JazakAllah khair, but i don't think the title should be phrased like that, it may inflict wrong conclusion, maybe sound better if "what real tahajjud or taraweeh should be"

May Allah reward Sheikh Fawzan abundantly.
Subhanallah to pray trawih after isha and lock the masjid? This shoud be a clear error. But the masjid should remain open for those that wish to sleep and wake up to pray tahajjud.
The imporant aspect to note is that these prayers are one and the same, all are nafil prayed after isha. In other words tarawih = tahajjud = witr. And they end up as an odd number of rakats.
The Prophet never exceeds 11 or 13 rakats. The exra efforts added to the prayers defends on how long you take to do them, which means how much quran is recited ( with excellent makharij al huruf and tartilan). And also wether its prayed early or at the last part of the night( as the case in the last ten days when we expect to witness lailatul qadr, in other that we benefit from the multiplicity of rewards).
A companion asked the Prophet how the night prayer (the standard name) is to be performed and the prophet indicated, paraphrasing, in a squence of twos, and he said when you are afraid of dawn, you prayed one and conclude. This gives the option for some people to exceed the number of rakats of the prophet. But we know the best exmple is that of the prophet.
    Wallahu 'alam.

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,
Please what about the authentic narration from the mother of the believers, Aisha (r.a), that the prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) never prayed more than eleven raka'at, as that's the basis why some students of knowledge discouraged others from observing tahajjud after the taraweeh prayers?
    JazaakaLlaahu khairan ya sheikh
