Since I've spent so many hours in Elementor and I saw that they are redesigning the editor I wanted to share my thoughts as well. I hope they will see some value in some of the ideas. Also guys, share your ideas below because there is a chance that they read the comments! Btw, when I recorded this video the new BETA for the new editor wasn't out yet (it now is, who has seen it?). I will make a video about that soon as well because it's quite interesting what they've came up with so far.
Do you still use Elementor nowadays? Because Elementor is really lacking on performance and is bloated a lot. Webflow, framer and Bricks have been getting a lot of positive feedback.
Thank you Rino for your expert explanations in your tutorials. One feature that I’m sure othe users would LOVE to see is the link selection ((the small chain) in the padding and margins. Linked could be one color and not linked another. So many times I think the link is not linked and I go to adjust and all change because I could tell if the tiny chain icon was one way or the other. If that was color coded, you could see at a glance if it was a connected or broken link. This would speed up work flow and I’m sure other users would appreciate it. Thanks again for all you do.
My main problem is probably because my screen is 1920x1080, but I can only see my true desktop layout by collapsing the main toolbar. When I'm working, Elementor resizes and moves some elements to fit in the visible working area in a way that does not preserve the actual proportions of the design. So I can only position elements by trial and error, and then flip back and forth between the open and closed toolbar to check the result. It would be so much better to either let me choose to hover the toolbar over the design and not change the positioning of my design at all, or to shrink the design proportionally to fit my working area so that I can put elements in the correct place. It's so annoying to have to guess where an element is going to land once Elementor shows me the full-screen layout.
@@uncodedlife It sort of works, thanks. I still find that certain designs have a different flow for each zoom level, so now I feel even more out of control.
I have to disagree regarding the background. They nailed it with classic as it allows to choose both color and an image. This comes in play when using a transparent image, and you want to choose its background color
I agree with pretty much everything except for the click to add widget. I prefer to drag, it gives the user the feeling of greater control of widget placement even if it is a bit placebo. Alternatives, we could just have both modes, click and drag for the drag option and simply click and release for the click to add widget.
I agree with all of your comments, Rino. The ones that I like most are making the font window larger, Making the global setting more visible (a very big one!), having the responsive modes more visible (and always while in editing mode), going back to the old theme builder as default, and being able to multi select. And, Rino, how far away are you from launching your courses on Elementor Pro and Figma? Can't wait to enroll.
1. SVGs addable in the Editor: What I do not understand is, why i cant upload svgs in the elementor editor. I have to go go the wp dashboard and add SVGs there. Could be generally an elementor function to be able to add svgs without extra plugins. 2. Navigator moving containers I often have the problem that i cant move some container into another one. I bet it has to do with the width or full width settings. 3. Hotkeys, extra bars with custom buttons in it etc would be nice. At the bottom of the editor window you could integrate an optional bar with custom buttons that lead to functions etc. For oxygen there was an addon for a better editor with such a bottom bar which is great. 4. More plugins, icons etc. For tools like figma you can add plugins like icons8, iconify etc. To quickly import icons or even images. You can quickly add lots of different icons, pictures, svgs, animated icons. I develop some sites without a figma design to save time and this would even increase my productivity to be able to add assets to my pages. 5. Cloud features Might be difficult to work on a design with more devs but it might offer new possibilities to be able to work on a page simultaneously. 6. White/dark mode native support This would probably be greatly appreciated by a lot of designers. A state where you can edit colors specifically for white or dark mode. Realizable with a simple toggle. And just another color palette. (You need to be able to select different images for the dark mode and maybe also change other design settings. But i think it is doable and would be great. 7. Responsive images / website speed Would be great if elementor would would store different resolution versions of images for different screen resolutions in a smart way to increase website performance without a lot of fumbling for the webdesigner. 8. Experimental split testing / feedback loops for new functions. You could present different experimental parts of the editor in 2 or 3 versions and you can let the webdesigners individually design their GUI. With that modular approach and taking more feedback from the designers you will get faster, better feedback from the customer base. Elementor support, if my tips are useful, feel free to text me shirts(at)toteb.de I can work as a think tank and maybe give you some ideas.
I really like some things Webflow has. Particularly for margin and padding where you have the box with all the sides and the numbers that you can change by clicking and dragging/sliding or manually. It makes margin and padding more visual and easier for new webbuilders to understand, I know a lot of people struggle with it. Same goes for the flexbox options, some things can be made more visual in the editor itself.
My problem with the state of elementor is, that it doesnt really know if it wants to be a tool for pros or for beginners. Some of their features are really advanced, some are way to basic and inconsistent. That can be seen in the UI but also functionality wise. For me thats the reason why I prefere bricks.
As I see, you're building websites with Elementor entirely. It is interesting how you optimise the performance and build quality with element containers. If you make a video about it, it would be great. I'm having issues with optimizing Elementor. I may be missing something.
the best thing can Elementor team try, is making Elementor have many themes and customizations on UI, it makes the designer chose his prefer theme for Elementor.
The Global Settings part makes a lot of sense to be visible to access. unfortunately there is a bug that has been happening for more than months when using the global color with dynamic tags, I put a color using options page of the jetEngine or ACF directly in the global color, when setting the color in the constructor it works, but when we go to the front- end the color does not work.
I think it would be better to copy specific widget styles as well. Most of the time, I only need to copy the padding or gradient style-not the entire widget styles to another/different widget.
I wanted to apply a kit to a page and it just messed up my whole site it is very confusing when going trough this process. it changed all the colors all the settings of my site , ... , and imported all those images to clutter my library. I wanted to test a kit on a page and see if I like it. then maybe create more pages with that design. It felt like a bucket of paint felt on my whole website and I had to clean all the clutter and go over all my global settings again, fonts , etc ... kits and templates merged together and we could have more control over the general things we apply with clear warnings of what we overwrite / publish or maybe just let us see what we do on some pages then a prompt to apply it. same for pages and landing pages it would be nice to have all the pages grouped together less clicks no loading to go to settings we visit often.
Thank you for your videos. I have a question, how can I use Elementor to display dynamic content on the Taxonomy Archive page, depending on which Taxonomy page we are on? Or is there only one option - to make a unique archive for each taxonomy?
If you create an archive page for taxonomies then it will automatically generate those pages. Any time a link it clicked it will do that automatically. Just try and you will see 👌🏼
@@rinodeboer Tried it. It really is, if you output the content using the "Archive Post" element. Before, I tried to display content through the "Portfolio" element, and it always showed all the entries, regardless of which taxonomy page we were on. But the question can be considered closed. @@rinodeboer I am now faced with another problem. I made a filter based on your videos using the Jet Smart Filters plugin. Everything works. @@rinodeboer Yes, of course. The problem was solved when I enabled the "Use as Archive Template" switch on the "Listing Grid" element. There may still be issues with the filter, but in any case, when you go to the taxonomy URL, it will display exactly the filtered entries. Hey Rino, I find your content so valuable as hell. Working as a website designer for 3 yrs I am switching from buying pro templates to subscribe for elementor pro and be more flexible to deliver content I want to, not that one I am restricted by the theme creator. How and where do you store all the credentials gained from clients? e.g. ftp, login details, database details etc. Thank you!
I think the drag and drop in the navigator is also very annoying. You have to be verry precise when you drag the section for example under another section. It would be perfect when you could select the section and just use the arrow keys or command arrow keys to drag the section to somewhere else. You could also make arrows next to the + section of the section, so that is it easy to change the placement of the section
Hi Rino, I also think most of your points should be considered for better user experience and also Elementor should watch Bricks and Breakdance for better product ui/ux design perspective.
No kidding.. As much as I love using Elementor, it's about time that their editor UI gets a well needed revamp.. I'm really excited to see what they come up with. 😆
