergars, the Gnoll Vampire, and the Tomb Tapper are my favs of all for combat purposes
Even with a fire vulnerability, being able to just repair a snow golem with ice spells and such makes it pretty darn convenient as a lackey hanging around your caster.

The Giant Walrus Body Flop attack should have a strength save to avoid being knocked prone.
The vampire kobolds are so cute 😂
I like the hare! I was really hoping to see a Wendigo because of all the cold and even survival themes
Congrats on 50k! I've been here since around 15k
Tomb tappers are a great example of why magic societies are horrifying.
Clever HPL reference with Tekali-Li.

there was a frost giant zombie in wildmount that is propably the monster you where thinking of when you saw the skeleton
That would be really OP if it could transform into Alf
I don't know what part the chardalyn dragon has in the adventure, but cr11 doesn't do the model justice.
i think frost giant skeleton is in the wildemount book as well
My favorite is the tomb tapper

Av e "rice" is really simply the English word avarice (greed) I believe? Dragons are infamous for their avarice.
Brain in a jar is from Lost Laboratory of Kwalish
I was hoping got the Frostwind Virago from 3.5s Frostburn
made me want to see a stat block for ALF in D&D now
I still want gnoll PCs and lupine
It's technically not official content but Keith Baker's Exploring Ebberon includes playable gnolls.
I agree
Ah, I made a joke about wanting an ice sickle and wotc delivered.
Looks like the Weakened the Tomb trapper, and No VerBeeg race! Or the Gnome Illithid race!!! sigh, still cool though
So gnome mindflayers are the dumbo squids in dnd ? I like it

So we can finally go whaling!
Is Tasha's gonna get all this coverage too?
Yep. He's been doing it for every new book so far.
100%, though it'll likely be 5x the amount of videos. Each subclass will get it's own video comparing it the Unearthed Arcana

Thank you.
Almost all of the enemies seem to have super low amount of HP.
Albino are fairly common, where you been?
By definition, no, they're not
Is the book worth it for the new monsters?
All this does is make me want to play a Sheperd Druid that summons those Hares and later multiclass into Sorcerer to cast Dragon's Breath...
.... Mindflayer lore literally states they don't like little people, what the gnome?!
Weird mindflayer experiments are always good. I would prefer more base Ilithid variants but we already have enough of that tbh
